    The creators of Scavengers Reign held a Reddit AMA today, and I asked them about this. Sadly, they debunked my theory and confirmed that it really was just a hallucination, but I'm glad to have had the opportunity to ask them questions about the show :)

    I also asked them about the potential artbook, and they said they're still working on it and that the plan is to release one!

      It was a really interesting theory! The points you discussed made a lot of sense. I hope they explore Ursula´s past and memories in a future season.

    My opinion:
    The spores dispersed and inhaled by Ursula caused her to hallucinate.

    I feel like all the things she "knew" are just things she learned by observing the planet. Plus, maybe the lighting is the same because the writers just wanted to shock the viewers.

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  8 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, that's why I didn't touch upon the things she "knew" that much and mainly focused on how the environment reacts to her vs Sam.
      And yeah, the lighting could've been for shock value. It certainly was very shocking 😅

    I feel like the fungus didn't copy the whole body but perhaps just the brain/consciousness. Which would explain why there's no "real" body left. It would also explain the "hallucination" as part of Ursula dying and the "wake up" part as the fungus "copy" taking control of the body and whatever memories it was able to access (recent experiences and knowledge).
    To me something doesn't add up tho and its the fact that there should be "fungal copies" of the other humans we see who were infected. Or shouldn't there be?.
    I would also go as far as to say that Ursula's knowledge of the planet was remarcable even before this incident. I don't think it was Sam's idea to use either the masks, de light-up things, or the blow up fishes.
    One last thing is the fact that the fungus copied Ursula's face without the "mask". If we think the fungus can see, how was it able to see the half (or more) of her face which was covered. Either way it also imitated her voice so we can only guess here.
    ...I would like for her to not be infected.
    I watched it a few months ago tho so I might be missing some details).

      Perhaps it takes a while for the fungus to perfectly copy a species. We saw dead bodies in that cave, and that human-shaped fungus face thing. Maybe those were its previous attempts, and Ursula was the first human it got right.

      @@RVSketch I think there's at least two multi-conscious entities fighting for control of the planet. One being the fungus which connected to Levi (and let's say to Ursula too*) and the other being Sam's parasite (connected to the other woman and animal).
      *Didn't Levi and Ursula have a certain interaction closing in on the end?

    i think the fungus, by eating humans adapted and evolved to the point it can bred with humans by killing them and gaining sentience, this copy of ursula is the daughter of the fungus

    • @RVSketch
      @RVSketch  8 месяцев назад +1

      Definitely a cool idea! I'd actually love to see some sort of human x animal/plant hybrid as a character in the series (I know we already got Sam's clone, but I don't think it counted as a person).

    I love this video, and this theory. Definitely subscribing. Also, what if the writers tried to do this, but then ditched the idea? Because it was never really explored further. Or maybe this fungus takes more time than the parasite? This means that there's still a possibility of this being elaborated upon in a second season.

    I think you're definitely be back on the right track with your theory. There are multiple quotes in the first season that emphasize how the entire planet is a puzzle. One critical element you briefly mentioned but is worth expanding on is the white flower that grows from every organism on the planet when it dies.
    The fact that this flower grows out of every organism that dies is evidence of My theory that the entire planet has been colonized by a sentient slime mold that mimics other organisms. This slime mold has a divided consciousness, but every cell can communicate with every other cell and store information. The flower is another organism that the slime mold mimics and uses to update information in all its cells by releasing pollen programmed with information. Almost all the organisms on the planet are just slime mold copies of original organisms that coevolved with the mold before it colonized the entire planet. When an organism dies, the mold grows a flower out of the corpse to germinate and disseminate information to the other slime mold cells about its life experiences. Theoretically, every single slime mold cell has a copy of all the memories of all the past life experiences it has mimicked.
    The biological motive for the slime mold to mimic other organisms is that it is an explorer, seeking to colonize new places. It learned to copy other organisms and their way of perceiving the world as a strategy to spread and create more copies of itself. This goes deeper than your “fungal theory.” I believe that all parasitic organisms are also mimics of this slime mold, which in turn make plant or fungal copies of the animal organisms they prey upon. So, a slime mold pretending to be a mushroom, which is pretending to be an Ursal.
    When Levi the robot touches the flower, the slime mold colonizes it and can experience the world through its consciousness for the first time. The fact that the slime mold can now use a computer to understand itself makes it very “happy,” as it instantly starts using Levi to help all the other mimics.
    Having a robot like Levi to perceive the world and have agency would be incredibly useful for the slime mold. It would allow the mold to interact with its environment in new ways, gather more detailed information, and potentially manipulate its surroundings more effectively. With Levi's capabilities, the slime mold could explore more efficiently, make more informed decisions, and even coordinate its mimics to achieve complex goals. This newfound agency could lead to a significant evolutionary advantage, allowing the slime mold to further its spread and influence on the planet.
    And maybe others as is shown the last scene other planets.
