    До сих пор очень вдохновляет. по-моему одна из лучших, странно что в списках лучших песен gogol bordello её нет. это просто суть неспокойной души )

    omg you rule! This is the only GGB disc I don't own (it's import only where I live), yet this is one of my favorite GGB songs by far, and they never play it in concert anymore. Sure they don't have a sax in the band anymore, but they could finesse it w/ the accordion/violin/guitar argh.
    Thanks for the upload.

      It needs to happen. I'm sure they have a fuck ton of adventures to tell that would translate well in comic form.

    Haltura here is NOT "bad quality"...... Bordello has energy beyond dead-ass Americans;
    check out some of his other arrangements, Pala Tute, Through the Roof N' Underground,
    Tribal Connection, the sone on Immigration, American Wedding, etc. Makes ya wanna
    dance, sing and enjoy life.

      I think they were talking about the meaning of the word in the title, not the band.

      Per "why would this band do this?": maybe they want to remain an enigma to listeners. Would have to agree with the Question tho. I'm 2nd generation Polish in AmeriKa. Surname: Bembenek

    not true. It means side-job of off-the-books work in Hebrew. Its originally from the Russian word, which is where Gogol Bordello probably took it from (band has had 1 or 2 Israelis but the a majority of the main band members speak Russian or Ukrainian).
    In Hebrew, it also has the connotation of being a half-assed job because hey, it's not your real job anyway.

      Of course there is questions on Shakespeare's involvement in writing those plays, especially as he was the child of a wool trader that hadn't an education... unlike Christopher Marlow, who was the most famous playwright who was allegedly killed by two guardsmen, only they didn't know what he looked like; all because Marlow was Catholic.

    In Bulgarian haltura is something which pretends to be art, but is actually of bad quality and has been created only for money.

  • @doritela2008
    @doritela2008 12 лет назад

    Well, in Israel we use this word to say bullsh*t or when someone like a painter for example paints a sh*tty picture we say "This is nothing more than haltura"

    • @ghoststarstalk
      @ghoststarstalk 6 лет назад

      So life to you as well is haltura? A bitter cosmic joke?

    • @adamgitkind3336
      @adamgitkind3336 6 лет назад +1

      That actually came from the Russian immigrants because Haltura in Russian means rip off or fabrication/ faking. so the Israeli used it, (אני מתכוון לזיוף או רמאות).

  • @doritela2008
    @doritela2008 12 лет назад

    it means bullsh*t in yeddish/hebrew (wierd because this bad is not jewish as far as i know)

    • @adamgitkind3336
      @adamgitkind3336 6 лет назад

      well, if you read the lyrics of "Wonderlust king", there is a line in russian where Eugene says "Ya ne yevrey, no koye-chto pohozhe" which means "I'm not a Jew, but somthing very similar", and there are a lot more times that Eugene describes himself almost a jew.
      but as i replied to your other comment, yeddish and hebrew are not the real origins of the word so the song title doesn't show on any connection to the jews or israelis.

    • @1further
      @1further 6 лет назад

      Bit late in my reply! - but anyhow; one of the Band (a guitarist) is Israeli. ... and one is Ukranian / one is Russian / one is half Scottish+ half Chinese / one Ethiopian etc. etc. etc. :)
