Another thing I always figured was that Pucci’s speed isn’t just a flat infinite speed, but rather that it’s tied to his acceleration of time, where the faster time is, the faster he is. So, Pucci’s max speed is theoretically infinite, but at any given point, it is both finite and calculable.

His ability is actually so simple it's crazy how people get this messed up. Pucci just accelerates time, that is his ability. He maintains 100% awareness of the time being sped up, just like DIO has 100% awareness of the time that is stopped. For Pucci, humans look slowed down to a crawl, but objects are moving at "normal" speed from Pucci's point of view, because everything that is non-living is accelerating *with* him. So while to Pucci, who is running at 12 miles per hour, it looks like we are at a standstill, but to us like he is moving at millions of times the speed of sound. Because he accelerated time millions of magnitudes above its normal flow. Simple as.

For the 2 times Pucci is hit they can be explained by reasons other than his perception of things is slow. For the knife since it is an inanimate object it moves at the same speed Pucci is. This would be insanely hard to react to since at that time Pucci is moving so much faster than normal. When Pucci is hit by weather report the oxygen is spreading throughout his body much faster than it would normally causing him to experience oxygen poison at a quicker rate than Emporio. Another important part of Pucci's speed is that it takes time for him to accelerate and he doesn't go from 0 to infinite in 3.5. Pucci's speed matches the speed of the universe and as we see throughout the final battle time goes faster and faster until the universe resets. This means that when Pucci uses Made In Heaven's ability against Emporio at the end he is much slower than when he killed Jotaro and the gang.

    My answers to those questions:
-Pucci's infinite speed means infinite potential. Whether Pucci is moving normally or at the speed of light (pun intended), he could always move faster given enough "time".
-Pucci has the reflexes of a statue because if he watched the world at 1 30th or even 1 120th of its regular speed, he'd most likely fall asleep of boredom. Also, sending a message while talking 120 times as fast as a normal human isn't very productive.
-In the case of Jolyne throwing a knife at Pucci... everything was accelerated. The knife... was accelerated. The attention span of the community... was accelerated.

@@YSleepish I don't think time dilation plays a role here, because it's based on Einstein's relativity theory, which says: "The faster something moves through space, the slower it moves through time." Pucci was accelerated along with the universe, so he was affected by time dilation as much as you are while you read this reply. Everyone else moved extremely fast through time, so compared to Pucci, they moved extremely slow through space or compared to them, Pucci moved extremely fast through space. In short: time dilation makes Pucci fast, and we saw him really fast during the fight. Conclusion: Time dilation was always active, it just was in the background and didn't really matter. And now we're back at Pucci percieving one second as two minutes and waiting an eternity for something to happen. On top of the argument I've seen about the knife being affected by the time acceleration, causing it to move at normal knife speed for Pucci but much faster than humans could react to, we also have to remember that the infinite speed is really just potentially infinite speed. Pucci moves so fast because he's affected by his time acceleration, since he can accelerate time infinitely he could reach infinite speed, the issue is that in the process of moving at infinite speed he would have to accelerate the universe again and likely cause it to reset over and over again. In a vs battle the only issue would be getting it moving, as it seems that he would take time to reach his infinite speed but he would be able to keep fighting his opponent across new universes. The reason he didn't do that in the series is obviously because he only wanted to reset the universe once, so he didn't want to accelerate time to kill Emporio when he thought he could do it just fine normally anyway.

as some other folks have said. Pucci's speed isn't because he's fast. it's because he is the only person affected by the acceleration. everyone else moves at "normal" speed, but as the universe moves faster, pucci moves faster along with it. so when Jolyne throws the knife, she's moving really slow compared to Pucci, but the moment she releases it, it moves at the super speed her stand could throw accelerated to proportionally match the time acceleration.. We see this in the display on that television show scene earlier on. the guy is holding the glass, but the moment he releases it, it now moves with accelerated time, seeming to instantly hit the ground and shatter before anyone can realize it. To dodge the bullets, he had to read and predict the trajectory of the bullet before it was fired, because the moment it exited the barrel, it would match the speed of the time accel. rather than Emporio's speed. It's the same reason Jotaro's time stop gets "shorter" because the phenomena of time stopping, is still aligned with the acceleration. it's the only way Jotaro can move in stopped time is if the Time stop had it's own form of time flow. which is also accelerated. This means that King Crimson's time skip would be "shorter". One could argue that even Bites The Dust could be affected and rewind less, as time would be accelerating that by the time the rewind finished, a chunk of what would have been rewound had already moved forward again. However I am of the mindset that this would not happen, as it would actually disable and undo the time acceleration. One interesting point to note however with bites the dust, is that it also behaves the same as the jump to the new universe. as the person who discovered Kira's identity becomes fated to explode at the same time after the rewind occurs. much like how everyone who made it to the new universe is fated to do everything they would have done in the original universe.

Pucci doesn't necessarily move really fast, he just makes everyone else really slow. MIH accelerates time, making it so that Pucci is the only one who can move within said accelerated time. Everybody else experiences time as it is being accelerated. The knife that Jolyne threw was unaffected by time acceleration due to being an inanimate object, making it move really fast in Jolyne's perspective but normal knife-throwing speed to Pucci, meaning he got hit. Im not sure about Emporio, but I'm pretty sure the gas he was spreading with Weather Report was unaffected by accelerating time for the same reasons as the knife, making it spread faster and giving Pucci less time to react. I'm not sure about any of this so correct me if I'm wrong.

What people fail to understand is that Pucci's ability isn't even slightly related to SPEED. It's GRAVITY, and always has been. When he achieves Made in Heaven he says "The power of gravity is compelted." or something along those lines, he's using the gravity of the entire universe to accelerate time up until it reaches a GRAVITATIONAL singularity. The acceleration is just a result of wibbly-wobbly gravity stuff.

Not only is Pucci wounded and tired while chasing Emporio, the universe isn't accelerating at the rate it was before. It reached the point where it reset to pre-accelaration thus Pucci is not longer moving at an infinitely acceleration speed. Thus his pace in chasing Emporio is Pucci being careful and conserving what energy he has and because he cannot chase him at the speed he was chasing pre reset. Pre-reset Pucci's perception was normal as far as he was concerned, all living things were still moving at their normal pace, but everyone else's perception was lacking because the world around them was accelerating so quickly. When Pucci was hit with the knife, it's as easy as understanding that Pucci could tell Jolyne had thrown the knife, but as soon as the knife was no longer held back by her pace it came flying at him at that accelerated pace. He did try to dodge, but since his acceleration is the same rate as the knife it was a little too late to fully avoid.

Now add on how Pucci is probably also splitting his ability between himself and the universe.
Think about it; if Pucci's time was synced with the universe, he would be able to blitz everyone but die of old age mid-fight.
So, Pucci focuses half of his ability on the universe, and the other half on only himself relative to normal people.
That means Pucci HAS to be vigilant of the environment changing, or he then has to spend more time dodging obstacles instead of his mission.

    • @jessiehogue.
      @jessiehogue. Год назад

Stand stats are for Stands and not the user, true, but that is irrelevant to Pucci's speed.
The enhancement he gets from it is the time acceleration ability itself, that's the thing. The way his power is stated to work is that he accelerates time for everything else except other living beings, as in, anyone else but himself. He is accelerated along with everything else. Therefore his speed enhancement = the acceleration.
So it doesn't matter that the stat is based on the ability; it still affects Pucci's resulting own acceleration at the exact same level. The reason he is still able to be hit is that once thrown, objects no longer in contact with living beings accelerate as well to the same degree, so he is no longer fast in relation to those, and as such it isn't any easier for him to dodge them as it is for anyone else you'd toss, say, a knife at.

My take on speedsters, and really cases like the Flash and Pucci is really similar to this. People are always complaining "they should be able to react to this" or "the writers really nerf the characters" or "they can think faster than light, it makes no sense for them to not be the strongest".
And 9 times out of 10, the situation involves someone whose speed is active/conditional getting caught by surprise. Infinite movement speed doesn't mean infinite perception. That's why Pucci gets tagged with a knife, that's why Deadshot can put a sniper round through the Flash's leg. Even if you can dodge a hit with infinite speed, you can't dodge shit if you don't even know you should be dodging something.
On the other hand someone like Spiderman would never get hit by a surprise attack like these, because his spider-sense is explicitly warning him about imminent threats of any kind. Even without super speed he can dodge point-blank gunshots not because he's faster than the bullet, but because he gets out of the way before the bullet is even shot. GER would fall under that category I believe, preventing an attack before it has been enacted.

That's a good theory actually, Pucci isn't the most physical person so it tracks he would get winded and eventually tired from experiencing the time/speed acceleration himself.
In stark contrast you then have Dio, who is strong(albeit from inhuman means) and Jotero gets lumped in here too, both of them are physically strong maybe equal so to their stands, the same way that polnerif is himself a sword master, but also so is his stand. In fact when Jotero got reverted back to his child self he still ora ora ora'd the guy to near death, so Jotero was not weak, he had some strength himself.
So the human limits, feats and skills of the users really does need to be pulled into question when discussing stand strength, because stand stats really are just the stands stats, not the users.
And thus does not mean those stats one to one confer to the user too.(unless its a stand you can fuse/hide in your body for example, maybe then it would? but that's a different thing to address separate to user limits, skills and feats.)

An opposite of Girono's mind acceleration.
Because (To my memory) Gold Experience speeds up peoples minds, right? Makes them think faster then their body moves.
But, with Pucci and MIH, its the opposite.
Pucci's mind CAN'T perceive everything relative to the speed his body is moving at.
If I remember (I haven't looked at part 6 in a while, forgive me.)
All the attacks from the crew, were PLANNED with Pucci's speed in mind, aiming ahead. (I think)
Therefore, if we assume his perception and reflexes aren't sped up accordingly, he couldn't have time to process and react.

I mean Pucci knew that Emporio was fated to repeat his actions from what happened in the prior universe. He found himself to be in no apparent threat and was simply screwing with him, as he was explaining to Emporio the fate that was predisposed for him. He found himself to be victorious by this point since Emporio was “stuck” in his fated actions and so was just chasing him until he “inevitably” finished him off for good. Also, he didn’t want to accelerate past a certain point to where there could be some point where Emporio’s escape would be a risk; keeping him in the prison ensures that Pucci can follow him to his fated destination in a “controlled” environment. However, obviously this ended up being out of his control as fate worked against him, changing in favor of Emporio and the Joestar will. Also, some other people have explained the parts where Pucci gets hit or caught off guard and pretty much all of the notable points involve inanimate objects which are also being accelerated alongside the rest of the universe, while he’s caught off guard, and also having increased acceleration from being projected (I.E. the knife had an initial force from Stone Free’s arm which is negligible on its own, however it’s then accelerated at a speed scalable to Pucci himself and the rest of the universe since it’s nonliving living). Another example would be Pucci trying to catch Emporio and Jolyne (initially) on the dolphin, however the dolphin is also being accelerated by the ocean’s current which allows them keep ahead of Pucci whilst the current is moving at an accelerated speed like Pucci himself. It’s possible that people forget that it’s not just Pucci himself that is accelerating, but also the rest of the universe that is most nonliving, which is what is consistently shown in the parts where Enrico is caught off guard. Even in Pucci’s defeat, Weather Report‘s oxygen purification had taken hold and took an effect on his body at an accelerated rate scaling to himself since it’s not just Pucci that’s moving fast, but most of the universe as well.

Speaking of speed, y'know something that's bugged me for a while? It seems like a LOT of Stands' speed stats are based off of a single thing: Silver Chariot vs Hanged Man. Hanged Man was one of the few times in JoJo's we got an actual real world metric to compare to, because it's just light, so it should move at the constant speed of light. Like think about the amount of Stands whose speed stats pretty much just scale off of each other and trace back to Hanged Man, it's a ton of them. (Specifically pre universe reset). As an example, Gold Experience is slightly slower than Sticky Fingers, who is similar in speed to King Crimson, who is faster than Silver Chariot, who is faster than Hanged Man, who is Lightspeed, therefore, Gold Experience is FTL.

I think there is some sort of middle ground. I agree with the statement that the knife was moving at the high speed of the universe, but if you guys are forgetting (thank you Kaleb for putting this scene in the video or I would have forgotten) that Emporio fires his gun at Pucci, and he effortlessly dodges. If Pucci really did have perception relative to the speed of the universe, or something like that, he would have just fucking died. I know Emporio isn't some professional shooter or anything, but you can tell Pucci is moving to avoid the bullets, and if his perception were that of a normal human's, he would have just been shot. We also know Pucci is able to perceive the bullets because if he just anticipated that Emporio was going to fire the gun, but couldn't react to the bullets, he would have just moved very fast behind Emporio to avoid the risk of getting hit by any bullets.
I think that the answer can be chalked up to 2 things:
    Visual Perception
    and/or
    Fate Manipulation (Plot BS)
One theory that I came up with is that Pucci can perceive things at a very high speed, greater than that of which he is moving even. However, since he is moving relative to the universe and he was looking away from the knife when the knife hit him, if he moved his head to look toward the knife, it would have been to him as if time was normal and Jolyne threw a knife at him at normal speed when he wasn't looking. I think that since his perception appears to be faster than his ability to move at this point, since he didn't turn to look at the knife in time, it came at too fast of a speed since his body is slower than his perception. When it comes to hunting down Emporio in GDST, since time acceleration had just begun, he wasn't able to move fast enough to catch Emporio. With pushing the stand DISC into his head, his perception may scale relative but not equal to the speed of the universe or something. Or possibly fate manipulation, which I will touch on below. (All just a theory)
The Joestars have Fate Manipulation because "the side of justice and righteousness must prevail" and all that cool "duty of the Joestar lineage" stuff. So Jolyne's knife might have hit Pucci because the Joestars are fated to eventually overcome this evil yada yada. Also, Pucci may have pushed the DISC into Emporio because "the actions of the Joestars up to this point have prepared Emporio to be victorious over evil, even though the Joestars weren't presently there combating Pucci, their actions still caused Emporio to be in a winning position" or something.
Also a possibility, Ghost Objects may not be affected by time acceleration and Pucci was able to react to the bullets because they were just normal because he made the ghost of those objects from a time where time acted upon them normally. This might explain why even though Pucci was speeding up time after resetting the universe, the objects didn't fly out of Emporio's belly button or fall quicker than normal out of his hands because time was acting normally on the objects since they aren't real objects now.
ALSO, Star Platinum is faster than Stone Free and since Pucci could react to all of Star Platinum's attacks, you can't chalk this up to "Pucci having normal human perception."
Rant, concluded. Let me know if I have any errors.

With this pucci reaction time is definitely faster than without accelerated time however the objects he couldn’t dodge without being fast he still couldn’t dodge while being fast.

Super easy way to explain it would be if your playing an online game, you go up against someone who is lagging horrendously and they APPEAR to be teleporting, but to them (pucci) they are moving normally, and thus other peoples actions appear slow to pucci, but to others pucci apears fast, time is relative to the user (pucci) and everyone else has to play around that.
So recap: pucci simply percieves time as normal while everyone else percieves it as unimaginable speeds.

You can think pucci infinte speed like this. maiden heaven moves with speed of time as the time moves on the speed increase it does not end until pucci wants to end it(yes even after in singualrty point of the universe)

I crossover battle that would be interesting is pucci vs peril because if he gets close, he dies, he melts, but he never tried to throw an object at anyone in the final battle of jojo, then would the object melt and if so would it pierce peril while melted.

I thought Pucci explained that he didn’t want to accelerate time in order to not mess up his new universe or whatever meaning that he couldn’t zip around, I believe his speed depends on how much he accelerates time. Also it is said that time acceleration only affects non-biological things or objects and stone free threw a knife at pucci which is not alive so it’s force gets accelerated plus stone free’s strength so the knife is basically equivalent or a little beyond pucci’s speed and perception though I don’t understand why emporio’s bullets didn’t accelerate. Or it was because he saw it coming unlike the knife. Plus during the last standoff between Pucci and Emporio, he started zipping around the room when he said that time has been accelerated again because he was probably tired of it

I thought Pucci has atleast above light speed, but couldn't catch up to the dolphin coz the concept of breathing (speed of oxygen loss and carbon dioxide build up) kept him from going too fast to catch up to the dolphin. Evidence of him being this fast is through him dodging point blank, lightspeed star platinum punches during his death scene.

To everyone who doesn't understand made in heaven abilities.
Pucci is capable of manipulating the gravitational forces of the entire universe, his stand is an evolution of C Moon. Made in heaven is a stand based on the theory of relativity made by Einstein, which says that gravity is a distortion of the space-time.
Therefore, made in heaven is capable of manipulating the very concept of time, gradually accelerating it.
The only ones who can synchronize with this new passage of time are inanimate beings, and pucci himself. While to other people, time will seem extremely fast, to those synchronized with it, everything will seem normal. And with each moment that passes, the speed of time will increase in a multiplicative principle, if pucci traveled at a speed of 10km/h, he would have the speed of a bullet train. (30 times faster than his normal speed), a car traveling at 60km/h would have a speed of 1800km/h, and a car traveling at 100km/h would have a speed of mach 2.4 (the speed of sound).
And at each moment, the multiplier will grow to infinity, increasing the speed of everything that is synchronized with accelerated time. That's why pucci can reach extreme speeds, since his base speed, which reaches a surreal number, is multiplied by a multiplier just as large. Meanwhile, the entire universe will live its life, and will die, but soon be reborn, thus creating a new universe.
Pucci can also control temporal dilation, meaning that his perception of time can be slowed down when he needs to dodge blows. normal, to talk to other people during the accelerated time. and accelerated, so he don't need to live billions of years until the end of the universe. Making this stand one of the strongest powers in fiction.
    Question 1: why he can't dodge a knife ?
The knife in question is an inanimate object, so its speed was multiplied as much as that of pucci, then, In Pucci's perception, it would be as if he had to dodge a knife thrown at him at close range, by surprise, which he was barely able to react to.

I'm pretty sure the 'infinite speed' stat just means that MiH could theoretically keep accelerating time for eternity assuming nothing impeded its progress, so in a sense there isn't a real limit to how fast he can move

If anyone else is still struggling, this is an easy way to get your head around it:
The horse can only move as fast as the cowboy lets it, and it can only go wherever he pulls the reins.
Made In Heaven has infinite speed, but Pucci does not. As a close-range Stand, it's tied to Pucci's position, so it can only close the distance as fast as a priest can. Pucci doesn't gain any speed from Made In Heaven, just like owning a horse doesn't make a cowboy inherently as fast as a horse. No matter how fast Pucci _appears_ to be moving from the audience's perspective, from _his_ perspective he's just walking around - barring people, the rest of the world moves at normal speed in his eyes.
Second, unlike Whitesnake and C-Moon before it, Made In Heaven _can't_ be assumed to have a certain level of autonomy. After evolving, Pucci had to directly command C-Moon, whereas Whitesnake could move and act without Pucci present. If the Stand's autonomy was limited again after reaching its final form, it's stands to reason that MIH can act only on Pucci's will or instinct. This means it wouldn't be able to use its infinite speed to block attacks on its own - directly evidenced when the knife Jolyne threw hit Pucci's face. The knife hit Pucci because it got accelerated the moment it left Jolyne's hand - to Pucci, it was hidden in the water, then flew up suddenly, moving as fast as a thrown knife would be moving. If MIH was autonomous, it would have blocked or deflected the knife, but since it didn't do either of those, we can assume it _can't_. Another piece of evidence is that time Pucci was crumpling from oxygen toxicity in Emporio's ghost room and MIH just kind of... _let_ Weather Report beat the shit out of him. Autonomous Stands like Echoes Act 3 or GER would not let that happen, but since MIH does, we can assume its actions are directly tied to Pucci's commands.
What it boils down to is that Made In Heaven _does theoretically_ have infinite speed, but because of Pucci's ties to it, it's limited to moving at a pedestrian's speed and acting at the speed of thought. This is why "Pucci Vs. speedster" fights, 9 times out of 10, go to the speedster - MIH's time acceleration is exponential, so it doesn't immediately nullify the speedster's powers, and Pucci's human reaction time is too slow to stop Sonic the Hedgehog from running up and spin-dashing a hole through his chest.
(Also don't ask me how Pucci survived even 20 minutes from the audience's perspective because if time really was accelerating that fast he'd die from old age _WELL BEFORE_ the universe resets, or at the VERY LEAST he would have reached the "eventually he stopped thinking" threshold. I mean, think about it - from your perspective, time's moving completely normal, but _EVERYONE ON EARTH_ is moving at a rate of 0.00001Fps, which makes them near impossible to communicate with, and they're all constantly slowing down further and further until you have to personally observe the collapse and rebirth of the universe.)

The only reason he gets so fast is due to the infinite acceleration... unless that is activated, then he doesn't get the super speed boost... your right to say that he isn't all that fast himself but rather his ability can make him fast... (Also, he didn't activate his ability while chasing after Emporio because in his mind, if the kid got away once... it could happen again... The safest thing to do is not to accelerate time until I know he's dead)

Its all about relative velocity. Pucci is able to move at the speed of the universe, although others move at their normal speed in the environment within the universe moving at higher speeds. To Pucci, he has infinite speed, even though he is still human. In the perspective of the universe, time is essentially sped up, meaning if something such as the knife was to move at a constant velocity towards Pucci, it would take 2 seconds. Although under the effects of Made In Heaven, that time is infinitely shorter due to the acceleration of time. This means that even though Pucci has the ability to move at the speed of the universe, the knife did as well. That is why the knife didnt take his head off, only cutting him, also why he could not react in time. As to Pucci the knife and him are moving at the same effective speed, as if it was without the time acceleration at all. Basically Jolyne threw a knife at Pucci and he couldn't react in time, thanks for coming to my TED talk.

What I think is Pucci’s ability is like is the function in idle games where you click on an acceleration ability and makes everything faster at will. When pucci uses made in heaven, not only is HE getting faster, but the environment is getting faster by default as well as he is going. Which means, technically, this ability is kind of balanced to an extent. Pucci has a lot of speed (no shit), but the moment he does some stupid mistake like landing into someone’s fist or accidentally accelerating a knife, he WILL suffer the consequences. And he doesn’t have enough reaction time to deal with shit like that. And he will get inflicted by damage much more than the attacker expects. He has a lot of dodging potential. But weather report absolutely has the most creative counter to him. And to explain it, it’s like saying,
Going super speed will make you almost invulnerable to getting hit by attacks but the moment you crash into a train you are done for.
    Or maybe,
Goku has ultra instinct right? But can he dodge a nuke?
Weather report has the ability to affect the area around him, and he just poisons the air with pure oxygen. Puccis ability does nothing to counter it, because even though you would think he can accelerate time to fucking run from the attack, all he does is accelerate the poisons deadliness. Meaning that sometimes, puccis ability is a blurse.
Sometimes you would think super speed would be cool but imagine you slip on ice and you accelerate into the cosmos 😂😂😂
