Presume the warden is based a bit on Ita Ekpenyon, supposedly only black warden in WW2 London. Teacher and actor, became ARP member in Feb 1940. Worth looking at the films about him, good story.
That's so good to know! I love learning the facts about things like this. Apparently you can't comment on the casting, because you're r**ist if you point something like that out.
Just to see Paul Weller is great...he is just something special ....how lucky Saoirse Ronan is....Having been a massive fan of Paul since my early teens i truly believe he is a multi talented man....
Although I realize that any actor can play in any role ( see Denzel Washington as Hamlet ) , the percentage of interracial marriages at the time this is set is less than 1 %. I have zero problem with this being portrayed this way , except for you then wonder how historically accurate (if that was even a goal for them ?) the rest of the film will be as a result?
@@Munchausen45 No of course I'm not claiming that didn't happen! I'm talking percentages at this time in history. The information was from an article in the Guardian UK. I only mean that they were an extreme minority . And in so much film and media now it's portrayed as the norm, when it wasn't.
Film is about individual stories, not statistics. Even if only 0.1% of the population of Britain were mixed race, that's still 50,000 people at the time of WW2. Literally impossible to run out of possible stories to tell.
@@bojacknorseman9009 I agree. It wasn't meant as a judgment , merely an observation of the current trend in film and media. However you can't discount the reality of the statistics. The young actor playing the character George looks very promising and I look forward to seeing this film.
@@RagondinCosmopolite Not at all. People seem to think that if you point out a discrepancy in the historical details of a film (especially one portraying an actual historical event) that you are saying you're somehow r**ist. That is not how that was intended, at all. I take umbrage at the fact that you think I "don't approve" when all I did was point out that the accuracy of this is off.
In your next life, you will come back as a refugee with dark skin. No money, no family. Just you....at the mercy of strangers. That's how karma works. You get to experience the life of those you now hate....in their skin. Through their life experiences. So, you know, try hating on the billionaires who are ACTUALLY causing your misery while telling you to blame others.
Thanks for that as black Brit that was born here. Whose relatives came over on the queen’s invitation being part of the common wealth. It was common to view England at that time as your homeland. And there were a few mixed race kids in the blitz who actually didn’t fit again family members can testify. Whilst I would agree that changing history in media doesn’t help anyone. If you never wanted foreigners at your door you should have left other countries alone and minded your own business. Plus after the war we were invited to help build back up your country hence the sign no blacks no dogs and no Irish. Pride to born here and been degree educated hold a full time job and never been in trouble with the. So now I have covered all your stereotypes of black people. Have a blessed day as you truly are a flake.
I'd have to say some people (check your mirror) are rather easily disgusted. Just because they hired an Irish actress to play an English mum, you conlude it was to appease foreigners????
What a revolting and depressing sentiment. By the outbreak of World War Two there had been African, Asian and Caribbean immigrants in Britain for hundreds of years. Nothing you might want to think can change that. There is no way to rewrite that. There is no way deny history. If you're so offended by the idea of a film set in the 1940s with a mixed race main character then you really are a pathetic little crybaby snowflake.

Saoirse Ronan can do no wrong.
Anoher film I feel would make a good series concept wise. Visually and narratively.
Looks like a well done production. With Saoirse you can't go wrong.
Now!
This looks Good!!!!

He's the wee lad's grandpa in it! I feel auld!😂
I noticed the Modfather in the trailer .
Can he act as well as he sings ? We'll see in November 🤞👍

I don’t get the logic. Are you claiming interracial children didn’t exist in this period?
Where are you getting this figure?

Floop movie 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is disgusting, why does every piece of our history or culture have to be altered to appease foreigners we never wanted here in the first place?
