Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Gets 11-Minute Ovation At Its Cannes World Premiere
At its international debut on Sunday at the Cannes Film Festival, Kevin Costner's Western epic Horizon: An American Saga received an 11-minute, 40-second standing ovation at the Grand Theatre Lumiere as the credits rolled.
Costner, who received a standing ovation alongside stars such as Sienna Miller, Alejandro Edda, Jena Malone, Abbey Lee, Georgia MacPhail, Ella Hunt, Isabelle Fuhrman, Wasé Chief, Luke Wilson, and Costner's son Hayes Logan Costner, directed and starred in the three-hour film, which is the first installment of a planned four-part series.
Costner was humbled by the ovation this evening as he waved to the audience. "This place is unlike any other-I will always remember it," he said briefly to the gathering. "I produced this [film]... I realized as soon as it was over that it was no longer mine; it was now yours.
"I feel so fortunate and blessed," he remarked, pausing before continuing, "There are three more."
Warner Bros. is set to release Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 in theaters on June 28. The second chapter is scheduled to release on August 16. Costner recently announced to Deadline that filming for Chapter 3 will start this month.
The movie, which sees Costner return to the Western genre, follows the American West's pre- and post-Civil War growth. History is being written between the Native Americans who witnessed the colonization of their lands and others who were determined to settle there, often at any cost.
Costner has had a full schedule since arriving in Cannes. The movie is currently wrapping up its international distribution. Meanwhile, Costner was awarded France's Order of Arts and Letters by French Culture Minister Rachida Dati on Sunday, following his completion of a festival photo call. The ceremony included a nod to his role in The Bodyguard.

He is running away from his issues.The Horizon saga is a distraction.He can't handle drama, or personal problems..Its easier to walk away and put his mind and efforts into something else.He doesn't face things head on.He puts them behind him and moves on.The only problem is , some things just don't go away.The older he gets the more he is realizing this.Confront the past.....Kev.
