Hi there @marineb7617! Thanks for dropping by the channel and checking out this video! Pretty neat indeed! If you make it to Tokyo (or already happy to be here) you should definitely consider stopping in! Best for now :-)
Amazing! Appears to be non-smoking, which is a nice difference from some of the other listening bars. "Tokyo never stops impressing me." Word! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Definitely non-smoking! I should have stated that more clearly. The ashtrays are simply to denote the table numbers. I think they have something to do with the staff bringing your order to your table and/or the records you have taken out. Yes, Tokyo never stops impressing me. It's remarkable really, even just this morning I was thinking "I love this city so much." I feel very fortunate most of the time to call this place home (it's only when I see pictures of beautiful back yards, or family vacations to the Gran Canyon, or walking out of one's door into a forest that makes me second-guess the city! Happy Holiday's Bryce!
I just stumbled across this video and channel. What a lovely peek into this culture in Tokyo. Thank you for creating such enjoyable and informative content! I subscribed and sure am looking forward to the next video!
Thank you for checking out the video and for the very kind words! I'm happy you enjoy what I'm trying to do and I'm glad and grateful you subscribed! Welcome to Tokyo Record Style!
@VinylBrief - Just subbed your channel up - looked really cool! I'm intrigued ;-) Please look me up when you come back to Tokyo! And let me know where in the world you are so I can look you up when I come there!
@@tokyorecordstyle Thanks so much! I genuinely love this community and will be putting more videos out within the next month. Ive been watching a lot of your videos recently, keep it up! Cheers!
Yeah, this is a neat community. People are so passionate about music and it's great that have a place to broadcast and share that passion for like-minded people. Appreciate you watching my videos. Keen to see what you'll be putting out there! Do you best :-) Greetings from Tokyo, 🌊 👋
Whoa! That’s totally cool. I saw the Korean one online and I shouldn’t be surprised that it cropped up in Tokyo. Also, it’s lovely to see all the young people there. And light flicker…ugh, I found it in most of my Japan footage when I got back.
Totally, it's a great place! and yeah, that light flicker is a bit of a bummer. And yes, it's so cool and fascinating to see the younger generation in Japan getting into analog!
Thanks for watching! Glad you think so! Quite nice indeed! I concur that America needs this! Why don't you be the one to give to to them - it's prime for the taking!
Wow, Wolfy! I'm touched you'd you take the time to share that. Really flatters! Glad and grateful you're enjoying the videos! It's always a fun adventure exploring the backstreets of Tokyo! Come hang out sometime!
RIGHT?!?! I think places like this will turn lots of people onto the tactile connection one can have with music, hopefully forging more meaningful appreciation for music, especially in a media landscape where music has so much more to compete with than when we grew up! Best from Tokyo :-)
I really enjoyed this and envy your command of the Japanese language. The record cake was marvellous! The lovely ladies even more delicious! I hope you do more of these.
Thank you for checking out the video and the channel @straycatamite! You can find several other videos like this one on my channel. I promise to make more too! Best from Tokyo!

@ thankyou brian im so looking forward as for me it will be a trip of a lifetime. Tokyo is such a great place you’re very lucky and you’re videos have made it for me loving music and photography like i do . Thankyou for your kind invitation to meet up and will be top of my things to do . Joe
I was under the impression this type of coffee lounge originated in Japan many years ago specializing in jazz recordings the old masters and new works recorded in Japan Loving it.
Yes, I think you are basically right! I think Japan originated the "Jazz Kissaten" which is a somewhat stuffy old-timers place, where you are meant to kinda be too cool for school. Then that idea got taken to Korea and turned into this "Hey, love music, but don't know anything about records? Think they're cool and retro? Wanna try em out? Welcome to our cafe!" type places, where there were turntables at each table. Then THAT idea is now being brought back to Japan. There might even be a word for it (I think ...but I could be conflating two things) called "Parallel Import" where something is essentially made for local market, updated in a foreign market, then imported back into the original market. Anyway, appreciate the comment. Thanks for dropping by the channel!
Wow! I just checked out Three Blind Mice Label and I definitely remember seeing the logo and I feel like I've looked up "TMB=xxx" on Discogs before more than once, I might even have one of their records in my collections already, but if I don't, this looks like a great label to know about. Thanks for sharing!
Fun video. We need a recoco here in Costa Rica to introduce more folks to vinyl records. I need more jazz vinyl friends here. Hmmmm ... maybe I should open one in my house.
Hello, Costa Rica! You can totally do it! Why not?! If I meet any Jazz-loving or record-loving friends in Costa Rica, I'll point them your way! Thanks for dropping by the channel!
@ Yes, CD’s too. It’s just that for me vinyl brings more tactile pleasure and even the small act of dropping a tone arm on a piece of plastic evokes a romance that I don’t feel CD’s quite delivers. For me.
Thanks for checking it out! Quite cute and nice little place. I went there this weekend with my daughter but it was packed to the gills and we couldn't get in! Very popular! And, WHOA! How cool that you live in Suginami-Ku! Wonderful! If you ever see me out bouncing around, please do say hello! Best for now :-)
That's a really cool place. I definitely want to check Recoco out... glad to see they have tea on the menu as well :) Hey, I have that Niagra Triangle "Vol. 2" :)
@This-Is-Music! Thanks for checking out the video. Glad to hear you dug it! Yes, tea AND a house speciality, Earl Grey Tart! You'll have to determine for yourself on your next visit to Tokyo. Or are you already here? Enjoy! (and be inspired to put on that Niagara Triangle Record, Vol. 2!)
Just listened to the song "Tokyo" by the Dirty Looks! What, time machine back to 1984! Fun tune ...and the Dirty Looks sound and look pretty cool! Thanks for sharing :-)
Thats a great idea, @MichaMachiene-jd8wd! You should totally do it, and a make us a behind-the-scenes video of your experience! Would be super cool to see :-)
that looks very cool. i have a question about motorcycle parking in Tokyo, is it ok if you leave your bike like that for a while ? i am moving to Tokyo and still unsure where its ok to Park or not :)
Thanks for the question. Motorcycle parking is quite hard, much harder than parking a car. You just gotta burn to memory where all the motorcycle parking spaces are. Google is usually not much however there IS a book you can get that has them all, but they change and get updated each year I think, but the book is usually available at the big parking garages near the government office buildings. I have had the old attendant guys give them to me a couple of times over the years. Don't mean to sound cryptic about it, but you just gotta figure it out, get a few parking tickets learn from your mistakes. You'll get the hang of it.
