I always liked the slower more deliberate exits from hyperspace we saw in the show. But an Omega rushing out of a jump point like this? It just screams "Your ass belongs to me now!" ....Unless of course there's something like a Sharlin waiting for it.
WB should redo all the CGI. I have been saying this for years. They can share this show with a whole new generation. Please redo the Severed Dreams battle scene!
Whilst the official B5 flight sim was cancelled, there was a fan-made flight sim called "Babylon 5 I've Found Her". The graphics weren't up to Digital Era's standard, but it was still good just to be able to fly a starfury :)
@@nekomatafuyu The cancelled game actually produced a load of marketing stuff (watches, mousemats etc) and they just gave them away after the cancellation. I got a couple of bits at the time. They must have been so close to release to have spent money on marketing.

DuUude!? This is amazing! The hard jump in of that Omega gave me the giggles! Nice to see it animated in this fashion (I'd recognize that beast anywhere). The Aurora flipping round to take out the enemy was awesome. "Main" guns firing... fantastic. I'm in a pool of warm geek juice right now! I need to take a shower. Well bloody done man!

Good job! I would just get rid of the RBG distortion in the wormhole. It doesn't make sense to put what is a exclusive effect of CRT monitors, with it's red and blue out of phase ghosts, in space. It's like putting there a "green screen phosphorous" effect just because. They all look cool, mind you, but only in simulating a transmission or retro monitor, not in an "being actually there" scene, like this one.

I was looking for dispersion the full spectrum, not only blue and red. Glorious, lovely, well animated - superb! Textures and light look amazing! My only nitpick the Starfury overspin flair might have been too much in ongoing combat (maybe a voice overlay of "Stop showing off, we're not done yet!" would fit here?
This is simply amazing. It saddens me we never saw the omega class in action in the shadow war, and you portray the might and power that I always imagined in the ship in a few seconds of footage. Absolutely brilliant.

People, maybe you can somehow arrange a gathering on the same kickstarter so that the team of 3D animators who would like to do this could remake all the space battles in Babylon 5 in a modern way? And then remount the series? How much does this work cost?
Re making all the CGI it's a lot of works, and the composite sequence (actors + CGI) can't be done in a proper way. I don't have the exact number, but It can be done this way like this video. good work and technically amazing, but for my liking way way to far zoomed in I would have prefered a more zoomed out look to get a better idea of the scale of the engagement.
Oh man, the weapon fire spewing forth from the Alexander looked great. The only thing I'd complain about is the particle spray for the damage fx looking a bit cartoony. Great stuff though, keep it up! We want more!
If I have a criticism, the animation needs more work. Everything in the original B5 CGI feels like it has a lot more mass - you can always observe acceleration / deceleration (including in projectiles), even angular acceleration. The way the Omega destroyer jumped in was also too quick.

I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking it. WHERE'S THE REST OF IT, DAMNIT! :) If there was a series that could wholly benefit from RE-MASTER...Babylon 5 would be worthy. We know that the focus was on the people at the center of events but some of those event's depiction were limited due to the means of the era (still nothing to sneer at even by modern standards)...but say the Battle of Coriana 6 for starters. If eyes could drool...

While understandably a limit for some rendering reasons, lowering the size of the ember/spark particles so they look like a finder cloud of sparks, rather than like a fire hydrant spraying out baseball or basketball sized globules of glowy stuff would be a good method to help increase the sense of scale of the larger ships, and toning down the glare and size in general, adding more variation on their spawn sizes and lifetimes would also help them seem more naturual as chaotic stuff rather than a controlled consistent spray of stuff as it kind of came of as now. As it is it draws more attention than the engines, weapons fire, and even actual damaged and on fire sections of the hull itself I feel.
@@DigitalEraStudios I think Terricon4 makes a great point there - and maybe a secondary emitter for some debris/smoke/vapor expanding off the starfury when it get's hit. Something feels to 'clean' about it. But sheesus your doing great work - I just subscribed so I can follow your journey here. Some of the best Sci-fi ever made and it deserves some love like this. It's always puzzled me that there haven't been more fan made High Quality shorts like this - considering B5 was rendered on Amigas and Video Toasters - you'd think there would be a ton of old school animators out there w/ some love for it. Are you doing as learning projects or do you have an end goal in mind? Would be cool to see each seasons credits redone.

Well, B5 was my first approached in CGI when I was a kid, always love the details in those sequences. They were unique. I grow up trying to figure out how they were done. I love make B5 content, is where it all this CGI love started to me.
I remember watching this on Vimeo many times! The only thing that puzzled me...can those forward cannons fire both pulse weapons and lasers? I thought they`re one-trick pony, but that`s not critical at all, looks astonishing anyway

Having recently worked my way through the entire series with a brilliantly executed deep story arc (That a lot of folks in today's overly-woke Hollywood should take note of) and certainly would have been much improved with your CGI!
There were a LOT of firsts in Babylon 5...like bathrooms on a spacestation, including bathrooms for non-humans ("I'd stay away from the blue doors, if I were you; they're for methane-breathers only!").

Emi, it's more than just your obvious skill in fine detail, but your lighting affects and the way the shot moves feels so dynamic. It feels like a natural update to what Babylon 5 tried to do 20 years ago without just feeling like some perfunctory update.
