Mary, great video and great tips. My husband works with the baggage handlers at airports. DO NOT take your Tim Holts glass mat. They THROW those bags around. That silicone mat os THE bomb for crafting anywhere. I love that you take your crafting on travel with you. BTW congratulations on your retirement! Enjoy. I am new to arts and crafts and scrapbooking etc... Live in a small apartment and have most of my stuff in boxes in the closet, pushing and stuffing things where I can. Oh how much I appreciate your helpful videos, please don't stop making them. You could attach velcro rough part strips to something else to put where the mirror is. Like a mini fabric bag that holds a travel-size wipey packet.
I just returned from a 4-day crafting retreat. I am not able to lug all the huge scrapbook bags I used to, so have started packing less and in multiple tote bags. Your video is a huge help! I can't believe I have not thought of using makeup bags, etc.! TFS!

Mary that Momma case is perfect for travel or the person who lives in a small place and may not have a designated craft space and putting away items is a must. While our house was being built we lived in our RV and crafting took skill and could never be kept out. But if that thing is really for makeup, I cannot imagine what it would be filled with, as a mascara and lip gloss type person that is mind boggling! I hope when you travel for a month you are able to take some of your clothes, I think you are taking most of your craft supplies!

Hey Denise, it's all about PRIORITIES!!! You can pick up undies & "T's" at Walmart, but it's get'g harder & harder to find THE crafting item you need at the local Joann's, Michael's, Hobby Lobby, or even Tuesday Mornings (where I actually COULD find goodies at the beginning of 2018)!!! They've become a MAJOR disappointment to any of us coming late to the paper crafting hobby. And there doesn't seem to be any THRIFTY places shop on line that I can find. $20.00PLUS dollars for a die, or a stamp set, is NOT my idea of a way to promote budding interest in the industry. Maybe I just need to hang it up. =-(

Okay first off I totally want your daughter's phone cover!! ( and I'm 56 years old LOL) the grid system in those one bags was brilliant to be able to customize the areas. Also brilliant how smart are you to put gamsol in an empty Copic marker. I have this clipboards with storage area under him but that one is really nice it's thicker than the ones I've had before. Also nice to know that that Fiskars mat doesn't Kink up when folded. I've had that in my wishlist on Amazon I just haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. But I did get the large Tim Holtz media mat for Christmas so now I have to figure out if I even need a silicone mat for anything but if I do now it will be the Fiskars one cuz I've gone back and forth on them. I don't travel but man do I love that travel blanket lol got to look and see if there's come in purple. Save the scratch-off map for when you go on The Amazing Race LOL super cool phone holder for videos. Remember righty tighty lefty Loosey LOL I almost didn't watch this cuz I don't really travel but I'm glad I did. It was really great thanks

It held everything I was working on for the plane ride and was so easy to just pull out and use. LOVE IT! Also, the travel blanket was mostly used as a lumbar support pillow on the plane and was so necessary so when I wanted it as a blanket it was good too. YAY!

Great items here Mary. I don’t craft on the go much and rarely try to take projects when we travel (which isn’t often). But I did see a couple things that might help me take supplies downstairs or outside when the kids want to play. I also saw a couple that would be nice for makeup supplies when we travel. Great products, my most used bags to go are my 31 bags, but not always ideal, however I’m not flying with them and load up the car with, but there are several items that I put on my wish list at Amazon and will get befor my next big crop weekend. Thanks for putting this all together.!💜🤗💞

Thank you for this! Recently, I’ve been making DIY project kits. So instead of buying a new paper crafting kit when it’s released, I’ve been trying to build a dupe from my current collection. I think a lot of these ideas would be a great way to minimize the total number of supplies I have out on my desk and to make grabbing a homemade kit and one of these supply bags to craft in the living room with my kiddo easy (instead of hauling everything into the living room, making a giant mess, and then needing to haul everything back into my craft space and never quite getting it put away, which leaves me with a giant mess for weeks to come). I’d love to hear more about your We r Memory Keepers magnetic board, especially as it compares to the Make Art Station. I’ve missed you on RUclips! Hi Krystin, I miss you too! I went from like 4 or 5 videos a week to barely one. insert my crying here. lol We had a big set back on the subscription business so that will have to be on hold for a bit. I started a new job too this month which is amazing but will have me gone a lot and will keep me very busy. I showed the small magnetic mat and I used to love it until i tried to use it as a die cutting plate and warped it. Would have been fine if i planned on never using it again as a magnetic mat. However, i have the large on from Scrapbook.com and LOVE it. I use that sometimes as well. Really great with the magnetic aspect because it holds down my projects, you could cut on it too. I wouldn't recommend it for heat setting though; it will warp. Hope you are having a lovely New Year as well!
Ok, I couldn’t decide between the large black makeup case or the medium (flowered). Then I saw that I could get both (no flowers - just solid black) for $39. The smaller one is perfect for my alcohol inks - I have 46 and there’s room for about 7-8 more. My Yupo and poster board will fit behind the top lid. The large one is replacing the typical tabletop tool caddy that most card makers/scrapbooked take to crops. Trying it out at one this weekend - excited to see how I like it!
The gooseneck clamp is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I will have to Get myself a travel blanket for sure. I have a couple clipboards similar to yours. I needed to have not seen that one. I am a sucker for clip boards with storage. I bring one with me when I travel and when I go to my kids soccer events where I have extra time between games to color.

Hi Lindar, which mat are you referring to? If the Fiskars, the thickness is good for what i do but not sure what you're needs are. Also it's a silicone material so it's rubbery and won't slip.
@@lindarc8860 Honestly, the mats look to be about the same other than the print on Mary's. Like Mary said, the thickness is good and it is a matte finish, no shine. What I love most about the silicone mat is blending on them! To me there is a big difference in blending on the silicone compared to just a craft mat. IMO. ❤
Cardmaking with Lisa Mensing I agree, I love silicone for blending, I do prefer the shiny finish because it’s stickier so it holds the card stock in place while you blend.
So happy to see this right now. We are leaving for a two week trip to Asia next month. Some of these will be fantastic for the 18 hour plane trips. TFS!

Great video Mary! I used to use a CD carrying case for my markers. It had hard plastic inserts and I could get so many in there and they were really secure. Great options in those makeup bags though. -Renee'

I was thinking of placing my precut card bases in the outer pockets of the blue, rectangular stamping platform. But your mesh bags work well also as they can slide into the back area with the foam tape roll. TFS, Mary! 😘✨✨
Love these bags! I have been traveling with a thirtyone toiletries bag for a while now and love it! I could use the bigger one when I travel to my sisters for our craft weekend we do. Just an FYI, you would not be able to bring the sprays on the plan as a carry on but you can put the whole thing in your luggage check in bag.

So fun and interesting! Ok, I wanna know where you went and what you did that you could travel for a month! I have gone with my husband on a business trip and took some crafting items and while there only did a little painting because while I thought I had brought everything I needed, I forgot watercolor paper! Doh! My husband took me to a local store but they only had a very cheap paper pad or a huge Arches pad. I opted for the cheap pad but regretted it because basically, I got what I paid for... it was terrible! Long story short, my travel crafting foray was not very successful. Wah wah...
Oh that stinks so bad that you forgot the paper. I was gone for a month of training for my job. I didn't forget anything, in fact I brought WAY too much. hahaha. But it was fun regardless

Some great travel stuff!! I use alot of thirty-one items for traveling...I love that clipboard with storage!! I use clipboards all the time crafting..a small one for travel and on the couch...for colouring. Wow a month away from your kiddos! Or do they get to come..that would be so hard...thank goodness for facetime!
Yes the skype/what's app/facetime technology is great! It's always hard being away from them but I find that my time with them because of that, is so much more quality. We don't take it for granted.

Hi Mary, such a helpfull video.I always take a sillicon mat for the kitchen with me when I travel.I also have a sturdy bag I can put on my suitcase.I also use a lot of pouches and lunchboxes to put my stuff in.The biggest problem for me is how to pack my paper.They get wrinkled and folded in my travel bags.
Heleen, I hear you on the paper situation. I recommend some sort of harder, more rigid protection for the paper. I also put my paper mostley in the mesh bags I showed and then in the side pocket of the inside of my suitcase. Nothing is there to bend it.

The score board is for making my bases mostly because i used very sturdy cardbases and need the help with the score tool. So you put the cardstock in and just use a bone folder to drag it down the line on the board and score (crease) the paper.
Just be careful about what craft supplies you’re taking on the plane... obviously scissors and craft knives are a big no-no 😬 I’m watching a friend’s dog next week while they’re away, but also promised other friends I’d do a craft night with them over Zoom. This video is a perfect reminder for what things to bring with me and how to pack them. Thank you!
Ok, Mary. After having the goose neck phone holder for a while, what is your review on it? Is it still as good as you thought it would be. You don't want to see my set up for filming at home (brand new RUclipsr). Let's just say, duct tape may have been used. :D
It still works very well although it's not a permanent tool in my craft space. I pull it out for selfie video stuff. I know the price is more but I use an Arkon for my permanent set up and cannot say enough good things about it. It's customizable, sturdy and I have mine affixed to the ceiling. My favorite is the map. My daughters and ex husband bought me an awesome framed World Map for Christmas one year. It is hanging on the wall in our hall and it came with pins, one color was for where i have been, what is where I aspire to visit and the third was for where I have plans in motion for. I want your map too though, as this one is so nice I don't want to pin it. And your gooseneck is a lot nicer than the one I have, mine is too flimsey to hold the phone for filming :(

Can I ask what is you day job? You sure seem to be rocking your day job and your side hustle of crafting. Wow. A month long trip. That is a long time. Will you go to one place or many?
I'd bet you COULD use the "Clip Board" pictured at 19:00 on the odometer as a Stamping Mechanism (with some foam sheeting inside the clear cover?) Also, to save your travel mates concern over their clothing, you might put dollops of inks or watercolors on a sheet of butcher paper in that top compartment; let them dry before packing; then you can use a barrel-type water brush to wet the paints for use. And, too, this piece looks to be a sorta decent size to stash some card stock so it won't get bent, spindled and mutilated. PS: Thank you BUNCHES for helping my creative juices get flowing!!

Oh, f.y.i. … If you need to keep a LARGE work surface clean, if you need an ink blending or ink smooshing surface, if you need a surface that glue can be “rubbed off” of, use REYNOLDS Plastic Coated FREEZER PAPER. Cheapest, most versatile craft surface available!! For traveling, I tear off a length, roll it up, and store it in a used cardboard tube (from foil, plastic wrap, or - in a pinch - a paper towel roll). >>> Just don’t do my faux pas and use it as a cutting mat!!! My cheap-y cutting mat from $🌲 is the “same” white, sorta.
Scissors. No that is not true. According to the TSA website scissors under four inches are allowed. I actually took a picture of the website for proof in case I had trouble in the airport.

The larger makeup cases are great for tubes of paint, pens, brushes, water bottles and more. I Own 3 of them! Acrylics, watercolors and pastels!

Thank you for this! Recently, I’ve been making DIY project kits. So instead of buying a new paper crafting kit when it’s released, I’ve been trying to build a dupe from my current collection. I think a lot of these ideas would be a great way to minimize the total number of supplies I have out on my desk and to make grabbing a homemade kit and one of these supply bags to craft in the living room with my kiddo easy (instead of hauling everything into the living room, making a giant mess, and then needing to haul everything back into my craft space and never quite getting it put away, which leaves me with a giant mess for weeks to come).

Hi Krystin, I miss you too! I went from like 4 or 5 videos a week to barely one. insert my crying here. lol We had a big set back on the subscription business so that will have to be on hold for a bit. I started a new job too this month which is amazing but will have me gone a lot and will keep me very busy.
I showed the small magnetic mat and I used to love it until i tried to use it as a die cutting plate and warped it. Would have been fine if i planned on never using it again as a magnetic mat. However, i have the large on from Scrapbook.com and LOVE it. I use that sometimes as well. Really great with the magnetic aspect because it holds down my projects, you could cut on it too. I wouldn't recommend it for heat setting though; it will warp.

Ok, I couldn’t decide between the large black makeup case or the medium (flowered). Then I saw that I could get both (no flowers - just solid black) for $39. The smaller one is perfect for my alcohol inks - I have 46 and there’s room for about 7-8 more. My Yupo and poster board will fit behind the top lid.
The large one is replacing the typical tabletop tool caddy that most card makers/scrapbooked take to crops. Trying it out at one this weekend - excited to see how I like it!

The gooseneck clamp is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.
I will have to Get myself a travel blanket for sure. I have a couple clipboards similar to yours. I needed to have not seen that one. I am a sucker for clip boards with storage. I bring one with me when I travel and when I go to my kids soccer events where I have extra time between games to color.

Hi Lindar, which mat are you referring to? If the Fiskars, the thickness is good for what i do but not sure what you're needs are. Also it's a silicone material so it's rubbery and won't slip.
@@lindarc8860 Honestly, the mats look to be about the same other than the print on Mary's. Like Mary said, the thickness is good and it is a matte finish, no shine. What I love most about the silicone mat is blending on them! To me there is a big difference in blending on the silicone compared to just a craft mat. IMO. ❤
Cardmaking with Lisa Mensing I agree, I love silicone for blending, I do prefer the shiny finish because it’s stickier so it holds the card stock in place while you blend.
So happy to see this right now. We are leaving for a two week trip to Asia next month. Some of these will be fantastic for the 18 hour plane trips. TFS!

Great video Mary! I used to use a CD carrying case for my markers. It had hard plastic inserts and I could get so many in there and they were really secure. Great options in those makeup bags though. -Renee'

I was thinking of placing my precut card bases in the outer pockets of the blue, rectangular stamping platform. But your mesh bags work well also as they can slide into the back area with the foam tape roll. TFS, Mary! 😘✨✨

Love these bags! I have been traveling with a thirtyone toiletries bag for a while now and love it! I could use the bigger one when I travel to my sisters for our craft weekend we do. Just an FYI, you would not be able to bring the sprays on the plan as a carry on but you can put the whole thing in your luggage check in bag.

So fun and interesting! Ok, I wanna know where you went and what you did that you could travel for a month! I have gone with my husband on a business trip and took some crafting items and while there only did a little painting because while I thought I had brought everything I needed, I forgot watercolor paper! Doh! My husband took me to a local store but they only had a very cheap paper pad or a huge Arches pad. I opted for the cheap pad but regretted it because basically, I got what I paid for... it was terrible! Long story short, my travel crafting foray was not very successful. Wah wah...
Oh that stinks so bad that you forgot the paper. I was gone for a month of training for my job. I didn't forget anything, in fact I brought WAY too much. hahaha. But it was fun regardless

Some great travel stuff!! I use alot of thirty-one items for traveling...I love that clipboard with storage!! I use clipboards all the time crafting..a small one for travel and on the couch...for colouring.

Yes the skype/what's app/facetime technology is great! It's always hard being away from them but I find that my time with them because of that, is so much more quality. We don't take it for granted.

Hi Mary, such a helpfull video.I always take a sillicon mat for the kitchen with me when I travel.I also have a sturdy bag I can put on my suitcase.I also use a lot of pouches and lunchboxes to put my stuff in.The biggest problem for me is how to pack my paper.They get wrinkled and folded in my travel bags.
Heleen, I hear you on the paper situation. I recommend some sort of harder, more rigid protection for the paper. I also put my paper mostley in the mesh bags I showed and then in the side pocket of the inside of my suitcase. Nothing is there to bend it.

I love the cases to organize things even at home. How do you use the score board?
The score board is for making my bases mostly because i used very sturdy cardbases and need the help with the score tool. So you put the cardstock in and just use a bone folder to drag it down the line on the board and score (crease) the paper.

Ok, Mary. After having the goose neck phone holder for a while, what is your review on it? Is it still as good as you thought it would be. You don't want to see my set up for filming at home (brand new RUclipsr). Let's just say, duct tape may have been used. :D
It still works very well although it's not a permanent tool in my craft space. I pull it out for selfie video stuff. I know the price is more but I use an Arkon for my permanent set up and cannot say enough good things about it. It's customizable, sturdy and I have mine affixed to the ceiling. They are just frames so you can fold them up flat when you dont need them
My favorite is the map. My daughters and ex husband bought me an awesome framed World Map for Christmas one year. It is hanging on the wall in our hall and it came with pins, one color was for where i have been, what is where I aspire to visit and the third was for where I have plans in motion for. I want your map too though, as this one is so nice I don't want to pin it. And your gooseneck is a lot nicer than the one I have, mine is too flimsey to hold the phone for filming :(

I'd bet you COULD use the "Clip Board" pictured at 19:00 on the odometer as a Stamping Mechanism (with some foam sheeting inside the clear cover?) Also, to save your travel mates concern over their clothing, you might put dollops of inks or watercolors on a sheet of butcher paper in that top compartment; let them dry before packing; then you can use a barrel-type water brush to wet the paints for use. And, too, this piece looks to be a sorta decent size to stash some card stock so it won't get bent, spindled and mutilated. PS: Thank you BUNCHES for helping my creative juices get flowing!!

Oh, f.y.i. … If you need to keep a LARGE work surface clean, if you need an ink blending or ink smooshing surface, if you need a surface that glue can be “rubbed off” of, use REYNOLDS Plastic Coated FREEZER PAPER. Cheapest, most versatile craft surface available!! For traveling, I tear off a length, roll it up, and store it in a used cardboard tube (from foil, plastic wrap, or - in a pinch - a paper towel roll).
