Lego religiously gives 5-20 extra pieces depending on the amount of pieces in the set. The only time I had a set that didn’t have extra pieces was when it was a set with less than 100 pieces in it. If Nerf was like this they’d have a lot better rep and sales.

I think it's all money driven. Ultra was an attempt at DRM darts! They wanted to kill any possibility of aftermarket darts or crossover from competitors. As to the R&D thing, there really wouldn't be nearly as much required for a half-length system. Most of the Elite line would be capable with minor tweaks. There are also tons of diy/3D-printed blasters online. You think they couldn't just 'take some inspiration' from what already exists and come up with an injection mould? Hubris. Pure and simple.

I wouldn't call a stock Perses "done right". It's only a half-complete product without an expanded hopper with a larger loading gate and maybe also an improved feed ramp.
The blaster sounds like it's in pain. It reminds me of how the indoraptor was a tortured animal supposedly "better" than its predecessor, the indominus Rex. Heck. The indominus Rex is pretty much the perses, as they are both better than their successors and were treated well by their creators.

Yes, the perses had an "organized hopper so it could get a consistent rate of fire without an agitator. I think this blaster is more like a nemesis in a perses form factor. People just default to call any full-auto hopper fed rival blaster a perses.
I'll buy into Hyper when Drac/Luke /XYZ company carry CHEAP Hyper rounds (maybe $0.07-$0.09 per round??), and when the Rush goes on sale for $23-$26. I would also definitely get Drac's hop up muzzle for the Rush.

If you are looking for a sidedarm or a effective pistol in a rival game that allows hyper, the hyper rish 40 has the same form factor of the rival kronos, but has 8 times the capacity( the rush 40 holds 40 rounds, the kronos only holds 5). plus you can easliy reload the rush 40 especially if you have one of those refil canstier thingys since its hopper fed. just pointing out that even tho the performance of hyper is kind of a step down, it has superior capacity and faster reloads, which can be very useful at certain times

this may be a total shot in the dark but I haven't seen any videos about possibly coating the hyper balls in something like baby power to get them to feed more reliably, maybe a good idea to try just as an experiment.
Good concept, but I'd worry about incidental gumming of the flywheels or feeder mechanisms. Not to mention that even a slight amount of humidity will cause gradual caking along the length of the barrel, eventually increasing friction.
The thing that boggles my mind is why they went away from the rival series. These hyper rounds are going to be even harder to find after a big nerf war. The rival rounds are hard enough to find in all the hidden corners and under couches, and now lets make the rounds HARDER to find so our customers have to buy EVEN MORE.

I remember when NERF meant quality, design competence, and an assured good time. It's sad to see them fall so far but what can you expect from a giant corporation like Hasbro. I wonder if the engineers over at NERF are okay with this? Do you think the same people that built the Stryfe and the Hammershot also built the Ultra line? Or did Hasbro fire all their designers when they realized they could just recycle old mechs with an endless amount of re-skinning to save a few pennies.
While I appreciate the safety aspect of including glasses, I feel like it will just end up as more plastic waste. They are cheap and bad enough that serious nerfers will probably already have something better and kids/casuals will likely just not wear them.
A little late to the video, but this looks like a "budget" Perses. The barrel - without hop-up - is basically cosmetic because it's got way too much space inside for a straight shot. It's pretty much a full-auto, high-capacity shotgun without any mods.
Nerf seems to think that because the dimples work on golf balls will work on rival/hyper. But the nerf rival/hyper rounds are to small for the dimples to properly take effect. So inorder for the rounds to be more accuate would be the more superior triangler dimples, (like in the adventure force rounds)
I've been wondering for a few videos whether the hyper blasters are painted or printed (like screen printing, not 3d) I worked at a vinyl and graphic printing factory for a few years and there were several pieces we would print textures onto just with a special ink for it. I'm not about to drop $70 bucks to try and find out, but it would potentially be a cheaper and faster means of production and explain paint on both sides sense they'd need that texturing anyway.
I'm curious, when you say rubber do you mean latex rubber or silicone rubber. The distinction is extremely important for some people. Because when people hear rubber the hear latex. I just wanted to know.
I know it’s annoying that the glasses aren’t anything special, but I think that it is still a very good thing to be include as many children who buy these don’t understand that eye protection needs to be bought to play safely. I still want a perses, yet I would like to have the rush 40, a blacklight and a couple of buddies to battle in a gotcha type of room, I don't dislike the Hyper line, but that ammo really needs to be played with in a very closed space with blacklight. The only thing is that I wish that the perses was lower in price here in my homeland, maybe one day they drop in price since I just love the performance of that blaster and what can I say I love rival.
i wasnt going to spend 70 on this at all, but i found one at a thrift store that was jammed but had brand new batteries for 6 dollars and couldnt pass it up. got the 40 in the same trip for 3 bucks, might have to check out that muzzle for it
So happy to have paid only $66 for my 2nd Perses and not a Mach-100 😁 included all 50 balls, 8-10 rounds per second, and 108 FPS which knocked the hop up tab out of the barrel the third time I fired it.
I feel like they only include 80% of the ammo because if the hopper is too full of these sticky rubbery ammo pellets, it would probably perform worse in feeding?

I'm going to guess that there is a acceptable minimal amount of ammo to include because mine came with 82. Unfortunate that they are willing to allow this kind of differential but it doesn't seem to be malicious.
The Google's may have been scratches by their distributors not Hasbro (Nerf) themselves. Basically, the quality control failed to inspect the incoming products Hasbro buys them from
why couldnt they have just taken the perses, and 1, rewired it, and 2, made the barrel and space between the flywheels smaller to account for the size of the nerf hyper rounds (and also repainted it)
Well, I just ordered one off Amazon for $51 Canadian shekels ($38usd), so your prediction was right. The 100 round refiller is also only $15CAD ($11usd)
Dart Zone's Monolith is not only cheaper, but can fire both Hyper and Rival rounds. Why would I buy this over the Monolith when I can shoot both out of it, and at a lower price point.
Heck yeah man, thank you for keeping it real instead of letting a couple dollars buy you off (I should probably say "cents", to keep it real at this point). Hasbro has simply fallen off the wagon and I'm basically through with Nerf at this point. With the kind of stuff they have been releasing--more concerned with themes than performance, and not even including fully loaded blasters as you pointed out--they have gone to a point of penny-pinching that disgusts me. I simply cannot see them turning anything around quickly enough in my book to impress me ever again, but who knows.
Nerf removed the hop up tab to gain a few extra FPS and set it apart from rival. I’ve done the same thing with a rival Zeus. Get another 10 FPS more but at the expense of accuracy.

It's not actually rubber, its a TPE of some sort. Rubber like, but not actually rubber

I'm going to guess that there is a acceptable minimal amount of ammo to include because mine came with 82. Unfortunate that they are willing to allow this kind of differential but it doesn't seem to be malicious.

Dart Zone's Monolith is not only cheaper, but can fire both Hyper and Rival rounds. Why would I buy this over the Monolith when I can shoot both out of it, and at a lower price point.

Heck yeah man, thank you for keeping it real instead of letting a couple dollars buy you off (I should probably say "cents", to keep it real at this point). Hasbro has simply fallen off the wagon and I'm basically through with Nerf at this point. With the kind of stuff they have been releasing--more concerned with themes than performance, and not even including fully loaded blasters as you pointed out--they have gone to a point of penny-pinching that disgusts me. I simply cannot see them turning anything around quickly enough in my book to impress me ever again, but who knows.
Nerf removed the hop up tab to gain a few extra FPS and set it apart from rival. I’ve done the same thing with a rival Zeus. Get another 10 FPS more but at the expense of accuracy.

I hate hopper feeding. It removes the immersion for me to shake the hopper to agitate the ammo. I much prefer mags
