- A collection of photos and a few short videos of my loco coming together to a state of what I would say is 'complete' (for now anyway)
This video is part of a series of me commissioning an unfinished Metre Maid 0-6-0 purchased from Station Road Steam into a Sweet Pea style 0-6-0 locomotive with a more generously sized chimney and eventually cab (purely because I want the loco to be bigger!)
Check out the entire playlist below for more videos of progress!

Cheers Kev, appreciate all your support and YT channel for continued inspiration!
Fantastic! I struggle with the proportions of the metre maid, this is the first one I've seen that looks right to me. Would like right at home on a horticultural tramway!
This loco did start out with a 'Metre Maid' cab and chimney (see if you can find it in the 'Station Road Steam' archive), however, as I am influenced by narrow gauge from my 16mm scale days I have ended up with the loco you see today 😊
@@tom_tom_gometre maid is still narrow gauge, just with a lower loading gauge, personally I do prefer the look of the taller chimney on them. Good job!
Very nice engine, well done!
Are you adding a tender? We have just bought a sweet pea and are looking to add a tender on, so we are looking for more info on building or buying one 👍
I do not like being hunched over while operating a loco which a tender causes, the saddle tank is large so stores sufficient water. There are plans available to build a tender though, search for 'Blackgates Engineering'.
Superb workmanship. What is the paint finish?
Thank you for the comment. The paint finish was achieved by using both brush and spray paints. The weathered front buffer beam is a trial, I might paint it back to red or continue weathering the entire loco.
