I spent all of 2024 listening to the Realm of the Elderlings on your recommendation and I just finished in December! I really loved them! When you finish I recommend reading some of the accompanying short stories - I especially liked Homecoming and The Willful Princess and the Piebald Prince. I'd be happy to talk about the books with you (I don't know anyone who's read them either) - over text or in person (I live in Boulder)
I absolutely love petite knit patterns and never understand the apologies given before showing them. Her patterns are amazing and the astatic is fantastic! ❤ I'm glad I found your channel!
Awwww thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you found my channel! Her patterns are truly amazing - I was apologizing more for the fact that she was essentially the only designer I was showing and I do think diversity is important and probably more interesting content. BUT I also spend so much time invested in my sweaters that I want to make what I love and I love PetiteKnit!
Well congrats on being able to find that sliver of a window to create an episode. You are amazing and thanks for sharing. Knitting for me comes first and foremost but it's lovely to hear and see everything you've been working on. Your daughter is so big now, can't believe how much. I still remember the flying- puking-baby incident and the look on your husband's face. It's lovely to hear how much joy your making brings you ❤. Please do relax and continue to enjoy.
Welcome back!! Please don't apologize for the things you didn't do, your vlogs are super interesting and fun to watch. Your life seems so unbelievably full it's impressive that you do all of these things and carry on an intense professional career. I enjoy all parts of the vlog, but always love the books talk which is unique to your podcast.
Aw, thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy the books talk, it's definitely one of my favorite parts! Are you reading anything good right now? Appreciate you coming back after all this time!
@@SONDERknit I just finished Long Island (Colm Toibin) and Enlightenment (Sarah Perry). Both were very interesting. I am also listening to Gone with the Wind, which is remarkable. The reader on Audible is super fantastic and really adds to the already incredible story. I am going to give the Realm of the Elderlings a go. I've only read a few fantasy books but did enjoy them. Your enthusiasm is contagious! I'm also living in Colorado, in the mountains outside Boulder. Windy and freezing cold here today too. Not that I'm not totally enthralled with your knits😉
Glad you are back! After your recommendation I need to borrow the first book from Robin Hobb’s series. I do not read at all as I became adult - everything I started to read I gave up… but hey, as teenager I liked Harry Potter, Twilight 😅 maybe fantasy is something I should stick to. I am huge fan of your Christmas tree ornaments - definitely need the ketchup one (as my toddler and her dad are the biggest fans of the sauce on the world). Cheers from Poland!
LisaR- Great catch up ! Your making inspires me to get back to sewing . I keep putting it off 😅I'd become very skilled over a long time & fear I'll have lost the Knowledge ..only one way to find out ! Also , I appreciate your book recommendations. I literally just downloaded the audiobook Tomorrow & tomorrow... yesterday & finished Demon Copperhead today - agree with your review 👍👍Enjoy these snow days with little one , they'll be like no others ;)
Oh let me know what you think of Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow - I'm almost done and loving it! You should totally just jump in and start sewing - the new patterns have a lot of detail and really walk you through all the steps! You can do t!
So happy to see you in my feed, Maggie! No worries about your year off. I mean, you are providing free content and you do have a life. Could not agree more about the audio version of Lincoln in the Bardo. Best book I’ve ever listened to, I think.
I am so glad , 😌,just human! Yeah, don’t worry, I wonder sometimes how some do so much with their lives, and it makes me feel inadequate, so thanks for just being real!🎉
So so lovely to see you again. I thought of you often during ‘24 and hoped you were doing well. I figured you were super busy. Glad to hear all is well with you. I’m a fantasy fan as well. I listen to books while I knit so I’ve been through quite a few authors. I’m currently listening to Raymond E Feist - Mistress of the Empire. But some others I love are Scott Lynch-Lies of Locke Lamora / Shirtaloon-He Who Fights with Monsters / Brandon Sanderson / Patrick Rothfuss / Sarah J Maas and of course Robin Hobb !!! I so agree with you about the Farseer and Liveship series. I read them years ago and loved them but now I’ve listened to them all twice. Thank you so much for reminding me that there are still a few I haven’t forgotten to yet. Sometimes I lose track of all the different fantasy series. I’m always on the hunt for a new one. I’m still knitting mostly socks and blankets. Here in LA there isn’t much need for sweaters and mittens!!! We finally got our first rain of the season. Praying for a few more storms. I enjoy you very much. I’m up for anything you care to chat about. I don’t listen to the news or social media any more so it’s always a joy just to hear a normal compassionate person chatting about normal things. Wishing you all the best.
Awww thank you so much for your kind words, and thank you for sticking with me while I was away! So many great recommendations, I love Patrick Rothfuss - I have a tattoo from his books on my arm! Still need to get to Brandon Sanderson, but I have heard I will love his writing. Definitely keep going with the realm of the elderlings, I’m reading the last book right now and it might be my favorite of all!
Wow, welcome back! Glad the algorithm brought you back into my feed. Just finished Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. Will look into the fantasy suggestions
@ I loved the first trilogy. I got turned off by Ship of Magic because I listened to the audiobook and cannot stand the narrator! So I need to go back and read it instead. I just need to have the right type of knitting project so I can read on my iPad while knitting.
So awesome to see you're back!! Seeing all the socks you knit has inspired me to get started on a new pair for myself. And all the book recs!! My reading list will now have some additions :)
Ahhhhhh! This brings me so much JOY! The second trilogy is veryyyyy different from the first and is multi-point of view but it might be my favorite. Once I got into it I COULD NOT STOP! Let me know what you think!
Maggieeee! My soul lit up when I saw you post a video 😍 I love everything you’ve been working on. I also joined sock squad so it’s fun seeing your version of knitting it ☺️ also I appreciate the book talk at the end. I think I’m going to start the Realm of the Elderlings next!
Awwww Ana you are so kindddd! I feel bad it is all PetiteKnit, but her knits are just CALLING ME! haha Let me know if you start the realm of the elderlings - so so sooooooo good
Nice to see you back, enjoyed the podcast with all your knits and sewing projects. Watching from the Rocky Mtns. British Columbia Canada. It’s pretty cold here as well. I’ve jumped down the G ones of Grimblewood rabbit as I await some some wool to finish a cardigan.
I’m so glad to watch your new episode Maggie. I read the Live Ship trilogy after you recommended them. I loved them and now look forward to reading the other books. I joined the FDF sock squad this year too.
Oh my gosh so so soooo amazing! That trilogy is my second favorite in the whole series! Let me know how you like the other books. I hope you are enjoying your FDF club! I’m going to try my best to knit them each month!
So happy to "catch up"! I now want to knit all the patterned socks. I bought the Assassin's Apprentice at the end of last year and plan on reading it this year. I'm not sure if I'm prepared for the journey but I can't wait!
Yay!!! Let me say it again, please don’t apologize for being away. I’m just so pleased you are back 💋😊. You may have rekindled my sock knitting mojo! You’ve been busy with knitting and life!
Wow, this was such a lovely surprise to find you back! I have very much missed seeing you around and thought about reaching out wondering how you were doing! I hope you got to feel that you were able to resurface after finishing medical residency (it really is a lot, isn't it!) and hope you're enjoying being an attending. And by the way, I'm still really happy you started the KAL even if you did abandon it, as it gave me the incentive to finally knit a Lucky Pieces, which I had been planning but postponing for a long time, and it was such an enjoyable knit!
Awww thank you so much for your kind words! So happy it gave you the push to knit that - so glad you enjoyed it! Still feel bad for failing at that KAL but was so fun to see everyone’s beautiful projects!
Oh my gosh! Love your energy!! I just made the Doble Tofler (however you say that) slippers for my brother and his wife too!! I desperately want a pair but my knitting is taking me elsewhere! Maybe in the fall!
Fun episode! I'm glad i found your channel! Loved hearing about your sewing❤. Ive made the myosotis and the Melilot and while I love the fit the collars on both gave me fits!! Would love to hear your plans. Have a nice week!
So excited to have found your channel! We share many of the same interests. We have just bought a home in Denver. I would love to know what some of your crafty haunts are there!
How exciting!!! Denver is a great city - my favorite yarn store is the tangled ball in Edgewater Marketplace! I live in the highlands so am usually found at the coffee shops in those neighborhoods!
The beginning and the ending are beautifully written. It’s about young people who are video game designers, but really it’s about true friendships, changes, and adjustments to friendships based on what life throws at you. I listened to the audiobook.
Used to read all the tine, and then just… didn’t. So not a lot in mind I’m afraid. But if you haven’t already read it I would recommend Elizabeth Gilberts ’Big Msgic’ + am hearing good things about Sally Rooney ’Intermezzo’… so that may be in a possible future
Life has been pretty crazy - but I'm so so happy to be back! 😊 thank you for noticing I was gone and for sticking with me through the craziness that is life!
i was literally in the middle of picking up stitches for a project thinking about how much i hate it when you mentioned hating it. i hate it too!! for all knitters complain about purling and weaving in ends this is so much more annoying for me

Awwwww thank you! I get so much inspiration from you - what an amazingly creative maker you are! I may need to pick up this octopus book!!
Welcome back!!! Was so excited to see you pop up in my feed ❤
Yay! Thank you!

Oh so fun! I’m about to leave to ski eldora and one of my best friends lives in coal creek canyon - so beautiful up there!
