I don’t know if we are having erosion problems or if our well pump is leaking to the house - but I noticed water bubbling out of the ground during a heavy rain
I ended up finding several holes in the yard (from moles or something) and their tunnels must have flooded
I took a huge bush that was overgrown near the AC ~ and transfered it into the mole hole with rock and soil
And that was my waste of a day neglecting to deal with the rain gutters 🙃
But maybe the ground will get better if I continue to use rock and fill holes 🤷🏽‍♂️

So how does this work in the winter months? Sun hitting on the rain gutters will melt the ice and snow inside of it and the water will run down and most likely freeze. Wouldn’t you want a longer run?

I’m in NY state and have had no issues with systems like this. I have all my drains buried and only 2-4 inches of soil over them. They never block up. Most go to daylight but one uses a popup emitter like this without issue.
Think about your gutters-in reality they have no insulation at all (not even 2-4” of dirt).

No catch basin under the downspout so you can flush debris out of the line?

Why would I need a catch basin to clean out the drain? Especially under the downspout.. it would splash water out everywhere?

If only my soil was like that, sandy, soft, not clay, hard as a rock with boulders in it.

      That’s good though in a sense…
If your soil was very soft, then you have to worry about your drain shifting often
You might have better grading around your house than most - or in your area/climate and if you’re higher in elevation

When Chuck digs, he never hits a rock, all I do is hit rocks. I have to hire someone for any trenching, with a mini excavator.

I know this is not ideal, but I have some 10-ft pieces of perforated pipe in my garage. Do you think if I covered the holes with a very strong tape such as gorilla tape, I could use it as a solid pipe for this application?

      Hi Sean
Would be better to use solid pipe

@@appledrains I know. I just wanted you to give me permission to do it. 😂

I would definitely watch a video on that 😂🙌🏽
Great question though, just in case

You’ll spend more on gorilla tape than new pipe.
