Accepting yourself is amazing. It doesn't stop there. I don't believe in being "ruthless" but I hold myself to a much higher standard. Humility. Honest introspection. Recognizing weaknesses and pouring energy into continuous growth to be your best version of you that makes the life you want. I love David Goggins. I'm not trying to BE David Goggins.
Self love is at least 3 fold. First self love is Stopping the inner critic. Its huge not to cut your own head off when alone. No more cussing at yourself is a big deal. Be kind to yourself. Second self love is treating your body well. Not putting in bad things into the body and making the body flexible, strong and happy, giving yourself love. And not feeling guilty about it. Third self love is maintaining your peace.
I really wish I got as hyped about Alex as everyone else seems to, something just doesn't click for me with him. Still, its good to hear from someone with a different perspective and I appreciate he has a lot of knowledge to share.
I'm with you Sophie. Just doesn't feel like a home run to me either. I sense a logical inconsistency between "I dress how I want, you have to just be you and not conform to what anyone thinks, design yourself" and "when I worked at a certain job I had to dress a certain way" There's a serious logical chasm there! Many people are forced to take part in society for their well-being and very often your "chosen role" comes with a set of expectations -- some easier to cast off than others. And not everyone can afford such luxury. The social price of authenticity can be very high depending on who you are and whose approval/backing/money you need to make a living. I hear a lot of talking and a lot of good tidbits of wisdom and plenty of enthusiasm, but I'm not feeling much gluing it all together. Still happy for the content though. Additional perspective is always good. Thanks to all involved!
I think a lot of it for me is I just don't relate to his value system. I'm not particularly materialistic and have never had that hustle and grind mindset because what's at the end of it just doesn't do it for me. I probably fall very firmly into that 'mediocre Molly' group but for me, I just wanted to have a job I enjoy, earn enough to be comfortable and have a family. I have a Mother's day card pinned on my mirror that says 'To the world you are a Mum, but to us you are the world' which rings pretty true to me. There isn't one definition of success, it's different for everyone, from what I have heard from Alex that always seems tied to business and money. Perhaps it's because he's so far in his masculine energy, but to me he can come off a little one dimensional. There seems very little feminine influence, like compassion or empathy there.
@@tempsoda Thanks for the perspective. Your kids are truly lucky to have such insightful parents! Mediocre Molly ain't a bad place to be. All of the true happiness in life is available in almost every moment. More ain't always better, and everything great comes with it's own "tax" in the form of whatever burdens it brings. So the price of "more" is always steeper than lots of folks can see. Especially if that means time spent. Happy to have made the connection today - a pleasure to e-meet you. If we never meet again, then warm wishes to you, your partner and your children!
It's unlikely a masculine narrative is going to resonate with women. I mean women these days are constantly telling eachother and themselves that they deserve without doing anything to warrant that. And of course a woman is more likely to not want to pursue an existence that is about sustained effort leading to great achievement. This is why the world was literally created by men.

I’m 50 and I thinking about taking my own life constantly for 30 years. Along with numerous attempts. All from self hate. It’s imbedded now and I know it will always be that way. For young people reading this and you hate yourself get help before you get to old. Self hate can become apart of who you are.
Well that's 30 years of toughness. Now go carnivore diet if you haven't already, and see what happens . You are strong. Stay strong. You have 30 years of being knocked down to the floor and 30 years of getting back up. That's how you get stronger.
This lvl of loathing and self hate comes from the influence of the jinn within your body hence why you list hope. Jinns are a spirit we cant see, some good some bad. You have the symptoms of a bad jinn occupying your body. Look into Islam and expel the evil within you, it'll expel the I'll thoughts
An anime I would tell any Male to watch and even some women is Gurren Lagann It has one of the best messages any piece of Media could tell you from one of the greatest people in the main characters life and spoilers ahead for Episode 8 of the show for those who want to see it for themselves "Simon always remember believe in yourself, not in the Kamina that you believe in, and not the Simon that I believe in, Believe in the Simon who believes in You!" Believe in the version of yourself you want to be, rather than who others know you are because self love moves you forward far more than the trust you have in others But what makes that line hit is that Kamina knows Simon didnt believe in himself so in the beginning he told him to believe in the kamina that believes in him, giving him confidence, he told him believe in him to give Simon comfort, but when he knew he was at the end of his rope he left Simon one last message to believe in himself because as comforting as it is to believe in another persons trust in you its also a shackle you need to grow past
I always remind myself to think like a Jedi. Don’t be anxious, depressed, overly positive or overly negative. Just…be. Glass half-full and glass half-empty people are blind. Optimism and pessimism are unhealthy, focus on realism.
Just saw this comment my friend. Funny I have no idea who you are but I'm a 57 year old retired teacher and contractor but mostly goofy hillbilly pilot athlete and still not sure what to do with the rest of my life but very very blessed to not hate myself because I had a mother that loves me so deeply and still does. I'm sure my mother would even love you but I know the universe does
“Love” eluded me for so long. I’d hear people throw around the word saying here it is or there it is. But then they would do or say things that did not seem loving. But when I read, “Love is patient. Love is kind….” It hit me that these are not feelings but ways of BEING. To BE is to DO. Concrete action. And when someone is patient with or kind to us, or when we are patient with or kind to others we feel peace and joy.
Hey friend. I only learned it in my mid 30s. I recommend coaching, therapy, or at a minimum, RUclips channels like HealthyGamer. Life is a lot more tolerable, and dare I say, enjoyable, once you can stop being your own worst enemy. It may sound strange, but you can even become your own best friend. Wishing you health and wealth!
Finally, someone explained it to me. Loving yourself is just being willing to take good care of yourself. Aim to quell negative self-talk, take care of your body and it will take care of your mind and improve the way you feel about yourself.
Perfectionism is escapism. Always aim for 100%, but If you only make it to 80%, don't call yourself a failure, instead tell yourself that's you'll aim for 90% next time.
IDK life feels like a chore. So much effort and work and stress for what? To die at the end? Giving up is a perfectly valid and reasonable response to this hellish, unfair reality.
It is hard work, especially depending upon your circumstances. But we only have one life (as far as we understand it anyway), so why not try to make it the best you can? Sure it’s going to suck big time at certain points, but it’s not always going to be like that, even when it seems so. I’m not going to pretend to try and understand or guess at your circumstances, but there is always something to latch on to that can become a positive, however small. You just have to be willing to find it. I wish you well.
@@chrisdraper845 Thank you, and I actually improved my life in many aspects. I have a good job, some good savings, etc. The problem is that when I go further it seems everything else turns to shit. Sure I'm successful in my job but I'm totally shit in any kind of human relationships (autism?). I doubt you can be happy as a human having a lot of a thing and nothing on another as equal thing... maybe I don't explain myself well.
@@josepheridu3322 I understand, work and money are only a small part of what makes us happy. I appreciate things are definitely harder with autism too.
I kinda think these guys really don’t understand self hatred. From someone who literally hates themselves, I couldn’t find a single thing these guys said I could actually apply to my life. I accept that my mental illness has ruined my life. Great. So what now? This applies to the top 5% of pretty men who are having a rough day.
I hear you, man. Mental illness can absolutely ruin your life if left unchecked. And it's not your fault, you got them. Life can be an absolute bitch sometimes. What happened to a person early in life that was beyond their control is definitely not their fault. Some people will get a way better headstart compared to others. However, following certain processes first without questioning will definitely take you from where you are to a better place. Walking 10000 steps a day ( maybe just start with a 1000 and increase gradually), keeping yourself hydrated, limiting your social media usage, cutting out junk food, etc. Start with one step at a time. Do some of these without questioning youself why. I won't lie to you and say it will fix all your problems but it will definitely lighten the burden you are carrying right now. I wish you the best.
I hear you CowbyCubBoy. On his podcast, Andrew Huberman says you have to heal the body to heal the brain and you can't fix the mind with your brain. You can't think your way out of mental illness but you can work to stabilize blood sugar to avoid ups and crashes, aim to get better and more sleep, learn about hormones, body chemistry, and how thoughts, food or toxic substances can alter mood. Aim to work from the ground up so to say and build a stronger "house" for your mind and brain to live in and you'll probably improve. My issues are because I was disabled since childhood so I also have an unstable foundation. Trying to love myself has been like trying to build a castle on sand.
@nemojob666 and Cowboycubboy I like youtube personality Mel Robbins who says to focus on the little things that you can improve and that it's the small choices we make throughout our day that create positive change. All day I ask myself "Is this choice good for me? Like what harm can one little piece of candy do? Well, lots of little poor choices do add up but so do lots of little positive choices.
I like most Chris his guests. But I really don't get Alex Hormozi's his message before and now still I don't like this clip either. He really feels to me like he is full of himself and incongruent somehow. Looking at the comments, most people like him, so it must be me. I'll give the podcast a listen anyways
i'm with you. He is full of himself. it is not as simple as "just be your 80 year-old self" lol. Maybe what he chose got him what he wanted, but that doesn't make it true for the rest of us. His attitude is one size fits all based on HIS individual experience.
I’m feeling a lack of depth here in his points. His goals feel materialistic/shallow to me. Would have appreciated more perspective on accepting who you are as a person vs focusing on constantly improving/grinding.

Alex sort of gets it right but goes off the rails when he defines the person you are trying to be as the 'successful' person. The right answer is to try and be a virtuous person which indeed does involve a great degree of self scrutiny but in no way necessitates 'success' in any usual sense of that term.

God bless this man
can't wait to inject the full pod into my veins. Good stuff as always, Chris.
This is beautiful! Thank you so much for this conversation.
“Everyone sucks.. like so many people are mediocre.”
Wow that first 30 seconds was deep. Like imma do that right now.
Love this so much. Alex sets a new bar in leadership. He has helped me tremendously get honest with myself & my dreams and understanding how much is bullshit. Much love!
damn.... a few mindset shifts here and there can make all the difference; thanks Alex
I'm tired of people telling me I'm not good enough. Half of RUclips seems to be about how we're not good enough and need to be optimized like mathematical functions. We're humans, not fucking algorithms. So sick of this shit.
Well, if you get offended by random strangers online telling you you are not good enough then you are in a dark place my friend. No one is telling you anything except your own mind ..
Look 4ward to full 3hr podcast~ Chris u r so kicking it with the topics n guests u r highlighting...what Mr hormozi sharing is learned mostly thru school of hard knocks/life...I'm 58 single by choice n yet still believe in real/true love...maybe someday u will be interviewing Me about it eh!?!!6:51Pm8/16/2023

This guy!! 😅😂 “everyone sux, everyone is mediocre” yes!!!! Haha he’s awesome
Self-acceptance does not equal complacency.
Great subject.

An anime I would tell any Male to watch and even some women is Gurren Lagann
It has one of the best messages any piece of Media could tell you from one of the greatest people in the main characters life and spoilers ahead for Episode 8 of the show for those who want to see it for themselves
"Simon always remember believe in yourself, not in the Kamina that you believe in, and not the Simon that I believe in, Believe in the Simon who believes in You!"
Believe in the version of yourself you want to be, rather than who others know you are because self love moves you forward far more than the trust you have in others
But what makes that line hit is that Kamina knows Simon didnt believe in himself so in the beginning he told him to believe in the kamina that believes in him, giving him confidence, he told him believe in him to give Simon comfort, but when he knew he was at the end of his rope he left Simon one last message to believe in himself because as comforting as it is to believe in another persons trust in you its also a shackle you need to grow past
This is soooo good!
I always remind myself to think like a Jedi. Don’t be anxious, depressed, overly positive or overly negative. Just…be.
Glass half-full and glass half-empty people are blind. Optimism and pessimism are unhealthy, focus on realism.

I hate myself but i dont even understand what self love is. The concept is beyond my grasp.
And then you get 80%, and 90%, and then again 80% and so on, but never 100%. So it will sting more and more
This one's powerful
that box throw almost looked totally fake, that was clean
Monday is so far man
I am frothing at the mouth for the full episode

What did you mean by 'relinquish', Chris?
Chris, I’d like to order and try lmnt but via that link you can only order it from the USA or Canada, not to/from Europe.
I’m not feeling him either… just something off about him. Like dan bilzarians brother lol
Good day, all! I'm not finding the full interview with Alex. Please direct. Thanks. :)
I'm a bit curious as to how someone like say a sadghuru would react to this conversation? 🤔
good stuff
Sure, I could be better. But I don't have to be better. What matters is whether I'm content *now*
What is the diff between self-worth and self-love ? Just a new word for old descriptions but it works 🤫
I’m feeling a lack of depth here in his points. His goals feel materialistic/shallow to me. Would have appreciated more perspective on accepting who you are as a person vs focusing on constantly improving/grinding.
The biggest problem with hating yourself is that it inevitably leads to not only treating yourself like shit, but other people in your life as well.
This guy gives toxic hustle culture vibes- not sure about him… will have to check out the full pod when it drops.
Same. Both of them do to be fair. Even Chris himself, except that he seems less douchey and more interested in learning.
this legit looks like a movie lol
its justice vs honor..
do we hate society enough to seek justice?
why is western society so repulsing in the first place?
the Japanese where baffled as to our willingness to fight them across the planet.. they had never encountered the hideousness that was justice
Says he rejects acceptance. Immediately says he can accept acceptance. Goes on to reject apathy.
You think apathy is garbage. Got it.
Judging by those delt caps I reckon there is some self medication aswell as self love

The 85 year old "you want to be.
People with a strong sense of who and or what they want to be at 85 have no use for this talk.
Ironically most people likely are not even gonna live upto 85
'You accept the fact that you are 5'8'', you accept that you're black, you accept that you're a woman' -__- tell us what you really think without telling us what you really think....
Alex sort of gets it right but goes off the rails when he defines the person you are trying to be as the 'successful' person. The right answer is to try and be a virtuous person which indeed does involve a great degree of self scrutiny but in no way necessitates 'success' in any usual sense of that term.
Damn I didn’t know people think being black is such a self burden. I still don’t understand how this is a barrier
Any message for someone who hates everyone else?!

there's something incredibly fake about this guy. Hard to say if true or not. For a supposedly super successful businessman, he's a bit too agressive on the internet, appearing everywhere. Why does he even need it ? Or is another empty story to promote himself and make money this way. Just like PBD, although at least this one sounds bit smarter.
