How to load a Flintlock Muzzleloader

  • A close up video of the loading procedure for a flintlock muzzleloader. The rifle is a Traditions Deerhunter shooting a .490 lead ball with a lubed patch and ~65 grains of Goex black powder. Sorry if my hand gets in the way at all.

    two questions, one, can this use powder pellets? and two, can this use the .50 cal sabots? I think they're called? bullets that I use in my .50 cal CVA black powder gun. I know pellets won't work for the pan, but for the actual charge.

      Yep, I use pyrodex with it every now and then so I'm sure their pellets would work fine. Also yes to the saboted bullets, the starter kit for the rifle actually came with 15, I just prefer patched round balls because they ram down much easier than the plastic sabot. On a side note, if you buy this rifle make sure to get the real wood stock, balances the rifle much better.

    Great video man! What type of powder were you using and what was your charge?
