What kind of a society is it where a child asking for a desk is seen as a bad thing. If my young child asked for one I'd be so proud. Probably wants to draw, write or whatever with it. No wonder kids are getting thicker, just stuck in their phones and typing in shorthand.
I got a desk as a birthday gift (or perhaps christmas gift) from my parents when I was a child, and I liked it. So I don't see the problem with it either. Of course, I always was a goody two-shoes kid that liked homework, and I'm doing drugs with soap stars as I write this.
Older people seem to moan a lot about kids, teens and young adults, almost as if they weren't the ones responsible for raising them & teaching them that there's more to life than just the internet.

If that topic is what you need to fill your columns with, maybe write less often? Bog off Myleen!
