I'm loving that Pacemaker!
It would be interesting to see Lionel offer the LC2 LionMaster 4-6-4 J3A Hudson in the Santa Fe Roadname Someday. 😊🤞🤞🚂
They’ve released the regular LionChief Hudson with Santa Fe markings before. In general I’d be happy if they just produced more like this and gave the older postwar design they keep rehashing a break.
I hope this line continues to appear in future catalogs. I’ve preordered the Lionel Lines version myself. Can’t wait!
Great choice! It’ll look so classic in that scheme
Honestly the only thing that caught my eye!
Can you explain to me why they are good? I dont understand? Dont Hudson loco suck?
Same here!
I will probably order the NYC or the Lionel Lines, never had a Lion master so I am looking forward to seeing what they are like.
Awesome video! So excited about Lionmaster coming back! That gray version is calling my name
I hope you find some financial loophole to exploit so you can get one!
I love the Hudson! But this sounds like a huge adventure for me to enjoy in this catalog!
The Lionel lines paint scheme gives me post-war vibes
Definitely!
I love the Lionmaster series and have Lionmaster Challenger, Big Boy, and Cab Forward. I am strongly considering getting the Lionmaster Hudson if only to support the series. With that having been said, Lionel used to put Legacy electronics in the Lionmasters and included whistle steam, which is a super cool feature. The Lionmasters were basically full-fledged Legacy engines that could navigate O-31 curves. I know that everyone has different price pain points but to me, my Lionel engines are mostly about space, not about price. Finding the storage space for something I will almost certainly never get rid of is, in the long run, a bigger deal than another $100 or $200. I do wish Lionel would revert to form and offer the Lionmaster engines with Legacy electronics and whistle steam (and maybe other cool features) for everybody who really wants to run the big beautiful engines on our layouts but who just cannot fit O-72 curves.
I'll end the same way I began, however: thank you, Lionel, for keeping Lionmaster alive!
Yeah I have lots of LionMaster trains. They’re fantastic! Art and I did a livestream covering all the steam engines they made through the years so if you want to see more of them, there’s plenty here!
I know you were freaking out when you saw that Lionmaster in there! Haha. I was not expecting one in this catalog after so many years. Guess talking about it so much must’ve worked. I’m definitely going to get that pacemaker version.
I've almost bought the older version a couple times but never did. Too many things I want in this catalog so I probably won't get one initially, but still happy to see it being offered.
Great video! 👍
Thank you!!
I’m thinking of getting that black one with the white lining, but they all look so good! Especially the pacemaker, but I’m worried about Lionel messing up the gray and making it too light. That wouldn’t look to great with the beautiful bright red. I think the black ones with the white lining would pull higher-end passenger trains back in the day but I’m not too sure. I know they sure will look good on your layout!
I was so pumped to see the Lionmaster back in the catalog and ran to RUclips because I knew you'd do a video about it! Definitely got my eye on the Pacemaker Hudson!
Hope you enjoy it! I ordered the same one 🙌
Me and my uncle have the tmcc version and we love it to pieces!
Out of all of the New items that have been reviled, the SW1’s and the J3As seem to be more reasonable for the price tag that it comes with 🚂
Your video has me interested in buying one of these locomotives. I have the Lionchief version of the Hudson which works very well, but the sounds are not exactly the best. I too am a fan of the MTH Railking Madison and Streamline cars. The Lionchief looks okay with them but it is a little on the small size, but I cannot bring myself to spend the amount of money Lionel is asking for the Legacy Hudson. With that said, I would like to ask a favor of you. Would you please measure the height of your LionMaster Hudson from the top of the center rail to the top of the cab with the locomotive sitting on the track. Also if you would, measure the width of the back of the cab.
Great vidio, like the loco. Thanks for the morning coffee...
Morning! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thinking hard about the Midnight Chief PA set...but those 21' cars are massive. THAT may be the deal breaker for me.
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of folks, even people used to scale sized items, just don’t have the space for those massive cars. 18” seems to be a good size!
There is no engine like the Hudson!
I like those J3A Hudsons, especially the Halloween one!
That’s a really cool one! My buddy Del is thinking of that one!
Love it. Want it. Buying it. My wife will be so surprised 😂.
The only question is, which one? I could go with all 3, but probably should only get one...
It’s a hard choice for sure! Whatever you pick, it’ll be a good one. These are so solid and the details are wonderful but they can handle the tricky stuff like a champ. ALL semi scale should be like this.
@Dadified86 I am probably gonna play it safe and go with the all black one. But that Niagra one is awesome and so is the Pacemaker one. And how many black engines do I need lol. Fun problem to have.
Thank you for your video and your reply!
Happy dance !
Wish we can get these reruns of these lionmaster ones.
Yeah I’m hoping they circle back around to other releases… but there’s also one they cancelled I’d like to see be made.
@@Dadified86 def. The duplex one is something I'm hoping they rerun it.
I want the Lionel Lines LionMaster J3A Hudson 1900 because I’m a collector of Lionel Lines locomotives.
Such a classic! Good call
I’ve been wanting one of those red pacemakers a long time. But I just don’t have the curves for the scale one. Now I can have one to fit my layout.Yes I’m going to preorder that 1946 now and get the preorder discount versus wait and get the second hand mark up. Ken
That might be the most popular one of these. I’ve seen quite a few folks who are going for that one! (And so am I!)
Wish it had whistle steam!
I do, too. But that would’ve bumped it into Legacy territory and raised the price more. I’ll forgo whistle steam if it means we get modern controls with this brilliantly proportioned Hudson!
I'm thrilled about this as well, the question IS which one? The original / real NYC one looks great but that red Pacemaker looks gorgeous! I hope this means there's also a shot they re-release a Big Boy LC 2.0 in 2025, and others in that line as well!
Yeah I’m really hoping to help break the “LionMasters are too expensive” and “semi scale is for starter sets” stigma. Hoping these sell well and encourage Lionel to release more!
@@Dadified86 My local shop seems to think this definitely indicates so; also mentioned the last time they made a Legacy version of this Hudson, the Red looked incredible and I'm heavily leaning in that direction for pre-order
Really thinking of going Lionel Lines with this one! For the price I think it’s a great deal especially with hobby shop preorder pricing! Would be sweet if it had whistle steam!
All those schemes are real sharp. I'm leaning towards the Halloween and/or Dreyfuss
Wasn’t going to buy anything from this catalog until I saw the LionMaster will definitely buy one might wait to see if there will be a custom run, are you listening Stu from Metca 🤔,Otherwise, it will be the gray New York Central
Which was odd to me because they hardly spent any time talking about them on their live show
@@Dadified86 if they sell enough of these, maybe they’ll release some more in future catalogs would like to buy a brand new Challenger
I'm in
Cool engines, really. Still a bit pricey, but not too bad. I wonder why they show a Hudson numbered 6000, which was a Niagara number? Either way, a nice review. A fine video, as always.
Might get the black NYC version, but the number is wrong for a J3a so I’m on the fence
Yeah I thought that was odd, too. And I think the Gray one has a Niagara number?
@@Dadified86 I’ll have to look but I think you’re right. But all J3a’s had 5400 numbers
Mike
My wife and I agreed we are getting
2 lionmasters.
6001 with dreyfus colors
1946 pacemaker
The red pacemaker would look good with my new Mth christmas train cars
The 6001 because the real lionel dreyfus is too large for my layout.
It’s like an “Unshrouded” Dreyfus then, right? 😅
Yes. Sad not the real dreyfus.
Ordering mine from
MrMuffins trains.
We are from Indiana like MrMuffin
I am not a lionel guy but I think I will order une a xcle hudson is just too big. Does anybody know tbe size?
