When my mother was still here and young in the early 60s, a friend of her and mom wrote a book, "Trash to Treasurers." My mother was making crafts and recycling when it wasn't the popular thing to do. Her friend, who has also passed did the illustrations and writing and mom did all the ideas and finished items for her friend to draw for the book. They made some money from it. Not filthy rich, but they did pretty good. When the book came out, they had to fight with some people trying to use mom and her friend's title on their books. Mom's friend and her won. Mom didn't want money. She just wanted them to stop using their title because it was interfering with their profits. Once it was settled, mom and friend did finally start making a little more money. They are both gone now and somewhere in all my lifetime of totes I have a copy of that book. I was probably about 12 or 13 when they wrote that book so some of the details are blurry. I did however babysit her friend's two sons and my little sister so they could finish the book. My mother was very much like you. She could take absolutely nothing and turn it into something wonderful. Give that woman a bleach jug and it became an Easter Basket when people didn't do such things and a very cute basket at that. She made Christmas tree ornaments out of bits of this and that and made quite a bit of money. She did the Sunday morning craft every week with the kids at Sunday school at the church. She couldn't draw a stick figure but give her things and she would make the most wonderful pieces. You would have had fun with her Patti. I did. I miss her. Thanks for sharing as always. You are remarkable.
*@Kathy, I love💕 your story about your mother!*
@@zeepickens9049 Thank you. She was sure a special lady.
@@kathybrigger9431 *you're welcome--* 👑
Thank you so much Kathy, what a beautiful story. I bet she was incredible. That is so awesome that your mom and her friend wrote a book. I crafted with my grandmother from age 5 and she taught me alot about making things from items we had on hand. We spent lots of time together crafting. Great memories. Thank you so much for sharing your story. Have a blessed week.
Thank you for sharing her story! I loved doing those types of things with my mom. I remember watching her take pheasant feathers and making a ladies hat.
Again you amaze me. I love that Tin man. Can’t wait to make him. I know my granddaughter will fall in love with him. Thank you !
Thank you so much. It would be a great granddaughter craft together.
I love the tin man. He's so cute. The wishing well is cute also. Great ideas. Thank you for showing us.
Thank you so much 🤗
Both are cute but the tin man is my favorite. Makes me smile at the cute face. Have a Blessed day.
Thank you Linda. You have a blessed day also.
Patti. Your last little message at the end of this video felt like a message from God if you believe in such things. I was talking to my son who has had so much heartache recently hospitalised 5 times last year and one this, then other dreadful events. I said to him I feel as if God is telling us well here comes another blow to deal with. Put the phone down and heard your message. Sometimes we don’t realise how much our words can mean to others. So thank you 💕. Needed that today.
Thank you so much for this comment. I am a believer, and could not live my life without God in it. During hard times, I just turn all my troubles over to him and pray very often. I am sorry that your son is going through hardtimes right now. I will pray for him, and I will pray for strength for you my friend.
@@PattiJGood thanks Patti 🙏
That tin man is wonderful. He couldn’t be any cuter. He can stand there and give the birds somewhere to roost for short periods.
Thank you. I did see a bird on him yesterday LOL.
The tin man is adorable but I also like the little well. So talented. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
Thank you so much 🙂😊🙂
Love your "Tin Man"! Recycling is a good thing.
Thank you so much 🙂
That tin man is so cute!
I've made several of these a few years ago, and I have to paint it every 3 years or so and recolor his heart, because out in the weather it rust some. But I absolutely love it. Now I've got something else in mind to make, which will be just as easy. I love the tin man.
Thank you so much. I probably should go ahead and paint mine so it does not rust. I didn't think about that.
Absolutely 💯 love ❤️ that wishing well. To darling.
Thank you! 🤗
Both of these are really cute! My favorite is the wishing well planter.

Thank You Sharon😊
Metal coffee cans no longer exist, so I've saved a few old ones. Now I'm looking for projects. When I was a kid, coffee cans were receptacles for marbles, pennies, plants, popsicle sticks, etc.
If you have one of those crank can openers that makes smooth edges when you open the can, a good one to save is tuna cans. The lids fit back on them after they are open and they can be decorated. I use them in my art space for all sorts of small items that would otherwise be in one big mess in a box. They are great for projects with kids too. I bleach them to make sure the tuna smell is out of them.
@@kathybrigger9431 Thanks.
@@zyxw2000 You are most welcome.
I use one of those can openers. Works great. You can use the cans without worrying about cutting yourself. Great invention.
Both are so cute Patti! Thank you❤❤

✍Hello...Back in the 50s and going to summer Bible School we made a wishing well planter using a Maxwell House coffee can (MWH Coffee made a tin of coffee half the size of the can you're using) We covered the tin with rough twine then varnished it. The roof was made with 2 pieces of thin wood glued together in a peak and wrapped with covered with the same twine and varnished and then we added a small house plant. Yours is really pretty. Good Night😴 God Bless. Bye from NE Ohio
Thank you so much. I love these stories. Summer Bible School was a lot of fun when I was younger. We did a ton of arts and crafts. I always looked forward to going. Have a blessed week.

So so talented. I don't know how you come up with these ideas. Love love the tin mam.
Thanks so much 😊
PS...forgot to mention we used popsicle sticks mounted to the tin to hold the roof...now that I think about it we used cardboard instead of wood but still wrapped with the twine and varnished. Thank You for a nice video

Hello Pattie , sos so cute. The Tin man , would be a cute idea for christmas except it would be cute as a toy soldier. Or maybe A gnome of some sort.was wondering if you came up with any father's day gift ideas , like a ballcap filled with candy or make a little b8gger to maybe place cookies in because men love their sweets ( candy and cookies I mean) 😂😂😂have a great memorial day weekend.❤🤍💙🇺🇸 Stay safe❤hugs from Ephrata 🤗
Thanks Roberta. I am working on some Father's Day ideas right now. I'll have to look at the hat one. Thanks for the idea. Have a wonderful holiday weekend. Hugs from Texas.

Patty what is that little device called that you are using on your E-6000 glue tube?
Thank you Sheila. It is a toothpaste squeezer. I bought it on Amazon. Works great with the glue. amzn.to/3UL7c4w
