- Nagano, JAPAN - 1998 Winter Games, Figure Skating, Pairs' Free Skate - Oksana Kazakova and Artur Dmitriev of Russia skated a strong program to easily win the Free Skate and winning the Gold Medal here. An interview with the pair follows.
How much do you love Artur Dmietriev for saying that he didn't deserve the 6.0, just the 5.9's? I always loved his skating--so passionate and innovative. But to hear him say that and know how honest and humble he is, makes you love him as a person, too.
Bellissimo!!! Bravissimi❤️
The passion, the intensity, the masterpiece which is Kazakova & Dmitriev!!!
I remembered how she struggled when she first became his partner. She improved a lot, but she still never held a candle to Natalia M.
artur dmitriev is by far the best. They won clearly that night. And from 4:12 on it's only heartbreaking fantastic!
I just love this. I love what Tamara did with them. Amazing
Artur was wonderful to watch and a pretty good human being too. I liked Natalia better than Anna, but both partners were fully deserving of their wins. And Katia's reaction was so poignant, makes my heart break a little all over again.
One of the best programes.
Music, performance.
Touching, crying
Kazakova & Dmitriev are way ahead of everyone else.
The best part of the program comes in 6:54 and finishes 6 seconds later.
I absolutely adored this program when I saw it and I was so dissappointed when I couldn't see it again a Worlds (Artur got sick). 4th place from the german judge, I guess that was to 'help' secure W&S bronze medal IMO should have went to I&D.
This couple 👌🏻👌🏻💪🏻👏👏👏
I never got what was so “great” about Arthur’s skating. He’s like a mere assistant to his both partners on the ice. Throw, lift, put her down on the ice. Thank you very much. To me all eyes were on Natasha and Oksana. Even here: her elegance, her beautiful lines, amazing flexibility, emotional dramatic skating. Just awesome. I barely notice he’s there at all.
Sikharulidze was a different story, now he had a real personality on the ice.
Man, you sure are smoking crack. LMAO. Artur was ALL passion.
@@BrentWolgamott He was for you and your idea of passion. lol Now if you don't understand what it means to have a different opinion but still respect someone's right to have and express one then take your sh* away of my post. I can also CAPSLOCK it if you love so much to make people think the same this way.
Come si fa? Come si fa? Come si fa? Una magia dall'inizio alla fine......
Performed with their hearts under their sleeves.
That German judge was smoking something, placing that performance 4th. I don't love this program. I actually find it a little dull but it was clearly the best of the night. 4th. That's a joke.
Smoking something aka cheating.
Perfect except for the endless inane chatter from Scott Hamilton and Tracy "B" Wilson. These commentators need to shut up during the program and comment at the END.
Had Dmitriev had this skating partner in 1994 he may have won the gold...in 1994 there was no gracefulness and it was choppy..this program had grace and they complimented each other...wonderful.
I believe that g and g would have won gold in this olimpics because this performance was in the level they had back in 1994, they’d be far more advanced by 1998
Good skating and easy gold, but the marks were pretty generous. 5.9s for tech with a singled axel and 6.0 for presentation?? I would have given 5.7/5.9 at the most. Artur was right that 6.0 was rather generous.
I think 58/59 is about right. The only real error was when she did a single axel but jump wise they were solidly ahead of the rest as they did clean triples and double axels doube toe combos.
Compared to the other pairs atleast 5.8 for technical merit. Their teammates and the Germans had made more and much bigger mistakes and completed less and still got some 5.8s technically. Even Ina & Dungen made a bunch of mistakes and had 2 5.8s for technical merit.
Scott Hamilton can get very annoying at times!
This time, the priest's wife rules the night!
G&G always get grief for making a couple of small mistakes in their very difficult 1994 Gold Medal LP, yet this 1998 performance from K&D is,front end loaded with crappy sbs jumps&simplistic two handed lifts.
Crappy side by side jumps? So clean side by side triple toes, clean side by side double axel sequence, and almost another double axel (one of them singling) is crappy sbs jumps for the era, LOL! And G&G's 94 program was gorgeous but hardly "very difficult". Most of the top teams at that event were doing a side by side triple toe and a throw triple toe, they did nothing harder than a side by side double axel and even did a mere throw double axel.
@@douglasbrown5671 yes I agree, G&G we’re far above everyone in terms of elegance, flow, speed and just overall composition. However they only did double axels and one double jump which Sergei singled and katias landing on one of the throws was sloppy. Technically they did easier elements and still had small mistakes whereas the silver and bronze medalists had extremely difficult elements
Messy
Crap in your panties again, fool?
This didn't age well. Weak lifts, seemed like they banged into each other a lot.
They won the gold bc this competition was fixed. Both the russian teams had mistakes in their programs. The only clean pair was the germans. Dimitriev has no grace whatsoever, looks like an ogre on ice.
Russians teams had more strong basic skills and more difficult programs. All was well in this competition

The Germans weren't clean at all. Mandy stepped out of her double axel, which is a bigger mistake than any in this program, and two footed a throw too.
