I just spent the last 2 weeks or so manually running every single fight in POTD (pre-CODA2 anyway). It was fun, but only for a few battles at a time. I think if I tried to run it all in a weekend I would have given up.
Good stuff! They may not be that good for how late you get them and how rare the spels are but as you say they are cool and have their little niche. I can always appreciate some extra flavor to the roster!
I have a light alignment ghost warlock for my auto team. Hes equiped with starfall 1 and 2 for perma killing undead units and hes been much more reliable doing that than any other unit. He also boosts my fire element zombie pumpkin if i field him. Other than this though, i didnt find a setup that worked for the other warlock, anything i tried was underwhelming so i just switched them back to a vanilla wizard.
I wouldn't say that the psp warlocks are entirely worse. They get access to quite a few more spells in main story, which makes them......more interesting to use! Yeah that's about it.
I wanted to add that starfall is usable by 'real' undead, too, not just liches =] (For some reason, it wouldn't let you in one of the small patches, but in a post 1.06 world all zombie witches and ghost warlocks can use it just fine.) My zombie AI team uses one (1) ghost witch with Starfall 2 and Gordian Lock. She hits decently hard with her AoE, but mostly, she's there to AoE exorcism and stop golems from slowing the team down. Like you mentioned, Gordian Lock isn't the big issue that Dragon's Scale is, but some levels are full of golems and she makes sure they die fast. I also give her empower golem since I like to use a zombie pumpkin songstress on the team. Who needs songs when you've got empower golem and a maxed rose whip on a pumpkinhead with vigorous assault from an ogre blade? I like your idea about a holy warlock, but renewal, sanctify, evade, etc., all come so late that my only witch was part of the undead team and renewal doesn't work on zombies. Like you, those abilities went to my Dark Lord and my angel. I wish they'd come a lot earlier. We should have Gift of Renewal before songstresses give AoE renewal, in my humble opinion. Anyways, a good class with variety, but also an easy class to skip.
Liches can use Starfall/Starfall II. It's just that they suffer a noticeable Spell ATK penalty due to them being forced into the Dark Affinity (which is weak to Starfall's Light element). Undead casters aren't locked out of Light-element Spells, they're locked out of the Divine category/school of magic. This is why Ghost Warlocks/Witches can still use Starfall/Starfall II, because those fall under the Draconic category/school of magic.
Agreed on all parts. I know I had my Lord running Renewal and Starfall 2 with Conserve MP alongside an otherwise Rune Fencer setup the whole second half of the game.
Yeah, I felt like my witches/warlocks were kinda under-performing, but couldnt really pick out why. It'd be nice if you could get Draconic spells earlier, because I think they'd made a better case for Warlock during the campaign. By the time you get any draconic magic, you likely have summons, apocrypha, and Necromancy that are all kinda cooler. Starfall is great though.
Yeah, I kinda wanted to see the utility spells as bonus mission rewards or something, it's so ultra late game that they're almost out of the equation a lot of the time.
The warlock is an ok support draconic caster, besides denam he is only one that can run gift of renewal, negate and nullify at the same time. The main thing is that I used songtress a lot for renewal, so I could just run deneb as wicce to get those defensive draconics and some apocrypha as well. I never tested a pumpkin berserker, if I were to build one I would probably use evil deeds with medidate 4 just for the slow lol, but I would need a lot of hp charms to make it viable 😅.
I love this series you do. When I see a new one I drop what I’m doing and watch it.
I'm glad it's fun! There's a lot of little use cases for everything, and that's what makes this series great!
I hear golden sun music and this brings a smile to my face. Also, intuitive video!
Glad to amuse, and of course, they're basically Adepts in KoL and OV, even if they're a bit confused elsewhere. Where is your whip, Mr Magic Jones?!
I need to run Hell Gate for the first time... Welp, there goes my weekend. Sorry, girlfriend. Sorry, job. Sorry, church.
Get an AI team, and do them all!
@@CoffeePotato 🤔🤔🤔...
*sets it up* Whoa, cool. Thanks, man!
Yeah, never do Hell’s Gate/POTD manually. It’s tradition that you will get sick while doing it. 😂

God forgive you...
I never thought about it before but hearing someone say aloud “Liches aren’t technically undead” just made my brain screech to a halt for a moment
They died so hard they didn't.
I hope you were proud when you made that pun on the thumbnail.
I was, this episode was purely because they could be quickly swapped from Wizards and I wanted to make a dumb joke 🤣
Golden Sun lighthouse music! Had to reach into the recesses of my brain for that one
Reach into the happy place!
Magical Indiana Jones
Just like my earth Witch slinging rocks at folks miles away
Accurate
To be fair, he shouldn't have done so many sword twirls.

They're kind of a backup if you'd prefer to only use normal classes.

True, but those gem costs hurt something fierce, and then hours later you realize you forgot to train Meditate. .

zombie pumpkin head golems + some warlocks seem like a good auto team.
Crystal Pumpkin and Pumpkin Strike definitely go surprisingly far for that.

Not necessarily, DD, especially the mask has some really good resists
Does the AI try to avoid spells they’re weak to?
If they can, they try, but it's not 100%. Like they'll try to avoid arrows too, but will still consider getting into attack range if they can.
Well darn, that's too bad :/, I guess I'll stick with the others lol
Aww yeah. First!
Well that was quick!
