Will having a degree in Information Technology and trade experience in HVAC help me in getting into Mechatronics as an EM tech or controls? I do not have any experience working with robotics outside of working in a factory for two years but as someone who inspects plastics in a clean room environment (we had to inspect for impurities as these plastics were used in medical devices).

Absolutely! Your background in Information Technology (IT) and HVAC can be a great foundation for a career in mechatronics, especially in the field of controls engineering.
      Here's why:
IT Skills: Your IT knowledge will be invaluable for understanding the control systems and software used in mechatronics. This includes programming, networking, and data analysis.
HVAC Experience: Your HVAC experience will provide you with a solid understanding of mechanical systems, which is a crucial component of mechatronics. You'll be familiar with concepts like sensors, actuators, and control loops.
Transferable Skills: Many skills you've acquired in IT and HVAC, such as problem-solving, troubleshooting, and technical analysis, are directly applicable to mechatronics.
      To transition into mechatronics, consider:
Taking additional courses or certifications: This could include courses in robotics, automation, or control systems engineering.
Gaining hands-on experience: Look for opportunities to work on mechatronics projects or internships.
Networking: Connect with professionals in the mechatronics field to learn about career paths and opportunities.
With your strong foundation in IT and HVAC, you're well-positioned to pursue a successful career in mechatronics.
