I'm glad you paused after saying "In this town"
It gave me time to sing "-we call home, everyone hail to the pumpkin song."
    La la la lala la!

I really enjoyed this book! I totally wasn't expecting the twist at the end so it basically blew my mind in the moment haha! It also gives me a lot of autumn vibes so i kinda want to reread it now. :)

I really enjoyed this one for the atmosphere! Despite all the people dying, I really wanted to visit Sparrow and eat at the bakery!

I completely agree! I also felt like the story is set at the wrong time of year. The characters are always talking about it being cold, and they are wearing sweaters (except for one time when Penny is in shorts and a tank top)... in summer. I felt like it should have been set during the Fall. The ending was disappointing... kind of glorifying unhealthy relationships 🤷‍♀️

How did it glorify unhealthy relationships? I didn’t really catch that lol

    Spoilers:
Yes! After realizing that she was the one who killed his brother, I liked that he was upset because, why wouldn’t he be, but to be apprehensive that she was gonna sacrifice herself to end the curse, was just not my favorite thing to happen. She has been killing innocent boys for 200 years, he’s only known her for like 3 weeks, and she killed his brother! Why does he still like her? “She whispers in the breeze I love you still. He feels it and smiles” UGH! No! She’s a terrible person! Loved 85% then hated everything past the twist finding out that Hazel was inhabiting the same girl 3 years in a row. Also does she ever figure out that Hazel killed her father?

Not to mention that he was cool with killing any of the sisters even if they weren't the one who killed his brother but then doesn't want her to kill herself... 🙄

Yeah, I read this book months ago, and I'm still undecided if I like it or not. Debating on donating the book to the library. I do that to all books I don't plan on re-reading, don't have a lot of space for books, so I want to keep space for books that I love.
I also don't like the implication of why he stayed. It felt icky, for lack of a better word. I don't know. I might have to re-read the ending just to clarify that part of the story.

Ohh yeah this is gonna be great one Elliot. I love witch stories & this could be a perfect fall Halloween book to read especially for my asmr videos. I love how this story is set up. It's giving me a goosebumps kinda vibe & i like that. So once i read, ill give you my final thoughts. Thanks for the great info about the writing style. Hope you have an awesome Happy Reading day my friend 💫💜

I would’ve rated this book a whole additional star had the author not added the Land and Sea epilogue. It kind of threw out Bo’s peace out the window.

Good video, finished reading it despite the mixed reviews. So far the negative reviews seem to outweigh the positive, This story had so much potential, loved the atmosphere and the concept. What made me lose interest was the twist near middle of the book, and the ending. Now I'ma hunt for a GOOD book to get my mind off this "meh" kind of book.

Why did the twist make you lose interest?? I thought the book was quite predictable up until that point

I liked it okay. I wish I hadn’t guessed the twist so soon! I agree the ending was unsatisfying.

I started reading this book yesterday. It's still the beginning but I'm not crazy about it so far. I, too, would run away from this place but I guess there wouldn't be any story, right? 😁 Thanks for this video!

I know this is super late, but I just found your channel and I'm going through all your old videos and I remember trying to read this book. I initially bought it because I LOVED the beautiful book cover and the concept seemed interesting. Sadly, I DNFed this book about 2/3 of the way through because I disliked it haha.

    SPOILERS
I LOVED the first part, it was so atmospheric and just overall awesome, but the second part ruined the book for me. I HATED Hazel and Beau, but that didn't really bother me that much, I was more like "Ok, no big deal, it will be a 4 star book, not a 5, it happens"....and then the last two chapters happened. I feel so bad for the real girl that Hazel posessed, her life was literally ruined by her. She didn't get out of town, was raped (I don't care what anyone says, the girl wasn't in control so to me that's like someone taking advantage of someone unconscious, not cool) and ended up with a guy that only was with her because she looked like Hazel, he didn't like HER. And I agree, Hazel needs to move on. That bitch's already dead, she should just stay dead.

Yes yes yes 100% yes. I do want to give the authors second book a chance, but if she tries to do twists like that again, she’s gonna be an author I pass on.

Teodora Penoiu my very thoughts exactly. I didn’t even like when it was randomly thrown out there that Penny was no longer Penny. It was like just randomly thrown out there on the page. I definitely didn’t like that Bo and Penny ended up together and then Hazel whispers in the wind. Wth! That’s annoying 😂

So I read this around the same time last year and it was a bit of a disappointment for me. I remember it being really atmospheric and dark and myserious, all things I loved! But as the romance started becoming more focal to the story, I started losing interest. I was let down by this awesome build up that led into a mediocre climax, at least for me. I ended up donating it to my local book store. I plan to read Ernshaw's next book 'Winterwood' just to give her another try, but deff won't be buying it. Lol

This one isn't for me, I don't like when athours put religion & twist it making it creepy. I wish more reviews would explain things like yours. :)

:))))) Your hands look so small when they're away from the camera and so big when they're close to it! I know that's normal, but I can't stop looking at them and laughing. They're so funny... or perhaps I'm very tired today and reacting in a weird way to such details!?
