As a Trader you need to undstand that you are a player in the financial markets. You're playing with/or against central banks, financial institutions, banks e.t.c. So it is important to have both technical and most importantly fundamental knowledge. Fundamental knowledge gives you an understanding of the markets and its activities. Why certain events occur and many more.. which can be reflected in price.
Your technical knowledge, the skill equips you for execution. As a player, you're ideally your own banker..so armored with knowledge and the right tools you give yourself the opportunity to capitalize on the abundance of opportunities in markets.

I'm a 9-5 and a trader same time, because I knew it's gonna be hard for me to fund my account,I decide to go to school(Varsity) for 3years and get a 9-5 then fund my trading account and I'm still doing 9-5 and I'm slowly being consistent in trading and I'm sure to get somewhere in a year's time, now that I have a way to pump money to my trading account, emotions are less and other expenses are still covered💯 so I advise 9-5 to people who struggle with finding.

yeah mj is right and that is called slippage where there is a difference between closing price and current market price during that particular news event that causes excessive loss or more than you placed your stops
