At 6:03, when Noémie said she missed some of this sensations while looking at Adéle, i felt a tinge of regret. Much like the way she said to remember in the movie itself. There's something more in there if i can be delusional about it.
I love the way Noémie mispronounces certain English words, like envy. It makes me think that she reads them, or knows them through writing rather than hearing them through conversation.
I rather think she gives a shot if a word in french that sounds similar is the same in english. "Envie" exists in french and it means "desire". I undertstand her cause I do the same procedure spanish to french XD.
I had my oral exam for the DALF C1 (French certificate), and I can honestly say I feel them. Being forced to express yourself in a language that’s not yours can be really frustrating because there are things you wanna say, but you just don’t know how. It’s like your brain can formulate deep thoughts as an adult would do, but you have the capacity of expression of a child 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know, but it doesn’t feel good at all
This is soo true!! I‘ve always had this feeling. I live in Geneva, a french speaking city, and my french is also C1 level, but still I always feel so young and immature when I speak french, and I never realized why... so thanks for this comment!:) Nevertheless, being able to speak other languages is wonderful as well as useful, as it opens up so many possibilities and opportunities. I wouldn’t give it up for the world.
@@marinamuller2385 Yeah, me neither. I'm so happy I get to learn about other people's cultures as well through a language. And it feels pretty great when you travel to be able to speak someone else's language. I also love that I can watch some movies and series in their original language, cuz there are so many lines that turn out differently when translated in Italian
7:30 the Bechdel Test, is a measure of the representation of women in fiction. It asks whether a work features at least two women who talk to each other about something other than a man.
I think for several reasons 1. Adele has generally more fame since she started her acting young and won several v big awards 2. She and Celine the director shot a first lesbian movie Water Lilies in 2007 and they had a long term relationship (broke up before shooting this movie tho), and that’s why they talk a lot about each other how they collaborate and create 3. The fact that Adele didn’t even go to audition and got the role meaning that Celine knows who to play it at the v beginning (they really trust each other) and they only met at the shooting; in another interview Noemie said “i was nervous when she first met them because I know Adele is a very good actor and she’s v intense.”
You probably won't have to wait much longer. Noemie looks gayer and gayer, they now apparently wear matching outfits and in one of the last screenings, they were holding hands a little (and Noémie kept looking at Adele). I'd be damned if they had never slept with each other by now, but if they will ever reveal it is another question.
@@izzyfox7575 She was and they split up is the last thing I've heard. Also, Noémie is married and her mannerisms and all seem pretty straight 😅 but it's nice to dream, isn't it?
No offence but it might be better to conduct the interviews in French or at least with a translator. They seem to be really struggling when speaking English.

When you are in Western Europe, it’s not so difficult to find ppl who speak English quite competently. At least I found that to be so in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia. Not so much in southern Italy though. In fact, I had to learn a basic level of Italian to manage since I was there for awhile.
I speculate that she picked it up due to living in or around Paris which is very diverse and multicultural. IIRC she grew up in a suburb of Paris and her dad is literally a translator. Also, because she speaks fluent French and some German, she is probably skilled at learning languages.
Up until now, it is the best gay film I’ve ever seen. But be honest, didn’t you guy sense that Noémie was to straight while watching the movie? And obviously she is straight and having a husband or engaged with a man. So yeah, I was crushed by the news, and I want to drag all of you down with me. Haha
No, I thought Noemie was perfect for the movie. In fact, I find it hard to believe that she's NOT gay. I'm surprised that you and other people are saying that she has a boyfriend or husband. If she's "straight," she's an even better actor than I thought, because the scenes in the movie looked and "felt" REAL, to me. Maybe she just hasn't had the courage to "come out" yet. She and Adele would make a great couple.
Sharon Taylor I might agree with you that she kinda looked like someone who yet to came out. I thought about that too but it didn’t really fit Céline’s vision for this movie. How I perceive this film is that it’s in the world where there is no need to come out. A person can love whoever they want. The main character’s problem is that she has to take responsibility for her family since they’re about to out of money. So the only convincing way to me to explain Noémie’s characters’ awkwardness and resistance is that she knew she was doing the wrong thing by having a relation with an engaged woman. Though if this is true, I wonder why they didn’t just run off. Oh well correct me if I’m wrong.
Adèle is such a treasure .
