When you use a filter wrench, you want to slide it as close to the base of the filter as possible. You apply more torque and don't put stress on the threads.

I know this video is old but how do I release the gas cap. It won't come off or even move

Are you talking about the cap to the fuel tank? If so it just unscrews nothing fancy
