    Thank you for this Janie. I’ve had my eye on this cutter for a while and I took the plunge with it with your review and demo being the reinforcement of my decision. Thank you for running through all of the spec on this, it’s such a good functional design. I have a smaller fiskars which I love but needed something for thicker card stock without the expense of blades etc. This is perfect. Thank you again. Your natural friendly style is a joy to watch. Greetings from Scotland. x

    I've had this for over 2 years and love it. The price is great - easily pays for itself as I don't have to replace the blade every few days as I had to with the other cutters. I cut lots of varieties of papers almost daily. There are three things that affect my cutting but they are not deal-breakers. 1. The center fold, as you mentioned - for things between 5.5" and 6" I simply measure and mark before cutting. 2. Past the 6" measurement, I have to add 1/16" to the cut because the the measurements are that much off when I get past the fold. 3. When cutting free-form instead of measuring, make sure the paper is lined up with the metal next to the blade or the cut will be off-set. I wish I would have seen this video earlier so I could have seen you experiment with the cardboard. I tried cutting 2mm chipboard - it cut 1" and jumped the track and jammed. I had to take it apart to remove the chipboard and set the cutting blade correctly. Now it makes noise and pulls hard. Thanks for showing this video. I'm getting another one of these and will go back to cutting the thick chipboard with a knife.

      I love mine and am happy to hear you love yours too. That 1/16" info is good to know!!! Thank you. I did notice cuts a little off and thought it was me. I will remember that from now on.....or at least double check to see if it's me or the cutter. Thank you for sharing that 😊 Hugs....Janie

    Wow, I am convinced! The most surprising one to me was the tissue paper. I thought for sure it would mangle it. This is a very impressive trimmer! I am adding it to my wish list. Thank you for the great review!

      You are so welcome! I think in a video one time I might have cut a napkin with it.....but I honestly don't remember. I know that it has cut everything I've ever needed to cut. I should have shown that it cuts faux leather but didn't think about that until right now! Bummer, that would have been a good one to share. But this is definitely worth every penny and works just as good today as it did when I got it years ago (at least 5 years ago), and I have definitely worked it hard with things like cardboard. Just add it to your wish list 😊 Hugs....Janie

    I love mine, but I do agree that area that folds is a bit of an issue, but I just work around it. It certainly is not enough of an issue that I would toss it and buy a newer model. I used a variety of materials and it cuts wonderfully.A early Happy Birthday to you!

I wouldn't trade mine for a newer model either....and have not yet seen anything better than this....not even the new Tim Holtz / Tonic Studios Rotary Media Trimmer 😊 Thanks for sharing your experience with the Fiskars trimmer 😊💗🤗 Hugs....Janie

      Thanks so much! 😊 You're so sweet. I probably should have done a review on this years ago, but after watching Jennifer McGuire's review on the new Tim Holtz trimmer, I was shocked that she said it was a dream come true that she had been waiting for, when Fiskars has had this out for years and it's better than the Tim Holtz one (and I love Tim Holtz). So I thought I should share this. LOL and like you, I have more than one Fiskars.....and my scissors are Fiskars....and I love them all 😊 Hugs....Janie

      @@janiethecraftprincess You're welcome! Great video. I subbed :) If you ever get a chance to do a side-by-side, that would be great! Especially comparing cutting papers by the design instead of by measurement. I think the TH one would be hard to cut the design (or photos out of a contact sheet for example) because of the arm placement.

    • @janiethecraftprincess
      @janiethecraftprincess  Год назад +2

      @@racena2034 Not possible for me to do a side by side comparison because I don't own the Tim Holtz trimmer and have no desire to spend $100 to get one when I already have the Fiskars. But you can watch Jennifer McGuire demo it here ruclips.net/video/isPS085TNIo/видео.html I meant to put that link in my description box, so I just now added it. There may be other people doing demos and reviews, but I saw Jennifer's which is why I did this demo and review. I'm sure the TH one can pretty much cut what the Fiskars can, but the fiskars has the platform instead of arms, and has a dual rail system instead of a one rail system. Just better features even though they are similar. I just think you get better features for the money with the Fiskars. Watch Jennifer's video to see the TH one. And thank you so much for subscribing!!! I truly appreciate it 😊 Hugs....Janie

      Thanks for watching 😊 They are a little pricey but worth every penny. I made this review because Tim Holtz / Tonic Studios just came out with a new one, Rotary Media Trimmer, that does not have some of the better features that this one does, so I thought I should review my Fiskars even though it's several years old. Just bought this trimmer.. I was trying to cut 110lb cardstock and it kept jamming on the paper. Seems that there was something wrong with the mechanism inside the housing of the cutting blade. I needed to make 4 card and by the time I was finished. I had injured my wrist. I did having to return it. I have always used a rotary trimmer and they do give a nice crisp cut. I am very disappointed😭 and now, don't know what trimmer to buy..

    • @janiethecraftprincess
      @janiethecraftprincess  4 месяца назад +1

      I'm sorry to hear you are having problems cutting 110 lb cardstock.....I cut that all the time and in all the years I have had mine I have never had that problem. I wish I had an answer for you. I have cut much thicker things with my Fiskars ProCisision Rotary Bypass Trimmer with no problems (as you can see in my video), and have had mine for well over 5 years. Did you contact the company? They might have replaced it for you. It sounds like you must have a defective one. I know other people that love theirs as much as I do. I'm really sorry to hear of your disappointment. I would have called the company, or at least returned it to where you bought it and got a replacement. I can't recommend another because this is the only one I have used and love it. You said you have always used rotary trimmers that give a nice crisp cut, so maybe you should stick with one of the brands you are already happy with. But my personal opinion......this is the best, as you have seen in my video, and if I were you I would have called the company or returned for a replacement so you can see that you just had a defective one a and get another one that is not defective. Good luck with whatever you decided to do 😊

    Unfortunately, I make journals and notebooks. I was very disappointed to find out that almost all of their cutters have a fold somewhere. It cuts wonderful but I had to take it back due to me not being able to measure a book properly.

    • @janiethecraftprincess
      @janiethecraftprincess  11 месяцев назад

      So sorry to hear that. I do understand that the fold is between the 5 1/2 and 6, and could be inconvenient if you need something precise between those two numbers. Luckily it has never been a problem for me. I make cards that are usually 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, and I also make mini albums and journals. If for any reason I need something precise that is between those two numbers, I just use my old paper trimmer that I really don't like. I love this one because it can pretty much cut through anything and I don't have to replace the blade. But I'm glad you found what works for you 😊

    Hello! I have the same one too but I was wondering if it is possible to replace the blades? :) mine is jagged now its not as sharp as it was

    • @janiethecraftprincess
      @janiethecraftprincess  8 месяцев назад

      That is very unusual considering it is a self-sharpening blade that never needs replacing.. I can't even imagine how the blade became jagged. You should slide the blade back and forth several times without any paper and see if it helps. At the making of that video ( 1 year ago), I had my Fiskars ProCision Rotary Bypass trimmer for over 5 years and used it almost daily, and am still using it. You saw the variety of things I cut with my trimmer.....craft plastic (like plexi glass), cardboard, magnetic sheets, and then delicate things like vellum and tissue paper.....and it cut them all beautifully after having used the trimmer for over 5 years. My point, is after all I have put it through it still cut all of those things beautifully. So I'm truly not sure how your blade could have possibly become jagged. You might want to contact the company and ask them. I'm not associated with that company in any way. Sorry I don't have any other information for you.
