If your shirt tells the person interrupting your operations what's going on, then you don't have to. I like that! Also, 30 decades? This company has been doing its thang for nearly 300 years! Impressive!
I spent several hours laying out the memory/bank groupings and importing stuff from repeater book. It's a lot of work. I still need to group repeaters by highway.

I don't know why John gets so hung up on the "false names" attached to suggestions. He seems to mention this constantly. Either the suggestion is good or it isn't. What cares who submitted it? Are they going to pay us?
The bottom plastic on the FT3D proved too thin to survive a fall onto my kitchen floor. The rubber coating on the FT5D and the improved audio seem worthy upgrades. I'm less convinced about the removal of visual scanning. 73 de KN6NPZ
Hams have been pretty good historically about self regulating (I think). With this RF exposure issue wouldn't it be great if enough interested Hams were interested enough to work together and do a study to show what actual exposure we are experiencing? I'm pretty sure it has been demonstrated that RF radiation of the nature most hams experience isn't dangerous, but more research wouldn't hurt either.
I am looking for a radio that has reliable and functional hands free Bluetooth capability for paragliding. Anyone have a radio who could comment on how well the Bluetooth works on the FT5DR?
Hey Josh, what would be a good HT that has easy scanning of various frequencies? Say I want to scan FRS, then VHF, then UHF, maritime, and so forth. Looking for something that is a good HT for speaking but also easy for scanning multiple frequencies. Thanks!
SD cards gave me a little trouble using one of the many sandisk 32gb cards I’ve had for my raspberry pi’s. Format them fat32 master boot record seems to be the key. This is on my ft5dr

I still pick Yaesu radios based on their merits, but a lot of the things John is saying make him sound like a marketing department apologist. All I hear when they say "can't fit in firmware" is that Yaesu got a good deal on a cargo ship worth of 2000s-era eeprom, and intend on using them all up to save a few pennies per radio. A number of customer complaints they try to sell as features don't make any sense as anything but engineering mistakes they didn't feel like fixing post-prototype. They come real close to making perfect radios, and only manage to get away with these things because nobody else is doing better.

Hello this rubber coating is rubbish. My ft5 felt from 1m and broke. It’s only look strong but it is like in all radio
Just came from HRO in Anaheim, California and was told that the FT5DR was made out of the same material as a Glock

Funny how he mentions people wanted banks on the FTM-400. Three new C4FM mobile radios have been introduced since then. All WITHOUT banks.

check out the Wouxun KG-1000G GMRS Base/Mobile Two Way Radio.... Lots of HAM stuff on it. Lots of extras on it, even GMRS repeaters.
Best way to solve that jealousy, come to this side of Radio! Exams are easy and the Advantages are amazing!
