It would have been a bit difficult seeing as how Funimation (based in Texas) had the licence for the anime and the game voice actors were all from LA. The only reason Naegi kept his VA was because he was recording the dub of Attack On Titan in Texas at the time.
Sakura and Celeste sounded trash in the English game
They kept Naegi's, Kirigiri's, and Naegi's voice actor.

+Ria Jellyfish Well, the big issue is the way Americans and Japanese talk. There are vocal variations combined with the actual structure of the language that limits the proper replication of tone. Plus there's probably a more diverse pool of voice actors in Japan so you work with what you have. I also though Makoto and Ishimaru were spot on.
+vernanonix Yeah, it's pretty tough to get an exact equivilent across the language barrier, but most of them fit pretty decently. Some just work better than others. [Mondo's took a while to get used to, but Asahina was pretty good right off the bat, for example.]
After playing the English dub of the game, this threw me off. I think my favorite cast will always be the English cast for the game.

@@amxterxsu138 I don't know anything about Mineta yet, but for Chihiro, I was just think that it makes the most sense to get a feminine-sounding guy to voice him since the realism would help make it a bit less confusing. Just for him specifically. Otherwise, woman voice male characters all the time.

I KNEW it was Jamie Marchi voicing Junko. I watched every episode of the english dub of "Panty and Stocking with Garderbelt" and Junko sounded just like Panty.

Ria Jellyfish Funimation usually does a good job with dubbing, but I just don't understand using different voice actors for an adaptation of something that already has voice actors... I wonder if the Persona 4 animation is different.

It's actually because the voices in the game, despite being cast okay, were very lackluster and a lot of people didn't like it. So they wanted to make the anime dub cast what THEY would have casted if they had to choose their voice actors. Kinda like that.

I watched in the English Dub, it wasn't that bad. I really think all of their voices fit to be honest. Junko's fit so well for her image to be honest. The Japanese dub for Celestia and Chihiro threw me off but I still like it.

To be honest, I'm already used to the dub. And for most of the cast (Taka, Togami, Junko, Makoto, Sakura, Monokuma), their English VA's in my opinion them better.

Celes: Japanese voice was quite calm. In the HTH Dub her voice was ok, but here... The VA didn't knew how to act, tbh.
Togami: I don't find his voice bad here, I prefer this over his voice in the HTH dub. But Akira Ishida fits his prepotence.
Sakura: She isn't supposed to sound like a girl, she's Ogre after all...
Chihiro: He deserves a soft voice, like the japanese one. That's all.

Tix Ryugamine Uhm... Excuse me? Ultimate Hope was a loser at the beggining of the game. He was there because of luck, not because Hope; Then he became Ultimate Hope by defeating Junko, joining the Future Fundation and that. But his voice in english NEVER MATCHED HIM. If they wanted to give him a male voice actor, they could use a young boy, like they did in FMA. Using this series as a base, I can assure you that a woman imitating the voice of a guy not always fails. Rie Kugimiya, the fucking "Tsundere Queen" is fucking Alphonse Elric; Maxey Witehead is a woman and she did an awesome impression of Aaron Dismuke's Alphonse (He was 12), so... That's kinda pointless. "That's how biology works", dude, it doesn't matter if you're a dude or a girl, in the dub industry just your talent matters.
Oh, "Chihiro was supposed to be a trap, that's why his voice couldn't be done by a guy" Uhm... Then a young boy can't do feminine voices? Sure, if he's like 12 and he can do a believable voice, he can; An example of how to not do it is Justin Briner in The Heroic Legend of Arslan; Once, his character dressed as a woman in order to obtain information, but the voice sounded fake, and that's why no one outside of the Arslan universe could believe his strategy. Chihiro's voice often sounded like a male, but with a falsette, like the actor or actress attempted to do it in purpose. Like he was attempting to sound like a girl, because biologically he was a boy, therefore, assuming he was 16/17, he wasn't able to speak like an authentic girl because his voice was finishing its development. It keept changing. It was a believable portrayal of a male attempting to sound like a girl; And personally I prefer the japanese voice, instead of the FUNimation dub.
I'm not saying no one has talent either, besides Glass, the voice actress of Junko/Mukuro gave her/them a good voice that fits and is close to the original japanese one. Sakura's voice doesn't fit very well, but its still enjoyable, and her VA ended up as Farangies in Arslan. What are you going to say next? Monokuma's english voice is a Masterpiece because Monokuma is a male and his english VA is a male as well? That's retarded. He sounds like a bad impression of Mikey Mouse.

DaganRonpa is a game, it ended with an anime, tho.
Also, I said "Sakura's voice doesn't fit very well, but is enjoyable". Its not a bad voice actress (at first I thought she was voiced by Envy's voice actress, tbh), but I still prefer her japanese voice, mostly because it made her more "special" in the lesson of "appearence doesn't matter, the way they behave is what matters".

I was surprised to hear Chris Sabat as Mondo than Keith Silberstein (though not as much when I found out he did Torbjorn in Overwatch.) But I liked it later on. Also Austin Tindle did a great impression at times when it came to Taka's lecturing.

I like both. I guess game allowed for more freedom and improv (maybe) because they aren’t lip-syncing. All the voice actors from both are insanely talented.

I like Chihiro’s anime voice better. I do think Dorothy Elias-Fahn does a fine job but there’s something about Kara Edward’s Chihiro that I like better.

The way I watched the thh anime before finding out that it was a game 😭 now I have finished the entire series but can play thh bc I still know the plot :( also they rushed so much it's sad, I don't like any of the characters because I didn't get to know them properly

Man. It really is a shame we couldn't get the voice actors from the game's dub to come back for the anime. They were all amazing. That said, I actually do really like Rachel Robinson's Sakura.
The anime has Funimation's finest. They're all wonderful voice actors. Its just...I preferred how most of them in the game sounded more like...well, normal people (with a few obvious exceptions). Whereas the actors in the anime made them sound more like over the top cartoon characters. They just sound more...natural in the game. What this anime did to Mondo, Hiro, and Junko is especially tragic in that regard (granted, Marchi's portrayal as Junko was comedy GOLD in the next anime)
When I watched the anime, literally the only one that I noticed had changed was Aoi's, everyone else seemed perfectly normal
