  • The warm, tropical waters of the Gulf Stream carries planktonic life, including juvenile fish. Occasionally, these young fish ride the current all the way to New England. While these juveniles can thrive here during the summer, they are unable to survive during the winter. That's where the Gulf Stream Orphan Project comes in!
The GSO Project is a local collecting effort that happens every fall to find the these tropical fish in New England waters. Many of them are brought to the Aquarium to live in our exhibits, and you can visit them today! In our newest video, Giant Ocean Tank manager Mike explains how we collect fish as part of the GSO Project.
