VIVO rushed to adopt one-inch sensors just as quickly as they sought to boost sales, but this strategy led to their peak performance without any subsequent upgrade potential. I understand they were desperate due to declining sales-dropping from $131 million in 2021 to $88 million in 2023. However, early figures from 2024 indicate that having the best cameras isn’t significantly impacting their sales, a lesson Apple could have shared with them years ago based on their own statistics. As a result, VIVO may be downgrading sensors and considering a slower upgrade cycle. Even Samsung has recognized this trend and is now implementing minimal yearly improvements. This approach makes sense since consumers typically upgrade their devices every four years. If a company peaks early with specifications, people tend to hold on to their old devices longer or choose cheaper, older models instead. So, if you have the X100 Pro or Ultra, there is no need to upgrade, as the cameras are as good, and the chips are more than enough for most.
interesting take and I agree. When Vivo released the X90 pro+ (a phone I own and love), it seemed like they threw everything at it. Upgrades on the main camera has been less dramatic since, and now that they double down on sensor size - yes - I also think they take the strategy of slowing down progress. Shame, but I guess there is only so much you can do with the actual hardware for each release. Software optimisation will probably be the main focus

Great analysis. Only held the X200 Pro for a couple of minutes but came almost to the same conclusion. The only thing I noticed is that the 2x crop of the main sensor seem to be weaker than on the X100 Ultra.
Hi Ben, thanks for your comparison. Ben , do you know how to disable auto night sight on the x200 pro camera. I sometimes want a low light shot but it automatically goes to night mode and can not see a way to turn it off. Great video , glad I chose the 200 pro over the 100 ultra.
hi ben is it true that vivo degrade their old flagship to make way for their new lineup? i mean in terms of camera software processing, I;ve been reading it on reddit and facebook with people posting camera shot comparison and x100 ultra looks almost bad compared to x200 pro shots
Hi Ben, great comparison. Just want to point out as someone else did, the LYT-900 is built on 22nm tech not 40. Also, the new x200 pro has a faster apature (f1.57 vs f1.75) so this helps offset the bokeh and iso difference in night scenes. Overall i think vivo made good compromises, it would have been crazy to release a phone that outright bet the x100 ultra like 4 months after it was released 😅
Thanks Ben ! I was waiting for this ! Can't wait for the phone to go global, it seems to be imminent with all the certifications going around. All the best
Great video as always. I'm fighting the urge to upgrade my 100pro to the 100 ultra (I'm not convinced by the 200 pro) and just hold off till the 200 ultra.
Estas diciendo que la pantalla 1080 del x200 pro es mejor que la pantalla 2k del x100 ultra?? En cuanto al lente zoom es el mismo en ambos telefonos Si no tengo ninguno cual deberia comprarme y porque?

I do not have any of these phones but considing one of these while I am in Hong Kong .. Just hope it will work when I bring it back to Australia .. My friend's Sony Stopped working 😢
hello Ben. I guess the Vivo compared the building architecture of the new sensor to the IMX 989 in the vivo x100 pro not the LYT 900 in the Ultra. I think the LYT 900 is the same 22 nm as the LYT 818
How about the x100 pro . the x100 ultra has the lytia sensor but the x100 pro have the older tech 1 inch sensor. Is the new lytia tech thaat much better ?
God I would love to see you do a comparison with the x200 Pro versus the Google pixel 9 Pro XL. Us people in the United States would want to see what the better photography phone would be. Hopefully you will consider it.
I don't know why nobody talks about this but the X200 pro selfie camera is not good especially when compared to the x100 ultra. when the x100 pro came out the selfie camera also wasn't good but x100 ultra selfie was a massive improvement even being comparable to the best selfie camera ever till this day (S24 ultra) it needs to be pushed for vivo x200 ultra to either get the same sensor as S24 for selfie or the older x100 Ultra because there's too many phones with better selfie than x200 right now and I'm worried that if this isn't pushed we're gonna be stuck with an average selfie on the front. this phone literally has the best back cameras so it'll be a shame that the selfie ruins the "Best Camera Phone title"
Sorry, I've never been a selfie person and this goes back years. I always don't really test the selfie camera. I am aware that's a flaw in my testing. But hey I never claimed to be the most scientific and thorough tester. I've always been a "street photography shooting interesting things in the world" type of tester.
Great comparison, again.👍 I'm absolutely in love with my X200 Pro. I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions, but I am very curious about these. I noticed you shoot in 35mm with the main lens, as a photography enthusiast here, what is the reason behind this? And what style do you shoot in, Zeiss natural? Or do you change styles accordingly?
@@bensgadgetreviewsAh okay. I'm going out for the day today, I'm going to try the 35mm for myself. Best way to judge it for myself. One last question, for shooting in regular auto mode, do you prefer any style? Like textured - Vivid or the Zeiss natural? Thanks for answering the previous questions and sorry for the other questions but I'm trying to learn as much as I can to get better at photography and I can't think of a better person to ask for tips than you.
look at the EXIF provided. mostly X100 ultra using lower ISO or faster shutter speed compared with X200pro for same photo. meaning larger sensor is still superior. maybe vivo is trying to compensate smaller sensor for faster readout so experience will be much better
hi ben is chinese rom vivo able to use globally? like in japan or in singapore or most places? the google play store is easily downloaded into the phone? thank u very much
Read that they said the lens flare was a design flaw. Because the distance between the glass and the Len making light come in at a certain angle that cause it. When u find that angle it can be recreate every single time, it is more noticeable on video shooting when you are panning. Also the x200pro x2 zoom is worse than before while the super far zoom lens are better.
Hello friend, originOS5 beta update was released today for x100 ultra. Does your device have originOS5 or originOS4? Which version did you shoot in? And what do you think about originOS 5? Frankly, it is a 3.31 GB update, but I cannot say that it adds much to the device. A few design changes, a slightly sharper camera with HDR, atomic island but only used in origin applications. Are there any other notable notes you observed with OriginOS 5?
I did that update to beta OriginOS 5 and so far it's great, all works smooth, no battery drain I also use Nova Launcher with Google Discover all perfect no problems with widgets too. In terms of camera I don't know if anything changed.
I think it's not really meant to be an upgrade as it's pro versus ultra. The main camera is without a doubt better on the Vivo x100 ultra in terms of details for photos anyway. It's just got superior hardware for the main camera. The zoom is probably slightly better on the X200 pro but it's also more heavily sharpened. Vivo have officially stated in China though that the x100 ultra periscope will be updated with the same algorithm as the x200 pro periscope sometime before the Chinese New Year

Hey, would be wonderful if you could get your hands on Galaxy fold 6 se
Hi Ben, great comparison. Just want to point out as someone else did, the LYT-900 is built on 22nm tech not 40. Also, the new x200 pro has a faster apature (f1.57 vs f1.75) so this helps offset the bokeh and iso difference in night scenes. Overall i think vivo made good compromises, it would have been crazy to release a phone that outright bet the x100 ultra like 4 months after it was released 😅
Thanks Ben ! I was waiting for this ! Can't wait for the phone to go global, it seems to be imminent with all the certifications going around. All the best
Can the AI features be used in English in x200 pro?
Great video as always. I'm fighting the urge to upgrade my 100pro to the 100 ultra (I'm not convinced by the 200 pro) and just hold off till the 200 ultra.
I got 100 pro and will hopefully soon replace it with the x200 pro I'm more than convinced idk xD
is your x100 ultra sensor glass clean? seems smudged
Needed a reliable opinion on this discussion, especially with the recent lens flare fears, glad it came from you!
Estas diciendo que la pantalla 1080 del x200 pro es mejor que la pantalla 2k del x100 ultra??
En cuanto al lente zoom es el mismo en ambos telefonos
Si no tengo ninguno cual deberia comprarme y porque?
Just wondering Camera wise which phone would u buy Oneplus 13 or Oppo Find X8 Pro or Vivo X200 Pro or Vivo X100 Ultra please? I do not have any of these phones but considing one of these while I am in Hong Kong .. Just hope it will work when I bring it back to Australia .. My friend's Sony Stopped working 😢
Just received my x200 mini last week. Love the size and the battery haha
hello Ben. I guess the Vivo compared the building architecture of the new sensor to the IMX 989 in the vivo x100 pro not the LYT 900 in the Ultra. I think the LYT 900 is the same 22 nm as the LYT 818
Ah I think you're right thank you
hi Ben,
what is your favorite setting for photos, and by that I actually mean vivid or vintage modes?
Is it worth to upgrade x100pro to x200pro? based on camera only
Main camera it's a downgrade. Telephoto yes it's better so overall it's a no for me
@@frenchfries8745 it's not better, they just pushed too much AI, in some scenarios it's even worse.
Is the lens flare a bummer?
Awesome!! Been waiting to see your comparison on theses too!
Ben will you also compare x200 pro mini!?
Hi Ben. Great review as always. Waiting for your review of OnePlus 13. Is the acqua touch technology still in use in op 13?
From another review I've seen, yes it is
@@pspr33 thank you for confirming. This technology really makes a difference.
Where did youget these phones in hong kong? Thanks!
Hi, how are you, ben's do you want to answer me about the colors, what are the most natural colors between the two phones please. Thank you.
How about the x100 pro . the x100 ultra has the lytia sensor but the x100 pro have the older tech 1 inch sensor.
Is the new lytia tech thaat much better ?
The videos are really fantastic fr
Thanks Ben! I appreciate you brother! :) Personally I like the x200 pro more.
God I would love to see you do a comparison with the x200 Pro versus the Google pixel 9 Pro XL. Us people in the United States would want to see what the better photography phone would be. Hopefully you will consider it.
100x pro vs 200x is more of a fait comparison..x 100 had a larger as well..Good work 👍🏾
what's the difference between the Chinese version and the global version 💭
Ben, quick question, does the Vivo X200 pro mini have the same camera as the X200 pro?
The X200 Pro has a 200mm telephoto, the Mini has 50mm one. In most situations you will not notice until you need zoom
Hello Ben
I just curious that why my X200 Pro, the camera flash just working only one light instead of 3 (seem they are tree flash bulbs)
I find the 28mm too wide. The main camera in general is too wide. 35mm is closer to how human eyes perceive things.
For portrait I use vintage filter
@@bensgadgetreviewsAh okay. I'm going out for the day today, I'm going to try the 35mm for myself. Best way to judge it for myself.
One last question, for shooting in regular auto mode, do you prefer any style? Like textured - Vivid or the Zeiss natural? Thanks for answering the previous questions and sorry for the other questions but I'm trying to learn as much as I can to get better at photography and I can't think of a better person to ask for tips than you.
Does vivo update there old phones camera to make the processing better?
Thanks Ben, they are really excellent phones. 😎
thanks - very reliable opinion and review 👍
look at the EXIF provided. mostly X100 ultra using lower ISO or faster shutter speed compared with X200pro for same photo. meaning larger sensor is still superior.
maybe vivo is trying to compensate smaller sensor for faster readout so experience will be much better
Ben, do make a video on vivo x200 pro vs Oppo Find x8 pro
When will the fix the blur issue on the camera because I haven't blur issues on the Vivo x200 Pro is it a software fault or a manufactory fault
hi ben is chinese rom vivo able to use globally? like in japan or in singapore or most places? the google play store is easily downloaded into the phone? thank u very much
Yes I use Chinese rom in US and Thailand all the time
Do you think that origin os5 update on x100 ultra can help the camera a little bit ?
Read that they said the lens flare was a design flaw. Because the distance between the glass and the Len making light come in at a certain angle that cause it. When u find that angle it can be recreate every single time, it is more noticeable on video shooting when you are panning. Also the x200pro x2 zoom is worse than before while the super far zoom lens are better.
Ben I am wondering what it will cost you to upload all the photos on gdrive?
Your comparison doesn't have enough photos and it's just fhere😢
Please also try to get the Vivo x200 mini. I would love a review of that.
Should I wait for the X200 Ultra?
I think so if you have the x100 ultra already
Very nice, on your part to give a clarity on lens flare.
Ben, does this phones have something like Samsung Dex, Huawei desktop or similar? That turn phone into a pc when linked to a monitor?
I think it's not really meant to be an upgrade as it's pro versus ultra. The main camera is without a doubt better on the Vivo x100 ultra in terms of details for photos anyway. It's just got superior hardware for the main camera. The zoom is probably slightly better on the X200 pro but it's also more heavily sharpened. Vivo have officially stated in China though that the x100 ultra periscope will be updated with the same algorithm as the x200 pro periscope sometime before the Chinese New Year
