I have copper blonde hair, freckles, and greenish gray eyes. I am a warm undertone. When I did my color analysis in person the cool colors made me look gray. I was always drawn to the Spring colors and I turned out to be a Spring, but I also loved a lot of the pastel summer colors, but when they were draped my face looked drawn and my eyes lost their brightness. I find colors fascinating.
I love your explanation of the skin tone vs. undertone. I always thought I was warm b/c of “overtone” but got typed as a cool winter recently and it changed my world. What I find so interesting is how many fashion and makeup youtubers don’t have any knowledge at all about the difference between undertone and skin tone. They continue to give lots of incorrect advice because they don’t know.
Oh boy, I have a lot to say! 😂. I am a Winter and have been professionally draped twice in my life. I was born with dark brown hair and Snow White skin. My eyes are a dark brown, but as I am aging they look cool Olive and brown close up. As my fair skin was exposed to a lot of sun, my freckles which are genetic, came alive! Sun just brought them out. They are very soft brown and cover much of my skin on my face. So, when hair stylists and makeup artists look at me, they see an almost peachy tone. I think that’s because my cool skin and the freckles on top combine the pink and brown and make peach. Anyway I have been convinced way too often to try copper or caramel highlights in my dark hair, and it looks awful. Also, the amount of warm makeup I have purchased in the past is scary! It looks like it is sitting on my face. However, the super cool toned makeup and lipsticks almost are too bright against the freckle peachy overtone I have. So, while I am a True Winter, I am now at 60 years old, leaning a bit more to the Dark Winter palette because it’s not as obviously cool to my eye. Ok, I think I’m done. 😊😂
My mum had loads of freckles. She used to say that she didn't get a tan in the summer - it was just her freckles joining up. I've always had freckles on my face and arms and some on my legs. Plenty of moles as well. Mum and I had matching moles near our left elbows!
This was super informative. I remembered how before getting a professional color analysis, I thought I was a spring because of my warm overtone and my freckles. The draping process revealed that I am a winter, but I was always confused why. It makes so much sense now!😊
I have lots of freckles. I’ve had them since I was young. I don’t tan easily and get lots more freckles instead of a regular tan. I was professionally analyzed as a True Autumn. I also have hazel eyes. However I have pink in my face and lots of,people thought I was cool toned. It can be very confusing. However, now that I know my season and am slowly getting rid of my closet full of cool clothing including tons of Black, I can see how much more flattering the warm colours are on me, esp. when they are also of the right chroma and depth of colour. Thanks for your video! Very informative.
I have tons of freckles in my face and arms. I was told winters can't have freckles, and that freckles mean you're soft. Turns out I'm a bright winter!
Thanks for sharing! I have many freckles, and have had at least some since I was a toddler. My freckles actually have quite a warm tone, but perhaps that's more their contrast with my definitely cool skin!
Thank you!!! I'm a very pale skinned and heavily freckled, blue eyed redhead. I never tan; I'm either red (sunburnt) with freckles or pale white with freckles. Every single colour consultant I've ever spoken to instantly typed me as warm. They'll usually say I'm an autumn (which autumn varies) even though 90% of the autumn colours look terrible on me!!! My freckles fade a little in the winter and my skin gets so pale it's blue-ish white! I'm definitely cool. I tentatively typed myself as a soft summer. Hopefully one day I can get confirmation of it by someone who has the experience and the open mind to see what I see! I'm struggling with colours right now because I'm going white and colours that used to look great sometimes look a bit off now. It's frustrating! Freckles run on the maternal side of my family; everyone has some but no one has as many as I do!
This is interesting Sarah. I’m a Cool Winter as you know and as a child I had freckles across my nose. Unfortunately, I never tanned but always, always burned 🥴.
Great detail and content as usual Sarah !! I’m 60 now had a lot of freckles as a child in part due to exposure to elements in Australia using very little protection. My freckles lessened as I aged , so yes as you say looking past the outer tone , I have yellow undertone True Spring ! I was analyzed in 16 season by a lady from Canada 😜 Love your accent and attention to details 😄
I love my freckles! I didn’t have any when I was very young but I got more and more every summer as a child. I don’t get as freckly as I used to because I’ve learned to take better care of my skin, and I seem to burn much more easily as an adult! However, as soon as I go in the sun my freckles “come out” even if I use suncream. My freckles along with my hair and eye colour made me think I was a very warm person, but when I was draped in person I actually looked best in neutral-warm colours! I am a house of colour blue spring but I would love to know what I am in your system
I have freckles (and liver spots after pregnancy). I believe I’m a dark autumn, or true autumn but I’m not sure. My skin is more clear in winter when I am at my palest, and the skin looks more soft in late summer and fall due to all the pigment that are messily spread around in my face ( they act almost as a blurring filter). I do agree with the example, it really makes freckles pop
A particularly good video, thank you. I've been analysed as cool and soft (ish), so closest to True Summer. I have freckles in summer despite sunscreen, and I wonder if it looks a bit odd when they first appear because I'm so obviously cool underneath. To reinforce what you're saying, trying to wear a warm colour just because I have freckles looks really grim, because it's all about the undertone. If I do that, it makes the freckles stand out and the rest of my skin looks drained. Ugh.
I am cool undertoned with freckles. I am fair haired (sort of dark blonde/mousy brown when young now a lovely soft whitishgrey) and have freckles everywhere the sun kisses. The freckles on my face faded when I reached adulthood which I think is quite common in us proper freckly types. I am now 60 plus and since I have been treating my skin with retinol the freckles on my face have been 'revealed' again, which I find quite sweet. People usually assume I am a spring (warm undertone). But colours with (too much) yellow in them make me look a bit weird kind of overly yellow, pink and grey at the same time. I come from an arty colour aware family (went to art classes when others played sport when I was a kid). Without doing colour analysis or understanding why I could alway see that I looked much better in cool colours...though I think I used to treat myself more as a winter than a summer, which fitted in with my look and social group.
I have been typed online as a fully cool "season". - cool clear light in tonal analysis. (+ Some people who are interested in color analysis think that I seem to be a summer). I have freckels on my nose in the summer, and I unfortunately also got pigment spots/sun spots
Thank you for another informative video. Such an interesting topic too! I just have a quick question. I'm confused about something you mentioned. If someone has a warm undertone (they have been analyzed) and they also have age spots, would you recommend that they avoid warm colours (so they don't draw more attention to the spots)?
I've got loads of freckles on my face and arms. They've been there since the age of 2 so definitely genetic, though I have acquired some sun damage since. Likely due to lack of high SPF sunscreen in the 1970s and 80s. My hair was red and I wouldn't be surprised if some may have thought I had a warm undertone due to the freckles and red hair. I'm definitely a cool undertone. My skin is really pale with blue veins.
Blue veins don't tell you anything. I have been typed a fully cool season. But my veins are blue, green and purple on my wrist. And many color analyst has said that the vein-test don't tell you if you are warm or cool
I have neutral-cool skin and have been typed in person as a brown/soft summer. What’s funny is that while I have freckles and they always come out in summer (even with sunscreen!), they’re low contrast and more dusty or cool-shaded. They don’t pop against my skin as much as other people’s, even though they’re across my whole face. My mom has much darker hair than me and her freckles seem more high contrast against her pale skin. I’m sure it’s not always the case, but I feel like my freckles make me look even more like my season since they add color but ina really diffuse way.
I'm cool and I was freckle faced as a child. At some point the freckles become age spots =/ Pregnancy can bring out a lot of brown patches, known by some as the mask of pregnancy.
It is possible that your undertone is changing with age like eye colors and hair colors? I have a debatte about this topic 😅 I don’t think so, but what do you think Sarah?
Another common myth is that light skin or fair skin = cool undertones or that sunburning first = cool. I am fully warm (warm spring) and have very light skin and burn in seconds outside. First time my colors got done I got put into cool summer and the colors made me look very gray.
I've read that freckles are an indicator of more muted coloring, so more commonly seen in summers and autumns. But obviously you are busting that myth yourself! Though IMO it does seem unlikely that someone whose dominant characteristic is clarity would have freckles. Personally, I'm an autumn and I do not freckle. I have some small moles since childhood, but they don't increase when I'm getting more sun.
I have had a faint scattering of freckles since childhood. I'm a True Winter. In addition to being told the freckles mean I'm warm, I was told my autumn-ey hazel eye color also means that I am warm. Nope. (It was screamingly obvious under drapes - with a medical doctor bestie witness present who was positive I was driving her to witness non-scientific "juju." She was blown away and left, saying, "You know what? That was all simply Physics. I'm a believer!") I was also one of those from your last video's comments whose eyes changed color significantly after babyhood. I have actually had to pull out photo albums from my childhood to prove I wasn't deluded about having had cornflower blue eyes in the 2nd grade. People just want to be right and fuss, don't they? 😉
I have had freckles since I was a toddler, and I am 100% a cool undertone. Anything with even a hint of yellow in it makes me look AWFUL. For makeup, I can go cool or neutral, but never warm.
Please share if you have freckles and whether you have a cool or warm undertone! 😊

🍂🍁 Autumn with freckles here 🙋♀️ Love all warm colours
I’m very cool-toned and have freckles, especially during summer and despite wearing sunscreen.
Me too! 🙌

Matching moles! How cute! 🥰
I am the same as you! My mother had lots of freckles. I have always had them. My “tan” is often just lots more freckles.
This was super informative. I remembered how before getting a professional color analysis, I thought I was a spring because of my warm overtone and my freckles. The draping process revealed that I am a winter, but I was always confused why. It makes so much sense now!😊

This fuschia colour looks amazing on you

I have some freckles and tan easily. My overtone is def warm, but undertone leans cool, I’ve been typed soft summer. (:
Nice! A great example of this theory. Thanks for sharing ☺️🙏

I have some freckles during summer and I am a soft summer 😊
Lovely! Another great example! Thanks Sarah 💕
¡Gracias!
Thank you so much for your generosity and support!

Thanks for sharing!! The skin tone changes a lot so we can’t really type a person based off of that. We must look to the undertone ☺️💕

I talk about this in many of my videos, including this one I believe ☺️
Lots of dark freckles (not orange) and darkish red hair, I’ve been typed an autumn.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing! 🍂

I'm a light spring, and totally covered in freckles. The peach still comes through.
I don’t buy into that theory, I’ve never heard it before but thank you for sharing 💕☺️
I’m a bright spring with freckles! I can totally understand why it seems unlikely though
I have tons of golden freckles! Like... golden orange :D
Beautiful ☺️💕
I’ve been told I’m neither cool or warm but neutral tone. Does that even make sense?
Temperature is a spectrum! ☺️💕
I freckled a bit as a child across the upper cheeks and bridge of the nose. Now as an adult I only have them on my arms and chest.
☺️
