About Seinfeld:
Seinfeld stars Jerry Seinfeld as a stand-up comedian whose life in New York City is made even more chaotic by his quirky group of friends who join him in wrestling with life's most perplexing, yet often trivial questions. Often described as "a show about nothing," Seinfeld mines the humor in life's mundane situations like waiting in line, searching for a lost item, or the trials and tribulations of dating. Co-starring are Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Jerry's ex-girlfriend and current platonic pal, Elaine Benes; Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Jerry's neurotic hard-luck best friend; and Michael Richards as Jerry's eccentric neighbor, Kramer.

"I enjoy understanding" - George Constanza
That was in my opinion one of the best line ever from George.
Is he really the little bulldog.
Wilhem telling George to pay attention so he remembers things, all while not taking his pills that help him remember things is classic Seinfeld writing!
Interesting - of course! People love interesting writing!
Wilhelm? His name is TANYA!
Elaine that is interesting writing!😊
I still love the episode where George tries to get fired, only to discover Wilhelm was also trying to get fired, then taking all the credit for George's behavior 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Cristiano Ronaldo did the same thing at Manchester United a few weeks ago...but was it all a mistake!?!
Meet the Mets… Meet the Mets. Come on up and greet the Mets 😂😂
It has something to do with finance
Wilhelm was tired of all the macho head games of George Steinbrenner
Your triumphs mean nothing. Sit on it and rotate
"What did he tell you?". Lookkk you were right i was wrong, you don't have to rub it in!
Best part
humiliate me actually 🤣 but yes, that was the best bit wasn't it
you know, it's been twenty-five years now & i still want to know what the assignment was supposed to be
It's all in the song man It's all in the song
It's all downtown.
You've got to pay attention!
It was organizing a philanthropy organization called The Human Fund.
You're FIRED!
Between George and Kramer your day is going to be a lifetime adventure
Constanza set the benchmark for all corporate meetings of today.
Once again this channel left out the best part- when Jerry and George were trying to figure out the purpose of the project by deciphering the lyrics of the tune
They did the best they could do for 5 minutes. It'd be nice to get a part 2 to this video though, the original episode is quite a hefty one
I have a suspicion that this entire episode was based on that song.
@@davidgalinat4257 Highly possible. Sometimes a complete story sprouts from a silly idea like that. "Downtown" might have merely been a seed that the writer(s) chose.
Was this the same episode where we learn that George's boss simply forgot to take his medication ... and that the whole project had been already done by *him* and not George?
@@periwinkuru Yes. Two-parter. Lots going on. Golf clubs, bottle collecting, auto mechanic, and more.
The lengths the characters in this show go to, to not have to admit having made a mistake... Sad, but true
just like politicians. hey-OOOOO!!!!
Just Americans then
@@Ken_from_mumbai Just colonists then
Living in Asia with relatives in Europe, I’m pretty comfortable admitting it’s part of the human condition.
This was one of the funnier episodes for me because of its universal nature. To claim it’s only one group of people of one country shows how provincial and untraveled you really are.
@@chamuuemura5314 huh?? What are you talking about?! I specifically said the "characters on this show"... who are fictitious and so yes, it is a commentary on the human condition... Which was my point
I'm of mixed race who moved and settled half way across the earth and my son is even more mixed... I crossed 2 million miles on One World 15 years ago, so yeah, definitely untraveled and provincial here
There are times when I feel like George in this situation, and I’ve learned to ask the person giving me information to pause for a bit so I can take a moment to understand the ask and have a moment to write it down.
A boss who says “what’s the matter with you George; you’ve got to pay attention” and results in your employees not knowing the assignment, is a weak boss.
I think a lot of the time bosses are rude or patronizing in these situations is when the employee acts submissive and apologetic. When someone acts vulnerable people with weak slimy characters and more power than them will always try to flex their power because it fuels their ego. If you act confident no matter what you’re a lot less likely to be “picked on” because the same people with weak characters dont like being confronted or stood up to, it damages their ego. Like they say, high school never ends.
One would think asking questions shows concern better to get it right then make a mistake
I love the classic "why aren't you guys doing it this way? The way corporate intended" when they never explained it to do it that way lmao.
a weak boss, indeed. especially if there is no employee under them named George.
It depends how dense my employee's are.
The payroll guy is the blind piano player from Curb. Lol
And Noel from _Frasier_
he is dating a super model and we are not.
That was my takeaway from this video too! Hahahaha such a good character
Good call
"Your triumphs mean nothing. This is George Costanza; I fear no reprisal!"
"he'll tell you what I'm doing here and you can tell me" 😄
love the way George says "top priority"
Every boss in this show has dementia
In real life too
This is me at work everyday.
Top priority
This is like when George wasn't sure if he was hired at the interview "Of course, ....."
You're not Penske material.
Just show up like you belong! 🤣🤣🤣
What a genius sketch, George has a knack for the rediculous 🤣🤣
Ridiculous
I’ve called out bosses like Wilhem when they get a bit upset for clarification. I tell either you want me to do this right, or want me to make mistakes so we can have this conversation later. They get surprised I call them out. Usually they no longer act with an ego with me
That's good advice. Wish I would've called out my old boss.
Thanks for advice
And then you woke up with your walking papers stapled to the brim of your Urban Sombrero
pay attention and it won't happen.
@@plasticweapon boss man
Honesty is the best policy!
They should have made every episode longer than 20 minutes into an hour-long slot.
The show is just that good
Fun to see Noel from KACL (recurring "Frasier" character), actor Patrick Kerr.
This is one of the good longer episodes they did on "Seinfeld". And it's one of at least three stories "Seinfeld" made in which George seems insane to someone.
Lastly, I love the ending with the farmer's daughter, Susie: "Goodbye, Norman! Goodbye!" (it's been said that the actress said Norman instead of Newman by mistake, and they just kept it in the episode that way because it was funny).
yes, its shown in commentary/behind the episode on the box set
@@chrisguess4344 Thanks!
The guy who plays the father in that episode is Ron Howard's father, Rance. Ron's brother, Clint, was also in a Seinfeld episode, he was a great tipper.
@@giraffesareselfish9563 "But ya *are* Blanche ... ya *are* in the shackles!!"
George should have called Petula Clark for the answer
He enjoys understanding.
This scene was the inspiration for The Office episode where Jim doesn't understand the "rundown" assignment from Charles Miner.
In the end, didnt Wilhelm say what a great job George did even though George didnt do anything?
Yes, wilhelm was off his meds the entire time
You’re right. I believe Wilhelm did the project and forgot that he completed it
And then Steinbrenner got George committed to "The Institute"
@@Trtevoorryu Is that Little Georgie C?
Do you was already done and didn't need redoing
Give him a call. He’ll tell you what I’m doing here.. and you can tell me
I wouldn't follow my boss into the restroom either. I don't care if he was giving mean assignment. I am waiting outside.
Why? It's not a single person restroom. Coworkers and friends talk in restrooms all time.
Bizarre take.
Granted in this episode it wasn't clear Wilhelm was still giving instructions, so I don't blame George.
The bit where they sing the song is the best part!!
I always though Wilhelm looked like Karl Malden.
Yes l!!! Don't leave home without it
Classic George. Had he just leveled with the guy at payroll, maybe he'd have done him a solid and found out the details for him. Always the manipulator however.
he kinda looked like the type of guy that would rat on him tho
I think he HATES payroll, lol
More funny than anything I've seen on TV in the last 20 years.
YOu've watched TV in the past 20 years?
@dmo5207 The Office was pretty bad, especially the last seasons
@@bloodwragefirst few were alright
That little bump into the wall in the opening scene lol blink and you miss it
This assignment reminds me of being in school and not paying attention and missing a important instruction regarding a big project from my teacher and then trying to figure it out . Lol
Could just ask your friends or classmates in that case though.
Look, you were right, I was wrong! You don't have to humiliate me about it, alright!
I wonder if the assignment had anything to do with the Penske file.
Ah Yeah the good old Penske file
Haha it's Noel from Frasier.
I discovered this song cos of seinfeld and now everytime I hear it I think of this episode.
I am almost totally deaf in one ear , so I frequently have to ask for clarification . and some people at work are not nice about it
What?
Me when my boss ask me about the assignment I should be working on.
The payroll employee was also the blind guy piano player in the curb your enthusiasm episode where Larry and Richard helped him move his furniture.
He was also Noel on Frasier.
whenever I think I had a bad day at work I come watch this.
Facts 💯 nothing like laughing at other peoples miseries
I was in a similar situation on a job. Omg it was a nightmare. I finally asked the supervisor about it and surprisingly he helped 👏🏾👏🏾
I enjoy understanding.
Funny to see George how he struggle to figure out all about his assigment 🤣
Run that back to me George. Surprised to see Wilhelm not double check.
The way the title of this video is exactly what’s happening but also lines up with a modern internet phrase
Go head give him a call...he'll tell u what I'm doing here....then u can tell me🤣🤣🤣
The admiral from Voyager. Well done mister Barclay
Boy, if this isn’t corporate life in a nutshell.
I think many people experience this.
Being asked to work on something, even after countless explanations, only to understand and figure it all out a couple of days before it's due.
I would just have to wait till the last minute and then call in sick 😂
Admiral Owen Paris was George's boss, too funny !
Why can I relate to this kind of stuff so much? It's like these guys worked a job in corporate America before they wrote this
See, half of the time, most of George’s problems are not his own fault
Ask Jim what a “Run Down” is.
"Use it in a sentence"
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city. Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty.
What’s the deal with Airline Peanuts?
This is way to similar to some experiences I've had. At the beginning of my career I was too timid and afraid to seek clarification on stuff. Ugh.
No wonder George doesn't fit in this crazy place with Steinberner and Wilheim.
George has an amazing office
There's your answer 😂
"quite a project"
The guy at payroll played noel shemski in frasier
4:12 the sheer fatigue of despair
This is the Penske file round 2 😂
This is exactly why George was not Penske material
Almost every day somethings happens to me that reminds me of a Seinfeld episode
When you're alone and life is making you lonely
You can always go
Downtown
When you've got worries all the noise and the hurry
Seems to help I know
Downtown
Just listen to the music of the traffic in the city
Linger on the sidewalk where the neon signs are pretty
How can you lose?
The light's so much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go downtown
Things will be great when you're
Downtown
No finer place for sure
Downtown
Everything's waiting for you (downtown, downtown)
Don't hang around and let your problems surround you
There are movie shows
Downtown
Maybe you know some little places to go to
Where they never close
Downtown
Just listen to the rhythm of a gentle bossa nova
You'll be dancing with 'em too before the night is over
Happy again
The light's so much brighter there
You can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares
So go downtown
Where all the lights are bright
Downtown
Waiting for you tonight
Downtown
You're gonna be alright now (downtown)
Downtown
Downtown
Downtown
Downtown
And you may find somebody kind to help and understand you
Someone who is just like you and needs a gentle hand
To guide them along
So maybe I'll see you there
We can forget all our troubles, forget all our cares
So go downtown
Things will be great when you're

Don't wait a minute more

@@danholtbk7008 I'll knock u out next time I see u
@Dan Holt BK lol nah I was joking around
Why didn't George just offer the payroll guy $20 to tell him all that Wilhelm just told him .
When you're alone and life is making you lonely you can always go------cray cray.
just think, if George was truthful from the start, told his boss in the bathroom, he was outside waiting for him, came in to check on him, he wouldn't be in that postition. It's a lesson to be learned from watching a fool going through that situation
downtown my favorite song at 4:56
ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS PAY ATTENTION, THAT'S ALL YOU HAD TO DO!!!!!
And you can explain it to me 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve modeled my career after both Kramer and George
With very little success
Ahhh...So you are either unemployed or incompetent or desperately trying to be unemployed but you are too incompetent to achieve your goal which would make you employed and too competent for your own good. Interesting.
The guy at payroll is Michael the blind pianist from Curb
He planned the Hanoi bombing after a bad Thai meal 😂😂😂.
I swear, Seinfeld the show was based in my life. I even went out wint a one dressed lady. A Romanian with one dress only and one bathing suit. That thing was about to disappeared in the water cause it was worn off
Tooooopppppp prrrriiiioooorrrriiitttyy! 😆
The most terrifying thing is that we'll never know what kind of stuff Whilhelm wrote in George's report to make him look absolutely demented 😂🤣
I always thought the assignment was to get a player from the Mets Organization into the Yankees Organization. Hence going to the payroll department and the "downtown" references. Trading players, free agency, something like that.
Typical meetings with the bosses, a waste of time. They just like to hear themselves speak to subordinates and justify their positions in management. When it is time to make the budget cuts, they are the first to go. Shows how irrelevant they really are to the company.
- When is dinner?
- We just ate!
I always loved the song "Downtown".
@Thief_is_my_favorite_movie 😁
George should have had Jerry call in and say George had an accident, slipped and hit his head on a urinal and he was so fired up about the assignment that he remembers you giving this assignment and he doesn't want to disappoint everyone, I'm calling to inquire about all the details because frankly, George isn't making a lot of sense and he keeps singing about downtown. So if you just give me the details, George will be fine tomorrow and his mind will be at peace... ah huh... I see... the assignment is all in the song? Thank you... thanks. Bye. Well George...
You sir deserve to be a writer on the show, cuz that's pretty funny too
Did anyone ever figure out what the project was?
They took my belt Jerry!
Frustrating and funny. Loved this episode.
Noel chempsky 😂
4:00-4:05 looook I was right you were wrong you don't have to humiliate me about it
I have nightmares about things like this.
"I`m sorry sir I just walked in here now I missed everything you said. I stayed out in the hallway to give you some privacy." Problem solved.
"You're fired." Problem solved.
Anybody notice the guy in payroll is the blind guy from curb your enthusiasm
You'd have to be blind to not notice that . 😊
George.. hello George..
George is Wilhelm's prodige ;)
His name is Tanya
I feel like I’m a Seinfeld character in my own life.
Which project did he mention to you. Im currently working in two separate ones and need to make sure we're tracking.
That payroll guy is always playing guys like the payroll guy.
