Avendo tempo, è interessante vedere di seguito le quattro "Finali" dell'Ajax: da quella persa nel 69 contro il Milan 1-4; a quella vinta nel 71 contro il Panathinaikos 2-0; a quella vinta nel 72 contro l'Inter 2-0; infine, questa gara contro la Juventus. Si vede l'evoluzione di una squadra imperniata su Crujiff, e di giovani fatti esordire senza timore. Tutto ciò, sotto due allenatori diversi: le prime due gare, sotto la guida di Rinus Michels: con gioco innovativo e spettacolare! La ultime due gare, sotto la guida dell'anziano giramondo Stephan Kovacs: capace di fare risultato con poco sforzo; ma rispettando le linee guida del suo predecessore.

Tem que se diferençar entre clube e seleção. Este Ajax é um dos melhores CLUBES da história em parte por causa da sua regularidade: tri em Europa é luxo (1971-1973). Além disso, Cruijff, Neeskens, Haan, Rep e Krol são alguns dos melhores futebolistas do mundo naquela época.

Unfortunately the Super Ajax side was not on display in any of their 3 European Cup victories. In 1971 they were only content to win the trophy and didn't come out to attack as they were scared of being caught on the break. In 1972 Inter Milan spoiled the game with their defensive tactics and here Ajax were happy to sit back and stroll after Rep's early goal. Once again Cruyff disappearing into midfield and contributing little himself except telling others what to do. This sort of play would see the Dutch come spectacularly unstuck on 7th July 1974 in Munich.
