Welcome to this exhilarating indoor cycling journey through the breathtaking landscapes of Cairngorm National Park! Starting at the foot of Cairngorm Mountain, this immersive ride will take you through some of the most scenic areas in the park, offering stunning views and a dynamic virtual experience.
    Start: Cairngorm Mountain Descent
We kick off our adventure at the foot of Cairngorm, one of the highest peaks in Scotland, offering a thrilling descent as we begin our ride. As you pedal down the slopes, feel the excitement of the cool mountain air (virtually!) rushing past, with sweeping views of the rugged Highlands surrounding you. The trail descends into the Glenmore Forest, where you’ll begin to sense the shift from the high, barren mountain slopes to the dense greenery below.
Loch Morlich: Westward Ride Around the South Shore
As we reach the tranquil waters of Loch Morlich, you’ll get to enjoy the picturesque views of this stunning loch nestled among towering pines and distant peaks. Known for its unique freshwater beach, Loch Morlich is a centerpiece of the area and a popular spot for outdoor activities. We’ll ride along the south shore of the loch, where the calm waters mirror the surrounding forests and mountains. Keep an eye out for glimpses of wildlife, as this area is known for red squirrels and birds of prey like ospreys.
The westward ride takes us through winding paths that offer plenty of natural beauty as you ride past dense forests, with glimpses of the loch on one side and the towering Cairngorms on the other. The contrast of the forested trails with the expansive views over the water creates an unforgettable visual experience as we cycle deeper into Glenmore National Park.
    Through the Forests of Glenmore
Cycling through the majestic Glenmore Forest, you’ll be surrounded by ancient Scots pine, birch, and oak trees. This dense woodland is part of the larger Caledonian Forest, a remnant of the ancient woodlands that once covered much of Scotland. The paths here are winding but smooth, providing a relaxing yet engaging cycling experience. The forest’s tranquil atmosphere and dappled sunlight make this section of the ride feel like a peaceful escape into nature.
Arriving at Coylumbridge and Turning East
As we ride further west, we arrive at Coylumbridge, a charming point on our route, offering a change in scenery. Here, we turn eastward, cycling back towards the direction of Loch Morlich. The path gradually opens up, offering more expansive views of the surrounding landscape. You’ll be riding along quiet, forested trails with a gentle ascent, making the return trip engaging but not too strenuous.
Completing the Loop at Loch Morlich
Our ride comes full circle as we return to the shores of Loch Morlich. We cycle through Glenmore, a serene and scenic section of the park, before finishing the ride on the eastern shores of the loch. This sandy beach area, often compared to a coastal beach, is the perfect spot to reflect on the journey as you complete the loop. The contrast of the golden sand, blue waters, and surrounding greenery creates a picture-perfect ending to this virtual cycling adventure.
Whether you're riding for fitness or enjoying the stunning Scottish scenery from home, this Cairngorm National Park loop offers a rich and immersive experience.
