Parents warn of fentanyl danger from fake pills after Rocklin teen’s heartbreaking death

- Zachary Didier, 17, was a straight “A” student with what seemed like a limitless future. He was a standout athlete in soccer and track, and a talented self-taught musician. The Whitney High School senior was set to graduate in June with honors and had his sights on Stanford or UCLA. On Dec. 27, during winter break, Zach’s dad found him slumped over his desk with his head resting in his arm. He wasn’t breathing and CPR had no effect. What was first an inexplicable tragedy has since become a cautionary tale. Zach was a victim of fentanyl poisoning.

I will never judge another addict or person ever again. I was inches from death. Its easy to judge when you havent been barely breathing, tube down my throat, heart monitor, IVs, multiple doctors, shame, pain. But Im here thankfully and I wont touch anything ever again

Zach clearly had inclinations towards the arts, his piano and guitar playing are fantastic. Oozing natural ability and playing with so much emotion. Don't buy pills period. Why are teens buying pills. I guess they are seeing if they can get high. It's ridiculous. When I was in high school many many years ago I turned down every pill I was offered. I said what do I want a pill for.

What a great loss for this family! What a great loss for society! I am so sorry for his parents' tremendous loss.
I am so sorry for your pain and grief from Zach's passing. Accidental overdoses from Fentanyl tainted drugs have taken the lives of so many young people. It is literally an epidemic in the Vancouver area where I am from. In fact, my youngest brother died the same way 5 years ago today. My condolences to you and your family. Thank you for sharing your story so other parents are aware because Snapchat has been implicated in similar cases.
This is all because the restrictions in opioids are so strict that individuals aren’t able to get what they want or the price is just astronomical. And these counterfeit pills are everywhere now. Especially with loose border security. The restrictions in opioids have only made drug overdoses much much worse. So sad that Zach is a victim of the crossfire In this matter. I'm so very sorry. My prayers are with you. There is no greater pain than losing a child, it is almost unbearable. I know bc my son just died the same way. He was my life and my only child. Relatively the same thing happened to him that happened to this beautiful young man. He had just graduated college. He was ready for life with a brand new job. He lived in a college town and went to the bar located down the street to party with his friends one last time. And it was.
It is awful out there, these young people just don't realize how dangerous it is now. So I pray everyday for them.

I remember experimenting with Darvon way back when I was in my teens. I fell asleep on the couch and when I woke up I remember feeling almost like my heart was going to stop. I am 66 now. I don't think it had fentanyl in it though.

My beautiful son went to heaven in October 2021. He fought for years and the battle was too great. He was so beautiful and so is the little boy he left to us. My wife and I were blessed with 3 boys . Stacey was our first and the beautiful boy he left us with is our first grandchild. He looks just like his dad and when I look in his eyes I see my son. I love you Stacey and I will see you in heaven, until then I will be loving your son the way I love you son.
Heartbreaking. The only thing I don’t like about these documentaries is that it’s always labeled accidental. Some of of these kids know very well that these drugs are coming laced and some of them knowingly take them. As long has we keep labeling all the deaths as poisoned the problem won’t stop.
When I was a kid I also experimented with drugs too. When you're young you don't think about the long term consequences. Don't judge people by their mistakes. Whether it's their first time or 100th they still didn't deserve to die. These people were in no doubt poisoned. These lethal drugs are intentionally being pushed to the most vulerable with intent to kill.

Message: Teach your children not to take medication that you don’t get from the pharmacy yourself and know what the medication is that your taking. Poor family.
Very sorry to hear this. These parents story should be heard by every parent in the World. This can happen to anyone very easily. It's a different world now and a far more dangerous one.
My 17year old son died of cancer 7years ago I still miss him daily, but this a sad story. I take this painkiller daily myself I am 50 years old

Can't protect kids. Tell them not to do drugs, don't smoke, don't drink too much, don't drive too fast, don't play with guns, blah. blah blah, they gonna do what they want and/or what their friends influence them to do. It's a fact of life that many kids won't survive. You're just playing the odds.

This is so sad.This is such a good reminder to watch over your loved ones...especially because he just reminds me of my brother that is his age...loved to play soccer all through out highschool, run track, was in the musical for 6 years, used to be in band and is an eagle scout. My mom tried to give him piano lessons when he was younger but that never worked....anyway, tell your folks you love them before it's too late.
It will probably result in a divorce for these two too. How can they go on?
I’m glad that they shared their story so other parents like us can see and learn I had no idea that kids could get drugs off Snapchat I had no idea how easy it is to get them for a teenager. And I think them because now I will be having a long conversation with my teenagers in hopes that they will not follow the same faith that Zach has followed.

I’m so sorry for your loss! Your son was such a talented young man, my 22 year old nephew died in December 2022 the same way. We need justice for our kids, we need to get together and petition! Whoever manufactures and sells fentanyl deserves the death penalty or at least life in prison because this is only going to get worse!

As a 30yo, it really surprises me how bad the drug problem is. We need to rewrite our textbook. We always show a nasty environment and people who look like thugs selling drugs. That is absolutely not what it looks like in modern day. The drugs I see come from people that I would never believe they could have any bad habits. The top students who dress nicely with a great charisma. I just can't believe what I saw when they boys and girls one by one trying out the drugs.

Parents need to start letting their children know you couldn't be mad at them for using drugs. You start by hiding it until people start to notice signs of drug use. In that time frame then your likely hooked. If we could get our kids not being scared to tell family that need help.

I am so sorry for your loss. It's normal that teens and young adults experiment... drugs are not new.. they have been around for thousands of years. What is new is the over reaching crackdown on prescription drugs. They are withheld from patients so now patients in need and people who want to experiment are seeking out what they can get... sadly its unregulated poisonous fentanyl.... this doesn't need to be happening.
its sad because for me there was a chance to learn my lesson, i took counterfit xanax pills for 2.5 years and had terrible experiences but luckily didn't get a fentanly pill

We still don't know how Snapchat facilitates access to Prescription drugs, since you need a prescription from a doctor to obtain them.
Why was Zach trying to access medication to start with? Legitimate medical reasons?
So many unanswered questions but someone must know.
Percocet is just a brand of Oxycodone Paracetamol (why was this not explained in the video).
But Oxycodone is illegal without a Prescription from a Doctor, so it's impossible to obtain.
It's twice as potent as Morpheine, which is also illegal without a script.
Why would a teenage boy want these medications?
Did he have a prescription for Percocet and the doctor gave him Fentanyl by mistake?
