These games are literally the only reason my family still owns a PSP. I'm an adult who lives in a college dorm and I still want to play Patapon despite that PSP not being in my possession here and now. Despite being a decade old, it never died. Circa 13 years ago I had the Patapon demo installed and ground it to dust by playing through it at least 10 times, squeezing all the content it would allow from its limited scope. 12 years ago I got Patapon 2 for my birthday. I slowly power-walked through the story by abusing the broken Tatepon Hero invincibility and brute-forced my way onward with an under-leveled army until finally getting stuck on Dettankarmen, the story's final boss. I lost interest for some years. About 8 years ago I got hooked on the grind. Faced with an adversary I hadn't seen for a long time and had chalked up to immense proportions in my mind, I farmed. And farmed. And farmed. I finally destroyed the demon at the end. Only now do I realize it had taken so long because I simply didn't want the journey to end. But I wasn't done. I maxed everyone in all my squadrons. Unlocked every mask. Collected every item. Beat every boss 50 times over. At least 6 years ago my sister finally got hooked on the same grind I did. There's something so intoxicating about watching your army lay waste to everything in sight. This is why we like Patapon 2 over 3. It's so much more relaxing. The quantity of damage numbers. Building every unit in your army to maximize their performance and compensate for weaknesses. My sister saw the same thing I did. There was so little we bonded over back then, but this was one of them. 3 years ago we finally got our hands on Patapon 3. After years of mopping the floor with everything from 2, the challenge of the "new" game was foreign to us. But the farming is somehow so much more daunting a task. The number of customization options and random drops would instead have my sister and I take different approaches to our loadout even as we both played through simultaneously with the same original mindset from Patapon 2. Neither of us have completed the game yet because we're now busy and also playing other games in our free time. But somehow every family vacation for the past several years, that same pearl grey PSP comes out. Outdated. Obsolete. Seldom seen. Well-used. Never forgotten. And the hammer of drums is heard through shared earbuds in an airport or hotel somewhere once more. May it stay that way for years to come.

Burh there is a patapon Fandom ;-; I had alot of fun with these games as a kid, when my dad kept his games around he would let me play his psp and the first game that caught my eye was patapon, I spent hours on that game but unfortunately I didn't have anyone else care about that game at all except my dad who helped me keep the rhythm by tapping his guitar because i kept messing up on the rain juju. Replaying the remaster rn and I can still feel that rhythm.
The only reason I don't wanna play Patapon again is because I do not think I can handle the emotional storm I might experience and that is exactly why I am digging my PSP out from the closet. Also your vid became popular among the Patapon Community which lead me here! You my dude got everything right (especially the Sons of Pitches, that was pure cringe) and my love for Patapon is my reason as to why I am pissed at the Remastered Versions (looking at you, you buggy mess and low resolution cutscenes). (Speaking of unconventional rhythm games, have you heard to No Straight Roads?)
Still waiting on my patapon 3 remaster for my trophies! XD I really loved the evolution tree in 2, almost gave the game a pokemon collection/upgrade type vibe

I really hope content like yours helps more people find out about amazing games like this! ^^
God I loved patapon 1 and 2 so much as a kid, played both at least 4 times over and I will never forget about how great the minigames were. I only played a bit of patapon 3 and was kinda weirded out by the limited army size, as I was more in love with rpg unit management sim portion of the game than the single hero type stuff, but still I think if I played it fully I would like it a lot. Great game series, 3 needs remastered so I can play it for real this time.

I can't believe it, a video about patapon that has more views than dubs in the channel
That's one of the things i like about being from Poland,
Patapon series there was BIG BOOM, i think it's one of the most praised old games.
Even madwig is from poland xD
4:30 bro was living in 2023 back in 2020. but hes right about that intro
I grew up on Patapon, its a shame so manny never played it
I have been playing patapon for 6 years and I still play that masterpiece
Thank you for making this video
The guy with the cannon is honestly more OP than Todenga. I remember the satisfaction of just blasting the final boss with one shot from the cannon dude
Burh there is a patapon Fandom ;-;
I had alot of fun with these games as a kid, when my dad kept his games around he would let me play his psp and the first game that caught my eye was patapon, I spent hours on that game but unfortunately I didn't have anyone else care about that game at all except my dad who helped me keep the rhythm by tapping his guitar because i kept messing up on the rain juju. Replaying the remaster rn and I can still feel that rhythm.
Woo-foo-fah-nah
Say it after me
Wu...ffu...fa...na?
Wait wasn't it Wuffunffa
Wouldn't it be Woo-foon-fah?
I always said it wuh-fuf-nuh
Sucks that will never get a new game cuz Sony shut down Japan Studio
Very cool review, especially the montage
I mean, i think after having played it for 2.5k hours I know what the game is but thank you youtube, great vid!
Yes!!!!!! For almost 5 years I played it since then
Bro this game has been my jam for years.
PATA! PON! DON! CHAKA!
Me: Dances
I didn't even know it was underrated, it was so good that I assumed it was very popular among the PlayStation community. Man
I love this game because you actually have to do something other than memorise
I never had a PSP, but modding my old ass fuckin Vita to play this cute fuckin game 🖤👁🗨
Still waiting on my patapon 3 remaster for my trophies! XD I really loved the evolution tree in 2, almost gave the game a pokemon collection/upgrade type vibe
You didnt have to call out us todenga mains like that
It's now 2021 and patapon 3 is still the amazing rhythm game
Honestly is the funniest thing to me. I thought the trilogy (or at least the 3rd game) was one of the more well-known Sony franchises, especially considering the remasters.
...but damn was I _incredibly_ wrong. I really hope content like yours helps more people find out about amazing games like this! ^^
Glad i was one of the lucky ones who actually played this unknown gem back then
God I loved patapon 1 and 2 so much as a kid, played both at least 4 times over and I will never forget about how great the minigames were.
