    Thank you didn’t realize I had to twist the piston in🤨. Used your needle nosed pliers trick, worked well. Thanks again 👍🏼

    Im renting the tool for the piston from NAPA around $70 I really hope I wont be replacing the caliper latter. Mine wont go in with the alligator pliers. The bolts don't come off as easy as in many of these videos or at least my didn't. Before you begin get a 12-14" pipe that will slip over your ratchet or breaker bar for added leverage. (This would have been easy on a lift with air tools!) Use never sieze graphite grease when you assemble (in the right locations). I sprayed everything with brake clean and my hands still where black. You may want to wear gloves.. I used a 13mm and 14mm socket for the bolts. Good Luck!

    Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Great tip for getting the piston to go down. I just bought a C clamp🤦🏽‍♀️

      You need that for most cars! I got lucky on this one.

      Mmh I tried doing my brake job but had to stop and go to mechanic as those couldn’t go down.

    Great video, but fyi the torx bolts don't need to be put back on. If you live in a rust belt region you'll never put them back on as they seize. They are only used to make it easier for assembly line when the car is put together. If you _do_ decide to reuse them, I'd definitely recommend antiseize on the threads. Another thing I do when working on Fusions is I use regular/thin wall sockets to take off the lugs. Most cars I use impact sockets, but the impact ones don't recess deep into the wheel because there isn't a lot of clearance and the impact sockets are thicker. By using thin walled deep sockets I have had better luck at removing them without destroying the cheap casing. But yeah, they are bad. Ford did a lousy job making them. Again, great video.

    I felt it in my soul when you said be really careful with those lug nuts. just bought a box of new ones. lol

    How do you completely remove the parking break on this car? Dealership said there is no replacement cable and the cable needs to be completely removed due to the wire is exposed. Thanks!

    What kind of grease are you using?

  • @EdwardT9
    @EdwardT9 3 года назад +3

    Replace those lug nuts ASAP. They’ll leave you stranded one day. The vice grip trick is great, thanks! Torque the caliper carry bolt, and do not use anti seize on it otherwise it will loosen and the caliper comes out. Don’t ask how I know that!!

    Im about to replace my wife's rear brakes on her 2012 ford fusion. It doesnt look like i need that fancy tool... a pair of needle nose pliers work huh? Another thing if the brakes are locked tight would i hurt anything prying them off.

    • @seanysockets7391
      @seanysockets7391  3 года назад

      Needle nose plyers worked fine for me! Just be careful. If the caliper is fully pressing the pads into the rotor, you could try using a flatbed screw driver to get under it and sort of wiggle it loose. You could try a rubber mallet too. I’ve never had much of a problem getting them off. Just dont damage the pads, rotors, or caliper.

    Question if your still replying to comments. I replaced the rotors and pads on my Fusion same year. My rear left were making a terrible scratching sound, when i removed the left caliper the pad material was completely gone. The right one had normal ware. when we were trying to put the rear left caliper back around the brake pads it was a pain to push it back but we eventually got it, but after both sides were done I took it for a test drive came back and it smell like something burning. we came to the conclusion that the rear left caliper is constantly pushing on the pads and that is why the first pair was totally gone.
    Do you think the caliper can be repaired or should I just get a new one?

    • @seanysockets7391
      @seanysockets7391  2 года назад

      My opinion is to replace the calipers when they are having issues like that. Yes, they can be repaired or rebuilt, but sometimes its worth saving the time and just purchasing a new one. They usually arent that expensive either.

    Are the brake pads the same as the v6 and v4 ford fusion because I brought v4 brake pads by accident for my v6 ford fusion just wondering

      I honestly dont know. A quick google search will tell you. Or look up the part number on the pads.

      I'm sorry I don't remember and don't have this car anymore. A quick google search will tell you, but if I recall correctly, a regular metric set will get the job done.
