    We go through this mower fully to get it ready for sale and go over what to check out if you are planning on purchasing a used mower
    Looking at these things and knowing what to buy when it comes to a mower purchase is huge!
    We go through a full diagnostic and give common causes for running and other engine / mower issues and what to look for
    Do not go to get a used mower without taking a look or doing some research into the red flags
    We first check out the tires, go through the engine, deck and drive train
    We check out all of the stuff that would be a possible issue and make sure there will be no more issues once we sell it
    We repair all of the issues we find including:
    Replacing the tires, blades, fuel line, spindles, idler pulleys, deck belt, drag link, chute, valve cover gasket & ignition coil
    Rebuilding and leveling the deck on a Craftsman Riding Mower
    We show how to check the spark and check each cylinder to make sure it is working
    Symptoms we see of this same issue are low or no power or bogs under a load
    We show the full process for each
    We also show how to do a leakdown test on a Briggs & Stratton v twin engine and how to adjust the valve spacing
    We include what tools will be needed and the full diagnostic process along with why we are thinking the things we are
    This is all done on a Craftsman 42" Riding Mower Model 917.273461 DLT3000
    With a Briggs & Stratton 25HP Engine Extended Life Series ELS725 446777-0246-E1

      @@IndRepair Yes sir!!!! I am trying to further my knowledge in this industry and make a name and a way for myself where I am. Due to a family member falling into a disability I am unable to go back to work while taking care of them, so flipping push mowers and relying on my current knowledge has kept the bills paid. You cover so much ground in your videos and give a thorough approach to explaining why and what. I am building my confidence up in the world of valves, pistons, rods and what not. I am going to be a BAD mechanic following you bro!!!! I am definitely going to keep you updated on my journey and the application of what I am learning here.

    Love the videos. Very informative. A great tool for the fuel line cutting is the PEX tubing cutter- the cheap one without the cam gear assist. They leave a nice clean cut and do not pull on the cloth strands in the OEM Briggs and Stratton fuel line. Thank you for sharing.

    I like to work clean so I would have completely cleaned that deck before starting. After removing everything it would have been easy to wire brush off the surface rust and hit it with spray paint. Then the deck would have matched the tractor and presented much better (for a higher price tag!).
    Also, I brush on used motor oil to the deck underside. Only takes a minute and preserves the metal a bit.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      I ended up hitting it with Spray paint after a quick hand brush and power washing when on. It looks brand new now the video was just soooooo long

    As a Swede I'm impressed about how cheap mowers and parts are in the US. To buy a mower like that one in that condition would cost you at least 700 USD. To fix it up would cost a lot. I cant find a tire under 40 USD if I dont import them from Germany. Fixed up a machine like that and you could sell it for at least 1200 USD here.
    Greatings from Sweden

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      It is about the same retail value here, right about $1,200-$1,400 depending on the time of the year when it is all fixed up and been gone through. The parts are definitely cheaper here. I get a 15x6-6 tire from $20-$22 usually from distributors for regular Carlisle but the turf masters are quite a bit more. I did a quick search on Amazon and they have the Carlisle regular tread on one day delivery for $24.95. It is a crazy world we live in! Took a lot of work but in the end it will pay off good on this one. Thanks for watching!

      For sure! It is hid extremely well under the deck and is just surface rust so not too worried about it. I don't sell them ridiculously high anyway but get close to half of that normally with something like this

    I know it's been a while but did you check that the after fire sol on the carb was working? Based on some of the other stuff done to this mower I wouldn't put it past the previous repair guy just clipping the tip off it.

    • @IndRepair

      Went through the carburetor completely If I remember right... The aftermarket coil was making it shut off funny, I ended up putting on the old one and no issue, so I replaced it also.

    The K46 in my x300 and k98 in my x728 have always whined. I think tuff torq transmissions are just noisy. Maybe you talking about a different type of whine.

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  9 дней назад

      They will always make a little noise but if they are really loud that is a good indication that there is air in the system or major wear

    What’s the most common problem you see in mowers besides bad gas? Carburetor?

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      Carburetor Issues caused from bad gas and bad gas is definitely number one. Number two is a hard one because there is nothing else that even comes close to the volume that comes in with bad fuel. User error #2?

    • @jaimeg9058
      @jaimeg9058 3 месяца назад +1

      Got it. Is it even worth it to clean the carb or just buy a new one and replace it? Wouldn’t a new one extend the life vs trying to clean the current one? What’s the average cost of a job like a carb swap?

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      Depending on the situation, how much time you have, the cost of your time and the condition of your parts it may or may not be worth repairing. On an engine like this we have a video on aftermarket carb replacement at ruclips.net/video/td8tWGDrFNo/видео.html

    • @IndRepair
      @IndRepair  3 месяца назад

      Carb change varies greatly. Some of the cheaper carburetors are only $40-$50 for an aftermarket plus a couple hours labor. Many brands and engine models we refuse to use an aftermarket carburetor since thwy do not seem to work work. Some OEM carbs run $300 and up, so it really depends
