That closing line from Orvus has been my favourite quote from pretty much any movie or game, ever since I played this game way back when it came out. It just resonates with me so much.
Something really worth noting about this game is that ratchet is not only very small in general but also for a lombax. His size is put into account several times throughout the story even to the extent of making him a smaller version of every hologuise in the franchise so far. I think it's funny though because he always comes out on top
Spoilers in this comment! . . . . . I think about this game's ending a lot. Specifically the way they have a fight with an incredibly cartoonish villain with an incredibly cartoonish goal - which is fine, it's Dr Nefarious, that's part of his charm that his plans are mostly just saturday morning cartoon show plots. And then they lead it into this incredible sequence inside the clock itself, with Azimuth in contrast being a character that's actually a little bit nuanced and a motive that has a lot more depth than "everyone's robots". Definitely one of my favorite video game endings, and I'm glad it holds up as well as I remembered it doing.
So for anyone who experienced this wonderful series through Penny's LPs; Imagine getting up to here, then having the 2016 game take up an ENTIRE console generation.
I'm glad that Clank had the 6 minutes loophole from God I mean the janitor. It would be pretty weird to build up Azimuth as being wrong to want to use the clock because of the risk it poses just to have Clank do it for basically the exact same reason. Especially with Clank being better informed that it would potentially destroy the universe.
Our final collection of 32 Zoni is Tony, Jeffrey, Todd, Steven, Kevin, Kaitlyn, Sarah, Tracy, Margaret(obtained between Steven and Kevin, named later), Juliet, Laura, Ellie, Joel, Abby, Dina, Owen, Lev, Tommy, Murray, Bentley, Carmalita, Sly, Clockwork (or Clockwerk), Ted, Robin, Marshall, Lily, Barney, Joshua, Shiki, Neku, and Beat. Also, on a different note, spoilers: That ending actually made me tear up a bit when Clank went back to Ratchet. I'm surprised how invested I am with these characters after keeping up with this whole series.
i dont think you have to mention spoilers anymore since there is no way to play a crack in time now. i really wanted to play those games, but the only ratchet and clank game on ps4 is a not canon game with a really bad storyline. this could ruing my playthrough for rift apart once i get that ultimate console
Interesting thing: This is among the selection of Ratchet and Clank games that has an Insomniac Museum, and it showcases a bunch of beta content, concept art, etc. It's also vaguely based on their office space (and Clank's mindscape). Definitely worth checking out on your own!
@@ariajacobs5719 considering that the 2016 reboot/movie tie-in is widely reviled and considered non-canon by the fanbase it's unsurprising that this isn't more widely known
I believe in my heart of hearts, Clank told Ratchet to be proud so he could hold onto this memory of a person he trusted. I fully believe Clank had the same reaction that ALL OF US HAD where it was “YOU *BITCH*”. I think he just smothered the pettiness for Ratchet, whos mourning
When I played this back when It first came out I thought they seriously killed off nefarious and was kind of bummed I was happy to see him come back in all 4 one
This game really is the crowned jewel of the PS3 era of games, whether it's better than UYA or not, it is by far the best PS3 Ratchet and Clank and deserves ALL of the love it gets, for the devs Love put into it if nothing else. A Crack in Time is the only PS3 title I've been able to play and not get bored. The only real issues I've even considered with this game is the in game dialogue like you mentioned, but it was still experimental. The clank sections in post game are incredibly hard too for dedicated players. God I love this game. Thank you Penny for letting me relive this game again
glad to see you really enjoyed this game! i recently start replaying it and man its just as good as i remember! so dang fun! some of the story elements im not crazy on but i think they were done well enough! really glad to see you had a good time with it !
Technically this game could be the end of the series, but with what Clank said in the end it could not be the end thus nexus and rift apart, though its still the best Ratchet and clank game. (or along with RaC 2 or Rac 3.)
There's one part of the bonus content from this game that I *do* hope you stream at some point (not necessarily as part of the leadup to Rift Apart; but like if you get around to it on your own time at some point and happen to decide to stream it, that'd be cool), because I remember how excited I was when I first unlocked it
Thanks for uploading this so quickly! I really wanted to watch it live last night, but had to call it a night before I could get through the last vod. Hoping I can be there for the next one!
@@LadyMoonNugz184 While it was certainly out of anger, I believed he felt bad about it but justified it because he would turn back time so he can undo his death, alongside that of his family. He killed him here because he would’ve stopped him from using the Clock to fix his mistake; one that has haunted him for years.
@@LadyMoonNugz184 I wouldn't say that Azimuth got the lombaxes killed, at least not intentionally. If he knew so many people were going to die, he would obviously have stopped. Azimuth was definitely redeemable on that regard. He really fucked up by giving Tachyon access to lombax technology and had to be punished by it, but at the end of the day he still wanted to do the right thing At the point where he kills Ratchet, it is a conscious action made by him. He knows fully well the consequences of what he's doing and yet he does it anyway despite being told time and time again by literally everyone that has any idea on the matter that what he's doing is going to have great consequences That's the point where forgiveness is no longer an option. He makes a conscious decision out of anger and shame instead of owning up to his mistakes
One thing that irked me so much about this game was despite all the customization and fun shit you could do, you can't change your armor in the base Ratchet skin after you upgrade
@@DoktorInsano98 a bit sad, but it’s mostly flavor dialogue, so she didn’t miss out on too much, i guess. considering she already knew nefarious would survive for rift apart. I do love the credits here though, one of my favorite jokes in the series is in here
I love the closing line for the end of this game. It’s such a good callback to Azimuth’s line “the universe has a cruel sense of humor.”
Oh shit, that’s a good as hell call!
Honestly he should've just laughed when his best friend died, smh
@@ariajacobs5719 He obviously doesn't mean it literally. He's saying the universe works in mysterious ways, but everything balances out in the end
@@Maxisamo1 Well no duh, but it's funnier to think he's calling Azimuth a pussy for missing his entire race.

The best part about the nefarious hologuise section is the fact that everything Nefarious is saying, is RATCHET

So the female Lombax on the overlay screen used to work at State Farm and Lord Vorselon used to be Ratchet’s father’s accountant. Small universe.
Oh yeah, "the Plumber is the God of the Ratchet and Clank universe" has been a joke in the fandom for a while
