Very helpful tutorial. The silver part of the paintbrush is called the ferrule. I learned that many years ago. I love painting with you! Thanks. ❤️
I have to say as a beginner I would not buy cheap brushes because if they do a terrible job I’m going to think it me and not the brush, luckily I’ve been using acrylics for some time now.
Yes exactly! It is like why would you make a hard thing harder by using bad brushes? 😀
I totally agree with that ad well.
I wish I had gotten this advice when I first started lol Beginners listen up! I bought my first acrylics and brushes from Walmart and they worked but not amazingly. I have 3 from that pack that I pull out (an angle , a 1" flat, and a small round). The rest are not great. I've bought a variety of artificial hog bristle, and other synthetics from brush guys, Michaels and Blick and have a few favorites. My first real investment brush was a Princeton with the black handle and blue #4 filbert and wow it made SO much difference. Now when I have a bit of spare money for my hobby, I invest in a new quality brush or two. In addition to so many millions of tubes of paint lol
It is amazing how much difference a good brush makes! 😀 Glad you enjoyed the video.

I just watched this and found it VERY helpful! Thank you!❤
Yay so glad to hear that!
So incredibly informative! Thank you so much!
Thanks so much!!
Lots of great info.
Thank you very helpful❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
I literally just bought that exact pack of brushes earlier today...dang.
Oh no! Well you can always return them..
Thank you so much for sharing! ❤
You are too good
Awesome, madam.☺️
Wow❤
What size Summit filbert did you use to blend please? What size Summit would you recommend to start with?
I used the #4 I think. It is a good basic size. Or the #6 for larger areas. I use both sizes a lot.
I have seen so many paintings of yours but missed the journey from starting..Do you give any fundamental courses for kids aged 7 year
Yes I have several. My beginner basics videos are good to watch and learn but I also have a playlist of my kid-friendy videos.

When it's a money situation, cheap brushes can be the difference between painting or not painting at all.
How long does it take for a beginning painter to discover what style, and choice of subject they are going to prefer?
You can start by going onto Pinterest and creating a board with all of the art you like. After a while you should see some common elements in those artworks. Sometimes it will be colors, subject, brushwork, etc. Then try making some art within those themes and see how it feels. I'd say within a year or two of creating regularly you should be figuring out what you like and what matches your natural style of painting.
Wow, love the demos and comparisons.
Thank you so much for this paint brush tutorial! It was incredibly helpful. I bought a set of black Royal & Langnickel synthetic long handle brushes awhile back and the first time I got them out to use, two of the flat brush handles dislodged from their ferrules. I used Gorilla wood glue to put them back together instead of sending them back. Do you think that type of glue is okay to use? And I just wanted to add that I used the Princeton Umbria dagger striper on the jellyfish painting I did of yours (per your instruction) and it was really fun to use! I loved seeing in the video the different ways I can use this brush! ❤
Yes gorilla glue or even hot glue will be fine to use to glue your brush. I just wouldn't let them sit in water much.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
@@thankfulart Great! Thank you so much. I definitely won’t let them sit in water. Learned my lesson on that one before! Lol
I’m not sure where you got your information on hog brushes not being good for acrylic paint?, but there are many many acrylic artist that use lots of hog bristle brushes.
Great video! Thanks so much! What was the paper you were using?
Arteza Acrylic Paper. :) It's good stuff!
What is mfg of the Stipplers ?
Is the Dakota a Princeton ?
I can’t figure out how to find your links….help?
If you click on the video description "see more" below the video they will pop up. :)
You video has no chapters. It would be easier to navigate if it did. Informative video though 👌
In comparing brushes, and especially "brands", why not use the same size brushes? There really isn't a good comparison here. They are different sizes, used for different purpose. Around 1:10:00. Please do apples to apples in another video. Thank you for the video as a whole.
