Last strike Arbitration lambasted management and gave a raise. Why are Postal workers making more than 15% less, some even lost almost 50% of their salary.
All you hear is 11.5% in 5 years. They don’t actually pay hourly. They have complicated formulas that no one understands to estimate a salary. Then they reduce the salaries.
Note: a reduction of more than 15% is illegal except if you belong to a union and have a contract.

They should have fulfilled deliveries sent prior to the strike. They would have gotten my support and the support of many others. Canada Post management should be feeling this, not the customers. I was expecting a very important small package on the 15th and who know if I would ever receive it. This have affected me and I am sure countless of others have expected something important and still waiting. I got no sympathy now and they don't have my support.

The contracts expire in February, and there's timelines under the Canada Labour Code for applying for mediation before either side can be in a legal strike or lockout position, which happened in early November.
Now it's up to Canada Post to make an offer the workers can get behind instead of this framework of vague details and bargaining through the media.

They have 5 or 6 weeks off even for fast food workers, can afford families and their own places generally, and are often as productive and often healthier due to less burnout than the usa.
But they seem to have more experience balancing out union, employee, and company needs. We need to learn that better in canada.
We have gutted our middle class for 40 years and reduced them to struggling to pay rent and not even have families.
      This has to be reversed.
      Just my thoughts

Canada Post employees don’t care about Canadians or the small Canadian businesses. That’s the whole reason they strategically walked out two weeks before Black Friday and the busy Christmas season. Ironically, they are in the comments sections claiming that people should feel ashamed for not supporting them..
That’s why the general consensus of MANY Canadians at this point is for Canada Post to go out of business forever. I wonder what hiring managers will do with the resumes that list years of experience with Canada Post. Throw them straight in the garbage is my guess.

At this point, I hope Canada Post withdraws whatever offer is on the table and makes a new offer of a 5% wage decrease that increases one percentage point every day for the next 15 days. Either they accept the deal at some point and have a 5-20% wage decrease, or Canada Post goes out of business forever. Btw, they should use the pension fund to pay off debts as well…
Canada Post has lost BILLIONS since 2018. In the third quarter alone they lost 315 million. Despite this, the union is demanding a 24% wage increase as well as the ability to force Canada Post to pay full time workers double time OT on weekends rather than hire part time employees. Well, well, well…. The workers claim that they are so overworked yet are demanding that they be given more hours on weekends. I wonder if it’s because they can get paid for 8 hours even if their job only takes them 4? On a Saturday, they could work 4 hours, get paid for 8, and all OT is automatically double time; work 4 hours but get paid for 16….. The company is already at death’s door and the employees see no issue with their demands……

I remember a few years ago some protestors blocked the Ambassador Bridge, and all the economists came out saying we're losing millions of dollars in trade every day and the government needs to act immediately. Now this strike is probably worse for the Canadian economy, and yet we aren't seeing the sense of urgency to get the mail moving again. Added to other economic problems, this could decimate Canada's economy. The government is underestimating the magnitude and the cost of this crisis under the false assumption that other mail carriers are mitigating the damage.

White glove customers were told strike will go into January, before mediator even left. Maybe they were told that is when forced arbitration will occur.

wrong, they don't mind working the weekend. What they're against is outsourcing to cheap labor for weekend delivery as well the possibility of weekdays work. That is one of the main problem in the negotiation talk. Also cutting the pension, benefits in half for the existing and future employees as well wages for new employees. The CPC made 6 and 3 billion during the covid years so that's 9 billions. What happened to that 9 billions they made during the last 4 years???? Covid lasted close to 2 years so they're not losing money, what they want is to get rid of the FT, PT and outsourced all the work to cheap contractors and labor and staff the workplace with casual who doesn't have any rights.

Just see how the Germans and french balance those needs to maintain a middle class with 5 or 6 weeks off, decent salaries, and often as productive as the us. They also have big companies and much better family support.
Perhaps we just need to learn from the french and germans how to better conduct discussions between unions and the company.
