Well, this is a good solution, but too expensive to ship cheap records. While I shipped more than 300 LPs so far, I have never had any problem shipping with cheap regular Amazon box with 2 fillers. When I send expensive ones, I just double box it.

There's other material than can be used to protect records yet this is the right way doing it, records outside sleeve, protective plastic and stiffeners around sleeve/record. Some countries do not have cheap rates on shipping to other continents, sometimes it can be a pain to explain a buyer why it is $15,00 usd to ship him one record. This tutorial is also good for buyers not only sellers :).

I just cut out 3 pieces of cardboard 13"x13" (that I get for free). Then I go in this order.. carboard - album cover - carboard - sleeve and record (separated to avoid damaging the sleeve)- cardboard.. Afterwards i use packing tape around the entire thing 4 times, it'll look like a number symbol in the middle when I'm done (#).. Then finally i put it in a brake rotor box (i get them for free from a mechanic friend, same size box as in the video but much stronger cardboard) and fill the rest with bubble wrap (that i also get for free)... The record is now prepared to survive a postal war, it doesn't cost me anything and the postage is cheap since it goes media mail
That was a great video, thanks. Sorry, but you made me laugh.. in a good way, You are so specific about everything, but hey, I am glad you care about the customer. Cudos to you!!!
I am glad i made you laugh I agree but whats not funny is how many folks out there still package and ship records poorly I still get about 1/2 of the records I purchase that I have to send back because of shipping damage
you don't have to use exactly what I do but I believe the video lets you know why records get damaged so know you can ship accordingly. I appreciate you comments Ron
I never got any negative contacts about the way I had packaged them, but after watching your video and seeing how the records could easily damage the covers I see that I was probably quite fortunate. I just need to find a proper size pizza box to use as a pattern. I stopped selling records because packaging was costly and time consuming, but you made it look much simpler and cheaper. I used to use A LOT of bubble wrap.
basically I used the best and cheapest thing I could find that would protect the records while in transit. Keeping in mind how records get damaged and packaging to avoid them. you can find better boxes but they weigh more and cost a lot more
It looks like a lot of people watch your tutorial, and it’s excellent. I find that now my biggest problem is people sending the vinyl outside of the album cover, but still inside of the custom inner sleeve. That means I’ve received loads of torn up inner sleeves, and that’s a bummer. Will u mention generic paper inners if u make another vid like this ? Thanks
Good video!! Every Ebay seller should be forced to watch this one. I was a seller for many years. I've shipped to every country on this planet and never once had a damaged shipment. I also dealt with 78's. They're easy to ship if you know how. I've gotten records.. or rather boxes of pieces of 78's because the seller didn't have a clue how to package properly. I did the exact same thing you showed. CD's should be done the same way. It's rare to get a CD without a cracked case!
when I ship more than one record I bind the records together with Kraft paper in both directions then I tape this package to the stiffeners up to about 6 records. that's All I can fit most times in the box I use. When I sold my copy of pink Floyd pulse for $400.00 to some cat in Kasitstan I used a bigger box because I was taking no prisoners with this packaging job. I wrapped all the records together in their outer sleeves with saran wrap then I put the records back in the box wrapped that with saran wrap then bubble wrap. Styrofoam sheets, padded everything all sides because its not how you ship it how you package. As long is the record cannot move inside the box and the record is a couple of inches away from any surface of the outer box you should be safe. you just have to use what ever you can find. I get bubble wrap from work, if i see a box that will work for one of these large packing jobs i take it home if I need stiffeners we trash so many boxes that I just cut stiffeners from them. Only things I have to buy is boxes labels and tape
I only have two that I want to sell. Went to local pizza place and ask for two large clean unfolded boxes, i'll fold them inside out to ship. I offered to pay but they gave them for free. This video was helpful on how to package .
Ron,what I mean to say is, people are not happy with the postage price as on top of the purchase price. Some are posting records for $8 here. I really don't know how they do it for that. Thanks for the great vids you make. By the way I bought a turntable protractor, the one you mentioned in your video. Got that sorted. Thanks again.

This was great. Thanks for the education. Vinyl is new to me. So, following this technique, would you say it's all right to ship media, with the warning stickers?
I am only shipping a couple vinyl records that I sold on ebay so no need to spend on a large amount of shipping supplies. Do you know any stores that sell these items piece by piece? Boxes, etc.? I really just need 3 boxes and board inserts.
Good man, finally someone who packages records properly. I've had so much misery buying records online even from established record sellers but the saddest thing is when a very rare record is damaged simply because the seller didn't take any care. I tend to use the thicker polythene record sleeves now because the thinner ones often split or are not enough to stop the cover getting worn in the post. I'm not sure where you are living but the American post is bound to be much better than what we have in the UK. We do get USPS here and they are by far the best option when possible.
I couldn't agree with you more!! about all the poor shippers That's why I made the video to help folks who want to do a good job but are new to shipping records and also to show the others who do not take care what is at stake if they do not package properly. Thank you for your kind remarks, Cheers from South east Georgia, Ron
pleased to see you agree with the method of packaging and i firmly agree being a seller of vinyl on ebay.uk ''vinylwaves'' but i feel the need to defend the UK post service, i must stress royal mail have been a dream to work with in all aspects, there delivery times are nearly always accurate and care of the items is to me above satisfaction, however please avoid using the firm ''ukmail'' they smashed a beautiful Sony ps4750 turntable and were a absolute nightmare to deal with on the claim, i must of sent around 30 emails back and fourth with picture after picture, i got my claim settled in the end though, on the other hand however, i have had many horror stories about the US parcel service, ''yes there quick but the care is not there'' seems to be the usual saying echoed all over America, what has your experiences been with USPS Ron.B?
World Of War Yes Royal Mail are relatively good and probably much better than a lot of country's delivery services for example Italy that has an absolutely dire and limited worldwide service. I have sent thousands of things using them and it hardly ever goes missing but more often than not it is very roughly handled. It also depends where you live, when I lived in a certain location Royal Mail was really poor and I spent nearly all my free time sorting out broken items. When I have had to make a claim they have repeatedly tried to write me off with a cheap book of stamps and i've had to write about three letters to get compensation in the end. However I was very disappointed when Royal Mail were sold off as i'm generally supportive of them. USPS are expensive considering the lack of insurance but all parcels I have got through them have arrived looking pretty pristine, unharmed and as of yet none have gone missing. The worst service I have ever encountered is Yodel. Avoid at all costs, nearly everything they have handled looks like it has been through a war.
I used to ship world wide but Italy and Russia are to 2 worst for problems with non delivery I now only ship to Canada USA UK western Europe Australia Japan
World Of War well my experience with usps is very dependable like the Royal mail but remember you have to package well these industries use machines to sort mail at rapid rates
Thank you for the great info for shipping records. What if I have a record that is still sealed in the plastic, never opened? I dont want to open it to take out the record. any advice? Thanks
Hi Ron! Good advice here. What do you do if the inner sleeve has liner notes/lyrics etc instead of the typical white paper one? Do you take the vinyl out and put it in a spare white one? Do you recommend paper inner sleeves or antistatic plastic ones? Thanks!

So I'm in the process of moving my relatively small (150-200) LP collection from Milwaukee to San Francisco but it's still a little daunting. Do you have any tips for someone in my situation? Is there any safe way to mail a significant number of LPs per box?
are you moving there as well? if so take them with you don't mail them its going to be costly to mail 150 records let me know if only the records are moving
I am but I have to fly; so I wanted to ship some of my collection to have. I'll be driving with all my stuff in a years time. OK, now the far-fetched idea: I've downsized by 100 must have records, and was thinking about shipping 2 boxes of 25 records each. All LPs tightly bubble-wrapped together with cardboard and bubble wrap between each one, then the whole thing masking taped together, bubble wrapped and put on packing peanuts in boxes made for record shipments (got em from a local record shop)? All of my records are in those adhesive seal-able laminate sleeves (blake sleeves). What's your opinion? Also, thank you for the reply (sorry for lots of questions haha)
ok in my video" New reissues, compared some are better some are not". at the end of the video I show how elusive disc shipped my record order, double boxed, media mail with a tracking #. That is how I would recommend you do it as well. Please let me know what you think of this idea
Ron Beaudry Great call, that's pretty much the route I ended up taking! I had a lot of boxes so in addition to bubble wrap, I boxed them, then boxed them again (they kind of suggested this to me at the record shop). Shipped last night, I'll let you know how they arrive. Thanks for all the help,
sound like you did a great job I am confident your records well arrive safe and sound. All it takes is care in shipping to find a proper way to do things.
Hey Ron, I have about 1200 lp's and I'm ready to start selling them. I have some that I got from Columbia House, and BMG. Are they worth less, some are still sealed. Dave
the black box you're using---where do you get them from? I would love to use them to ship my records instead of the standard lp mailer. Also what method are you using for shipping--first class or other? Just wonder how much it would cost me to ship in the USA for all of that. I like your method.
Thank you, I was about start merchanting old records; I probably would've had loads of refunds and bad reviews if I hadn't seen this video. Just one question, how do you take care of and/or repair the covers.
michael s I HAVE MADE ANOTHER VIDEO ON HOW TO PACKAGE LP RECORDS USING NEW BOXES be sure to view that Video as well good luck and thanks for watching here is a link to the new video How to package and ship LP Records #2 new boxes, how to ship safely
michael s you take care of the covers by keeping them in outer sleeves and if the covers start coming apart i just glue them back together. if you have anything specific i will need more info. thanks for watching so glad you enjoyed the video
Hey there! Haven’t gone into selling vinyl yet, but want to start soon. Might be a silly question, but do you buy those stiffeners, or just cut it out yourself from cardboard boxes. Also what is the best site to get the vinyl shipping boxes?
Do you think it would be okay to pack the records exactly like you did but without the outer box? I don't live in America so I can't get hold of those boxes for cheap. Thank you
Well you don't need the exact box but you must be able to find some sort of box then improvise to make that box work using the principles described in the video because you need an outside box you will not believe the abuse these boxes take on their journey
Ron Beaudry I have also seen where you take 2 pieces of the thick 2 ply cardboard about 14x14 or 15x15 bind the record / records with paper tightly on all sides. then tape this package to the center of the cardboard then tape the 2 halves together no box needed and it works great.
I have around 500 records to sell and I got some cardboard from a store that just throws it out which I will use for stiffeners. I found a place online that sells 50 13x13 pizza boxes for around £14 but I think I will try your method in the comments which doesn't require boxes. Thanks for the help
In Case you didn't listen to the whole video when you sell records on eBay they are guaranteed to be delivered in the condition you advertise your responsible and if you mess up eBay takes the money out of your Paypal account
sorry this was the first ever video i made for you tube i really should take it down. i have made a new video please watch. thanks for watching and your feedback here is the link ruclips.net/video/3ZS0lqMHCc0/видео.html
Its not how you ship, be it express or priority mail, its how you package the lp that will, in the end, make the difference. So if you package the lp well, you can ship records media mail, the only distinction being it takes longer and is a lot cheaper. The stickers are not a difference maker with or with out makes no difference but I think for the small investment it my provide a little more protection. Ron
Excellent guide, thank you! I'm about to ship my first album and it's very rare so I'll mimic this approach to packing.
I'd recommend using blue tape for stuff like this instead of masking tape. The adhesive is a lot more conducive to removal without being a problem.

Thank you for your kind remarks,
Cheers from South east Georgia, Ron
pleased to see you agree with the method of packaging and i firmly agree being a seller of vinyl on ebay.uk ''vinylwaves'' but i feel the need to defend the UK post service, i must stress royal mail have been a dream to work with in all aspects, there delivery times are nearly always accurate and care of the items is to me above satisfaction, however please avoid using the firm ''ukmail'' they smashed a beautiful Sony ps4750 turntable and were a absolute nightmare to deal with on the claim, i must of sent around 30 emails back and fourth with picture after picture, i got my claim settled in the end though, on the other hand however, i have had many horror stories about the US parcel service, ''yes there quick but the care is not there'' seems to be the usual saying echoed all over America,
what has your experiences been with USPS Ron.B?
What size box is that and do you have a link from where to order that size?
Thank you for the great info for shipping records. What if I have a record that is still sealed in the plastic, never opened? I dont want to open it to take out the record. any advice? Thanks
Ron Guerrero it must be wrapped tightly with paper or small bubble wrap and be very secure in the package no movement
Hi Ron! Good advice here. What do you do if the inner sleeve has liner notes/lyrics etc instead of the typical white paper one? Do you take the vinyl out and put it in a spare white one? Do you recommend paper inner sleeves or antistatic plastic ones? Thanks!
I would like to buy some of these materials. Can you tell me where I can get the plastic sleeves and the black boxes?
Good tip about the seam split
Where can I order those shipping boxes directly from? Excellent Video!
Wish everybody packed like this..
Great fat sound of rat bat blue!
Please let me know your favorite cartridge.
Incidentally, I'm using Shure M44-7.

Ron Beaudry Hi. Thanks for your reply. Now I'm proud of being Japanese :) And I also have "who do we think" of P-8312W version, but I cannot feel powerful sound from my system... Incidentally, Shelter's office is in a place that is 30 minutes away from my house by car. I like your style. Thanks again!

So I'm in the process of moving my relatively small (150-200) LP collection from Milwaukee to San Francisco but it's still a little daunting. Do you have any tips for someone in my situation? Is there any safe way to mail a significant number of LPs per box?
are you moving there as well? if so take them with you don't mail them
its going to be costly to mail 150 records let me know if only the records are moving
I am but I have to fly; so I wanted to ship some of my collection to have. I'll be driving with all my stuff in a years time. OK, now the far-fetched idea:
I've downsized by 100 must have records, and was thinking about shipping 2 boxes of 25 records each.
Anglynn74 watch this first this should answer your questions

Thank you for the tips :)
Any suggestions on shipping a box set of records. Say 4-8 Records. Would you do this the same way?
We make a mailer that can hold up to 20 LPs. That would probably work! www.bagsunlimited.com/category/286/lp-mailers
Where do you get the 13x13x2 boxes ?
Could you leave a link to order the same boxes that you get ?
Follow the link to the new video
Great video!
Don't forget to watch my updated video using new boxes it's a lot better shipping method the link is in the video you watched
How much do you charge (domestically) for shipping an LP this way?
Intro rocks
Good video, cheers.
eliteyoutubification thank you very much glad you enjoyed the video

You are the legend
Damn, you are the man!
Ron Beaudry sorry here is the link ruclips.net/video/3ZS0lqMHCc0/видео.html
Excellent
Where can i get layout for a box on this video ?
How would I find your listings on ebay?
rockenroni
Hey there! Haven’t gone into selling vinyl yet, but want to start soon. Might be a silly question, but do you buy those stiffeners, or just cut it out yourself from cardboard boxes. Also what is the best site to get the vinyl shipping boxes?
I have another video where talk about that and a better shipping method you can find the link in this video
Ron Beaudry Do you think another layer of cardboard would be fine with some bubble wrap or should I just buy some pizza boxes?
how do you get your cardboard? from boxes?
how many records are you shipping?
Ron Beaudry I have also seen where you take 2 pieces of the thick 2 ply cardboard about 14x14 or 15x15 bind the record / records with paper tightly on all sides. then tape this package to the center of the cardboard then tape the 2 halves together no box needed and it works great.
I have around 500 records to sell and I got some cardboard from a store that just throws it out which I will use for stiffeners. I found a place online that sells 50 13x13 pizza boxes for around £14 but I think I will try your method in the comments which doesn't require boxes. Thanks for the help
Thanks Bubbles!
you are welcome
hello sir where can i get some cardboard stiffners?
It would seem the box it came in should be secure enough. Not everything is guaranteed I suppose.
In Case you didn't listen to the whole video when you sell records on eBay they are guaranteed to be delivered in the condition you advertise your responsible and if you mess up eBay takes the money out of your Paypal account
sorry this was the first ever video i made for you tube i really should take it down.
i have made a new video please watch.
thanks for watching and your feedback here is the link

Its not how you ship, be it express or priority mail, its how you package the lp that will, in the end, make the difference. So if you package the lp well, you can ship records media mail, the only distinction being it takes longer and is a lot cheaper.
The stickers are not a difference maker with or with out makes no difference but I think for the small investment it my provide a little more protection. Ron
It's unfortunate that boxes aren't typically in the dimension 13" by 13"
What is that band that you are playing at the start?
+spaceage73 Deep Purple from the album Who do we think we are, Rat Bat Blue
How much does it cost to send a record this way by post? Here in Australia it costs $14.00.
well I can ship a record in the USA for 3.99 cost of the box included but to ship a record to Australia from the USA cost $15.99 just for postage
thank you!
