- Ling Chi is back with another iconic insect. Butterflies like flowers are a wonderful subject because the same structure and strokes can be combined with different color combinations and patterns for almost endless variety.
Ling Chi offers three spontaneous style butterfly compositions with 3 different color combination on 3 different papers. The first paper is OAS Practice Xuan Paper (raw single thickness xuan paper). The second is a OAS glass paper (fully sized) and the third is a semi-sized xuan paper.
The sizing of the paper determines how moisture will be handled and color will display. The more sizing a paper has the more forgiving it will be with excess moisture. The less sizing the more excess moisture will expand or bleed. Paper with less sizing, however, tends to show colors more vibrantly and with more dimension and subtlety in tone.
We hope you enjoy the lesson!
