Bubba Ho Tep is ridiculous. I read the novella years ago, might need to read it again soon. I saw that Possession is streaming on my Kanopy app. Definitely watching that one again this season! It’s wild.

A Halloween binder means it's about to get serious!! Love it!🎃 Haxan is the wildest of rides. It sets up a lot of what comes next in horror so I think that you'll dig it Have to add Stage Fright to my watch list. I haven't seen it in years and am so happy you reminded me about it! And YES to all the giallos! Great list!🔪Totally random, but I love your neon ghosty background!!👻🎥

Both "Haxan" and "Bubba Ho-Tep" movies I love (for different reasons). "Bubba Ho-Tep" is just fun, weird, but, strangely enough, with some actual commentary about how the elderly are regarded in our society. Bruce Campbell is great.... I also have a personal memory about the movie: I live in Maine, and my friends and I were big Bruce Campbell fans, and when this movie first came out on DVD, I went to buy it at a Borders in Bangor, ME. Now, there was a stretch of time when every time I went to Borders, it seemed that Stephen King was there, but he always was looking like he was in a hurry, not wanting to be bothered, almost trying to hide. The day I went to get Bubba Ho-Tep, I went up to the second floor where the music and movies were, and Stephen King was there, talking to the cashier, seemingly relaxed and in a good mood. I was also buying a Vonnegut book. I grabbed Bubba Ho-Tep and went to the checkout, and Stephen King looked at me, looked at what I had, and he said, "Bubba Ho-Top with groovy Bruce!" And I said, kind of shy, "Yeah, I'm a big Bruce Campbell fan". And he asked if I had read the Joe Lansdale story it was based on, and I said no, and then, joking said, "I've been meaning to read some Lansdale, though, I hear he's great, and it's really hard to find good horror writers these days." And he looked at me with a "why I oughta" kind of look then laughed a big laugh, and the cashier laughed, and I checked out and he told me he hoped I liked the movie, and that the Vonnegut book I had was great. And that was that. My run in with Stephen King.
Sorry to ramble on and on... but as another thought, "Cemetery Man" is so wonderfully weird... just so strange and darkly funny. And I agree that Phantasm II is better than the first.
Oh! And "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" has good stuff about it... have you seen or heard of the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark documentary? It's about the books. It's really good. R.L. Stine is interviewed for it, but it talks about how the books were challenged, and has interviews with the people who defended them and the people who challenged them... the author's son meets with a woman who tried to get them pulled form school libraries. It's very interesting, but also a great look at how and why the guy wrote them and all the fan art it has inspired...
Anyway, sorry for writing a book here. I get excited about this stuff.

I haven't watched so many of these movies... Terrifier 1 2 & 3, Puppet Master, Dead Silence, Demons to name but a few. I've seen all of the Phantasm films and they're so much fun. Insane how the first film came out in 1979 and the fifth and final one came out in 2016! Angus Scrimm, AKA The Tall Man was a great choice for that role. Also I loved Renfield, a mixture of a vampire movie, buddy cop, crime drama, comedy and action all rolled into one!

Haxan > Bubba Ho-Tep (Always go with witchcraft ♡)
I love Puppet Master, Black Sunday, Possession, and Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.
I'm thinking about finally watching Children of the Corn for Halloween this year. Linda Hamilton is amazing and you might like the Beauty and the Beast series from the 80s she was in. There was even a Halloween episode called 'Masques'.

I can never do just 31 movies. I love the season way too much. I started my annual Halloween marathon about 13 years ago, and it's only gotten bigger over the years as I've discovered and rewatched more and more horror films or those creepy crisp Fall/Autumn Halloween vibes. Oddly enough, when i first started this, it was just tv shows and a handful of movies. Now it's gotten so big that I've actually started watching and celebrating this month since I have so many I put on my list every year, and a lot of people seem to agree this is the month it starts. I really enjoyed your list. Do your other friends have lists of their own as well, or do you all combine to make one list ?

I **was** going to aim for strictly fantasy oriented movies this October to get me in the mood for all the October 31st kids' stuff I loved in the 80's and 90's like = _Garfield's Halloween Adventure, It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Witch's Night Out,_ and the Fairuza Balk 1986 classic, _The Worst Witch._
But I've changed my mind and now I'm going to do a blend of fantasy and horror and fun old movies and TV classic animation and even music videos and RUclips stuff.
    So, my list will include:
_Beetlejuice, The Addams Family_ (1991), _Little Shop of Horrors_ (1986), _Twilight Zone: The Movie_ (1983), _Rocky Horror Picture Show_ (1975), _Barbarella, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory_ (because: CANDY), _The Witches_ (1990), tons more Nostalgic classics.
But I'm also finally clearing the way for some ultra-fun Schlocky horror. Like: _Rabid Grannies, There's Nothing Out There, Deadly Friend, After Midnight_ (1989), _Pet Sematary_ (1989), _Frogs, Creepshow 2, Poltergeist III, The Blob_ (1958), _Motel Hell, Ghoulies II, Dr. Giggles, Innocent Blood_ (1992), _Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II, The Fearless Vampire Killers_ and a lot more...

Bubba Ho Tep for the win. It is Bruce Campbell's finest performance since The Evil Dead series. And YAY Aquabats!!! Over the Garden Wall is amazing. Great voice cast and will pleasantly surprise you. Love Sam Neill? Seen John Carpenter's In the Mouth of Madness? If not, find it. Watch it!!! Waxwork is fun, Waxwork 2 is even more insane. Lords of Salem fell short for me and I do think Rob Zombie's best film is The Devil's Rejects but Lords does have my favorite band on the soundtrack, Rush. Scary Stories is incredible!! As is Something Wicked!!! Cannot go wrong with Jonathan Pryce and Jason Robards! The Hills have Eyes has got to be the best remake of a horror film holding up against the incredible and unhinged original film. Hellraiser 2? Awesome. Doug Bradley is an incredibly underrated actor. Renfield is great but trigger warning to those who have issue with abusive relationships and narcissists. Even out to 50? The Void from 2016 is a love letter to HP Lovecraft and John Carpenter

Haxxan is fantastic but it is classy as hell, so if you're feeling complete pulp Bubba Ho-Tep is outstanding. I love both but they are very different. I'd leave it up to your mood. Hahahahahaha Evil Dead Trap is NUTS it is amazing but also...uhh....A LOT.
    Cemetery Man!
I have been meaning to watch Black Sunday for yeaaaaars but I always forget to. Demonic Toys is gonna be a fave hahaha Baby Oopsie Daisy for lyfe.
Phantasm 2 rocks...that FREAKING shotgun amazing. Waxwork Slaps...Possession is a goat. Hack-o-lantern is trashy trash but fun. Inferno is wild.

I should add this whole list you’ve put together is full of bangers. Cemetery Man is one of my all time favorite horror movies. It’s so insane and feels like a further evolution on the esoteric nature of what Dario Argento was doing in his movies. Soavi worked for him for many years and it shows. Love that you’re getting so into Italian horror. Fulci is a sick freak but I love him. I just got the 4ks for both city of the living dead and house by the cemetery so I’m planning on rewatching both this year. If you wanna see a more psycho-sexual movie from Fulci that’s less horror and more drama you gotta check out The Devil’s Honey. It has the most insane goofy and amazing “sexy” opening to any movie ever. Okay rant over excited to watch along with you this Halloween 🙂.

Bubba Ho Tep over Haxxan. Haxxan is wonderful and a great watch if you're in the mood. Bubba Ho Tep is directed by the legend, Don Coscarelli and stars the ever hilarious Bruce Campbell as Elvis, and Ossie Davis as a black, wheelchair bound JFK. It's great.
