I am sad that Elvis suffered so much with health issues
during his Lifetime. I am also grateful that he was born and that he used
so much of his life making people happy through his music and
his humanity. Thank you Elvis for giving us all you had for as long as you could. You will be remembered and loved always. Rest in Peace sweet man...

I think that Dr. Nick cared for Elvis to the best of his ability. I think he tried to keep the bad medications away from Elvis. Elvis told him he was sharing them with the guys and he was. Like Dr. Nick said at the trial he didn't want Elvis getting stuff off of the streets. Elvis had health problems that weren't talked about or studied about in the 70's. Thank you Trey. Elvis fans need to see this.

Science has come a long way since the 70s. Elvis might have gotten better if he had the proper diagnosis and the right kind of doctor. I'm not disrespecting Dr. Nick, I just meant a gastroenterologist would have been able to treat his colon problem's better. It took 6 month's for the gastroenterologist to diagnose my daughter when she came down with Crohn's disease. Myself and another daughter were diagnosed with the same condition, it's hard to diagnose and not easy to treat. Elvis would've needed a break and a lot of test's to find the cause of his condition.

@@margarettaylor8107 How sad my daughter got an ileostomy when she was 17 she has Crohn's disease. I've got 2 daughters who have it but her's was critical. The doctor told me she wouldn't live past 30 she's going to be 49 December 8th so she has been really blessed she's been through a lot but I'm very happy she got to have a life. She had 2 children another 2 miracles I know the pain I've got it too but not like her. She was diagnosed at age 7, it's been a long road but we have made it through. I knew Elvis was not well I couldn't understand why others couldn't see it.

@@sandramaggard2962 He had multiple incurable conditions..some were manageable . He had a colon 4x normal, a twisted colon, and a spastic colon and had paralysis of the colon. Painful? You and your daughter know. It is thought he had a virus that caused the paralysis. He suffered immensely. He knew it would kill him eventually. He needed pain meds..could not function with pain and without them. Dr Nick often just gave him placebos..that did not control his pain so he sought out other doctors. And Dr Nick has said Elvis was not addicted. Ginger Alden said that too.I could explain if necessary. He was never fat..bloated which he lost with a good colon movement. And people made fun of his weight.I am sure that hurt him. The Stanley brothers would take bets seeing who could get closest to the date he would die. So many Judases around him.Dr. Nick was not one. He was a friend.

The guys All said(including cousin Billy) that when Dr. Nick was around Elvis was in much better health. Dr Nick got a bad rap. It was the other Drs that were giving him the drugs. He knew Dr Nick wouldn't and he even fired him a couple of times like the others. But Dr Nick told him he didn't work for him. Lol I can't believe how sharp his mind is after having a stroke. We did have a problem understanding him sometimes, so thank you Trey for putting his words up! You are so lucky to have known him! I bet you heard alot of Elvis stories. DR. Nick wrote narcotic Rx.for Elvis. There is evidence of that. And a lot. Way more than is healthy for any human. Every state has a central database, where it keeps track of narcotic Rx. Exactly which doctors are writing which Rx and for who. Now they do it by computer, where in the old days they did it by paper. Also in the old days they had to investigate each pharmacy- whereas now it ( all the data, Rx ) is all kept in a central database

Thanks for sharing Robert, yes maybe people with similar experiences like you will now put Elvis in a human situation. Unfortunately, Elvis had these health issues the last part of his life and I strongly feel it led to him hitting the road on us. He was over worked as well on tours! He needed rest!

    • @rwieber79
      @rwieber79 4 года назад +7

@@GlobetrottingWithTrey He most definitely needed rest! I can't imagine anyone in perfect health doing 2 or 3 shows a day like he did sometimes and especially as much as he put into his shows. I really wish he took the time needed to get all that stuff took care of so he could have been around longer but it just wasnt to be. I was born in Sept of 79 but because his movies and concerts were on tv all the time growing up I didn't find out he wasn't still alive until I was around 7 or 8 when my dad finally told me he had died in 77 before I was born. I was asking him if we could go see a concert one night when I it was Aloha was on tv and that's when my dad told me the story about how he died and even a personal story of his that he and my mom had plans to go to what ended up being his last concert in indy but dad wasnt able to get off work. Well they saw Elvis was coming here to Louisville on the next tour in August of 77 so they said well just get tickets then and go here so they didn't have to drive to Indy or risk getting in trouble at work. Ofcourse we all know that August tour didn't happen and my dad regrets to this day not taking off work anyway and going to Indianapolis to see Elvis because he never got to see him live either. Just goes to show how much Elvis meant to and still means to us fans. There will never be anyone else like him.

He thanked and praised God thru his gospel song at every concert. No other does that. GOD blessed and loved elvis. So so so much. And he did prosper but he shared what he had. And donated like no other. Never ever will there ever be another. He has my heart and always will. I feel so connected to him. On a Godly basis. I know you. Understand what I mean. Sandra. Miller. Hey Trey, I never comment on videos, not even on Spa Guy's...lol....I don't know when or if you will get this reply or if you go back to check on your videos that are over a week old...but I just had to say, I cannot stop thinking about this particular video of yours. I mean it is awesome....but it's more than that....it is beyond awesome!! I had heard about Elvis's constipation problem before and autopsy...(on the Reelz channel Autopsy, they backed up everything Dr Nick stated)....but my FAVORITE part of the whole video (in addition to Dr Nick's sincere words and the look on his eyes) was your commentary at the end...the look in your own eyes as you spoke of your friendship and your experience with Dr. Nick...you were very sincere and honest....it almost made me cry. You were genuine and it was touching and totally believable. I think maybe the whole or part of the Elvis mystique or whatever you want to call it was how Elvis passed so young, and all the press about how lots of people seemed to take advantage of Elvis for their own gain, and no one could seem to help Elvis from self destruction when Elvis seemed to have it all....it's just sad at the end. But your video puts down the whole idea of suicide or that Elvis knew what he was doing it that he accidentally took too much medication. Your video definitely brings out the human side of Elvis....and that is touching and amazing. Beyond awesome job Trey!! Sincerely.

Remember when you were a kid and kids would play the passing out game ? I remember kids squatting down and taking 10 deep breaths and they would stand up . Then someone else would press on their chest until they passed out . I remember my cousin doing that down in her basement and she fell on her dad's pool table and knock her tooth out . I thought no way !! It scared me half to death . This sounds like what Dr. Nick is talking about ( slowing down your heart ) . It makes a lot of sense how that could happen . I remember Dr. Nick explaining this in another video about Elvis being so constipated . He said , Elvis' colon was like cement when they done Elvis' autopsy . I guess Dr. Nick tried his best to help Elvis . I don't know how Elvis wasn't doubled over in pain though ? I don't know how he stood it ? That had to have been miserable . So sad . What Dr Nick is talking about is absolutely true. After pushing and straining people with underlying medical issues like high blood pressure can suffer a heart attack. I’ve been an advanced practice nurse & I know opiates and some other drugs Elvis was dependent on will cause constipation. Elvis was on a huge amount of opiates for a long time so his tolerance was high Dr Nick knows opiates and benzodiazepines were a contributory factor in Elvis’s early demise but is saving face to an extent. Elvis was quite intelligent and well versed regarding the drugs he took but addiction is a gripping, very real hell. Patients stay on the drugs fearing withdrawal. Valsalva maneuver caused his death but polypharmacy was contributory.

Dr Nick is partly to blame because he provided the weapon for Elvis to kill himself. Any medical doctor that actually cares for his patients would never prescribe the variety and amount of deadly narcotics that Dr Nick prescribed Elvis. The prescription records are public and you can see what Nick prescribed to Elvis on Aug 15, 1977 (the day before Elvis died) and the amounts are mind boggling. He wrote Elvis pain pills, sleeping pills, nerve pills, and even a drug only used by patients in stage 4 cancer. He even wrote him liquid drugs for use by injection. Dr. Nick was a quack!

After listening to Dr. Nick you could tell he really cared about Elvis. I understand about IBD myself and 2 of my 3 daughter's have Crohn's disease, it may not be the same condition Elvis had but I know about the pain he endured. If you've ever had a cramp in your colon you would understand. Elvis had a lot of health problem's but I think Elvis was aware of his condition. Elvis gave all he had to give until he could give no more. God called Elvis home, we all miss him but what a blessing to get to experience such a kind and loving man. Elvis was a good man, he loved with all he had. Nobody is perfect but I choose to remember people for the good they have done and like Sammy Davis said, all that other jazz doesn't matter. Ty Trey, a very good video that should clear a lot of thing's up. God bless you.

I've got relative's with Crohn's disease and ulcerative cololitis. Thank you, I'm really happy there's more awareness now, I've got Crohn's disease too but not as bad as my daughter, I'm currently on Prednisone and have trouble sleeping, having Jesus in my life make's everything more barable. Elvis was told he needed surgery on his colon. He turned it down because the doctors told Elvis that they would have to remove part of his colon and he would have to wear a bag afterwards. Elvis said no because he couldn’t wear a bag and perform in concerts for his fans. Dr. Nick built a huge house in Memphis, lived their I guess until he died. The house was so large the bank wouldn’t lend him all the money he needed to build it so Dr. Nick went to Elvis and borrowed I think it was $250,000.00. Elvis gave it to him. Don’t know if Dr. Nick ever paid Elvis back. Dr. Nick did what he could for Elvis, which was great but Elvis did so much for Dr. Nick. Hired his son, Nick. Bought cars for them, Took Dr. Nick, wife and son on vacations with him. Bought jewelry for all of the family. Paid all expenses on out of town tours and shows, Dr. Nick and his wife many times. They had a wonderful friendship. Elvis was never going to let his fans down that is why he kept pushing himself. That and his Ex-Wife, Priscilla, taking him to court after their divorce at two or three times getting millions from Elvis to keep her lavish lifestyle up in Hollywood. Elvis paid it to her because he loved his precious daughter, Lisa Marie. Priscilla is the one that nearly broke him. Now that Lisa Marie has left us, Priscilla is fighting the will of Lisa Marie to keep Lisa’s daughters from getting Graceland and everything connected to it. We fans need to pray that Priscilla or Michael Lockwood DOES NOT get by with this protest of Lisa Marie’s will. Elvis and Lisa Marie loved Graceland so much. It was their safe haven. Vernon and Gladys, and Minnie Mae are buried there along with Elvis, Lisa Marie and her son Benjamin. They are all Presley Blood . Miss Priscilla Ann Wagner Beaulieu is not. When Priscilla left Elvis she went to California to Mike Stone and her many other guys, having an illegitimate son by one. Elvis told after the divorce to never use the PRESLEY name for anything. Soon after Elvis died she started using the PRESLEY name for $$$$$$$$$ and has been using it for over 55 years. Time to pass it to Elvis’s granddaughters and greatgranddaughter. Priscilla has made millions of dollars off of Elvis and his daughter, Lisa Marie. Elvis left NOTHING to Priscill Ann Wagner Beaulieu in his will. When Vernon and Minnie Mae died it was all left to Lisa Marie.

Dr Nick was like family to Elvis, with modern technology like cat scans etc they could have probably detected the colon blockage, having had experience with prescription drug addiction myself it is common for painkiller type drugs to cause constipation and generally drying up you're crap, it would not be unusual for that to lead to the colon problem, I often say it's not important how Elvis died but that he lived, to think his mother endured a stillborn birth to then give birth to the number 1 entertainer of all time is up there with the miracle of the birth of Jesus, his mother was the Virgin Mary, Elvis was here for 42 years but his legacy will outlast us all.

Change of diet, exercise, increased water and fiber would have made a difference, it’s sad Elvis didn’t have a dietician on his staff. Good to hear from Dr Nick thanks for sharing Trey. I know you knew him and I don't doubt Dr Nick cared about Elvis. Elvis would never have hired him for all those years if he wasn't a good man. The only time they fell out as I understand it was in 1976 over the Raquetball saga. When they parted company Elvis got in another doctor who nearly killed him a year before he died. If you listen to Houston We Have A Problem you can hear the worst concert Elvis ever did he was clearly out of it. The Colonel actually got Dr Nick back to sort of the problems with this other doctor and Elvis got it back towards the end of the year. Dr Nick did overprescibe for Elvis but I think the internal damage had already been done by these other doctors. One thing that's alway puzzled me though is why Dr Nick pumped out the contents of Elvis stomach before the autopsy. If there was nothing to hide why do that. And why did he only come up with this theory about how Elvis died all these years later. Somethings don't add up but I don't hate Dr Nick he was in a position where if he didn't give the pills then Elvis would get someone in who did..and when he did that before they gave him more destructive medication that Nick gave so he was in a no win situation as was Elvis. Sadly.

While he wasn't responsible for Elvis choices he was responsible for
    being a willing contributor.
Trying to control what he took came a little too late in the game.
As a physician he was either highly incompetent or just too caught up
in the lifestyle keeping Elvis happy afforded him.

Agree completely. All these comments about “aww poor doctor Nick and poor Elvis”
I’m a gigantic Elvis fan but the man was a straight up drug addict plain and simple. This man willingly gave him these prescriptions and by the boat load. Demerol and dilaudid are taken by people that are pretty much dying and Elvis had a ton of it prescribed by this man. Perhaps he had colon issues, fine ok, but taking massive amounts of opiates and downers certainly didn’t help the issue any bit especially with constipation being one of the main side effects. This man wasn’t a saint and he wasn’t wrongfully accused. Just an easy look online will show what this man prescribed Elvis before his last tour.Elvis wasn’t a saint, he was a grown ass man that made his own decisions. Nobody could have helped him except himself.

@@markus5862 Absolutely. I was 14 when he died and they aired that horrible last filmed concert.
Even at that age I said he's not fat, he's filled with fluid. I had seen that in my grandmother all my life
with her ongoing congestive heart failures , high blood pressure and heart attacks.
One of the organizers for a British fan club was in a row very close to the stage at one of his last concerts.
He said he could see that Elvis was clearly jaundiced. How did the doctor not see this?
He was a money making machine injected and filled up to keep him going and pacified.
Nicopolous was accused of overprescrping others including his own daughter.
His manager also had the power to act in his behalf and not book concerts due to the shape he was in.
Most people who are that addicted cannot act in their own best interest, no one else in my opinion who
      could have did anything either.
You may not have the power to stop someone but out real concern you do not contribute to it.

Just seeing this now. When Lisa Marie had Oprah at Graceland, I remember her saying a relative asked her if she had a "BM" one day. She was mortified of course, but also said that constipation ran in the Presley family. I'm wondering if she has been or should be tested for what Elvis had wrong with his colon. I'm sure the drugs didn't help, so many of them can cause constipation as well so it seemed like it may have been a double whammy for Elvis. I've also read that Dr. Nick would slip placebos into Elvis drug regimen to slow down his intake. I never blamed Dr. Nick, Elvis could get any "yes man" Dr. to prescribe whatever he wanted. Just sad all the way around, even all these years later. Thank you for this upload. New follower here.

Hi Trey, Thanks for sharing this video today, and your personal thoughts on Dr Nick. There's lots of ways too look at Elvis' demise, it's awful too say ,but doctors if knowing he had a almost complete bowel blockage, knew surgery might have helped or corrected this problem chose too do nothing, on grounds that this is Elvis Presley, and if he dies under the knife (surgery) we'll be held accountable, but they sure we're not hindered in over prescribing pills too him, which contributed too his early death, along with poor diet, and other health problems, and all the touring which probably contributed too, it just seems like a double standard. Surgery, maybe could have corrected his colon problem, but drugs were prescribed instead? I think for us too look at his death now, and try too equate answers too why this happened, it's hard too see for some, because we weren't there, too personally see Elvis in his private time away from the cameras, and too seek answers from the doctors who saw Elvis, because most are dead now too, one Doctor is no better or worse than the other, because they all in one since or the other failed Elvis, by neglecting him as a person instead of seeing him as their meal ticket, and avoiding his physical problems, because no surgery too correct his problems were offered, just pills prescribed, there was no Betty Ford's clinic's too help at the time, too curb his addiction, and who could say No too Elvis Presley, and then you add Elvis too the equation, and his own ability too not make the changes for well being that could have prolonged his life. Yes Dr Nick too many was a swell guy, he was over his head, and allowed himself too be put in a questionable position, that passed the patient, Doctor relationship, many mistakes were made, not only by the doctors who treated Elvis, but by Elvis himself. Trey thanks for sharing this, most have never heard Dr Nick speak in person about Elvis. Your friend Bonnie
