Almost Busted Exploring a Huge Abandoned Hospital
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 12 июл 2018
- In this episode we explore the now-demolished Old Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. The hospital was massive and heavily decayed. We explored most of the building while cop cars circled outside like sharks, and when we realized they were coming inside the building for us, we had to make an escape.

This is where my mom had all of her chemo treatments back in 2006. It's so weird to see it like this. I recognized so many of the rooms and hallways. I spent a lot of time in this hospital.
Hope your mom is okay now
Hope your mother is well now, I bet it's super surreal to see a fully functioning building turn into this wrecked mess in a short span of a few years.
Roman Brandt crazy what 10 years does to a building
Was this nice back in the day
My Mom was born here, and so are some of my relatives in the Richmond area.
With all that glass in front of the hospital, I bet at one point this hospital was really beautiful. Now it looks like a scene out of The Walking Dead.
TheEyeKing wait what?🤔
It's from those double doors in the Walking Dead: one has "don't open" and the other "dead inside" but if you read left to right you get "don't dead open inside"
It was really beautiful back when it was functional. I spent a lot of time here around 2006 when my mom was being treated for cancer.
That really sucks man, sorry to hear this.
My Mom was born here, and my relatives from Richmond. I'm from Connersville myself.
You have one of the best intros on youtube. Your work is very captivating. Kudos
that song fits it so good
Not to mention it's there own song. Good stuff
It has a nice amount of bass I love it.
where is this place
If I hear that music it reminds me of 'the glitch mob' (album: drink the sea). Maybe you guys check that out, probably you like that music.
@1:25 "So this is what can happen to a place in just a few short years with out any security." *Almost gets busted by security later*
I lived in Richmond. I was born in that hospital in 1998!
The hospital has been torn down, it was entirely demolished this year (2018).
I never got the chance to explore it. I'm typing this before I watch this video, because I want to be "surprised" by what it looked like inside before its ultimate demise.
Whether you guys see this comment or not, I'd still like to thank you for coming to this location, and uploading it since I have such a personal attachment to this facility.
The cops were there to make sure no one steals the mold.
Mold cops!
MOPS. lol
Bad spores, bad spores! What ya fungus do? What ya fungus do, when they come for you?!
I bet they all look like Mr clean yes? no?
I'd say so.
Somebody needs to make a chair just chillin compilation.
Garbagebandit DayZ sounds like a job for me
Nobody does exploration like The Proper People
Lucas Andresen Well the Unknown cameraman does pretty well, but he hasn't posted anything for almost a year now.
Because they're good and proper.
Whatever happened to the Unknown Cameraman, does anyone know?
Yeah! Not only do they give you the history of the location, they sometimes find photos and videos to go with. That level of care is second to none.
Sam and Colby, TFIL
I explored here too, me and my friends went in the middle of the night, and the cops came while we were on the roof. They had their sirens blaring and used the loud speakers to call out for us. They even used their spotlights. It was crazy. Definitely one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I’m so lucky I got to go before it was destroyed.
Emerson Däviß Looks like alot of us have been here. Lol. I filmed here 6 months ago
Sounds like you guys had alot more of a interesting experience though. I heard no one the 2 days I went
Emerson Däviß did anyone get caught or all made it out unnoticed?
Benjamin Hand I eventually announced our presence and they just told us about the deadly mold and then let us go
They weren't kidding
thats crazy that they ended up coming inside. all the times i’ve been there when cops show up they’ve always told me they refuse to go inside the building
They wouldn't go inside it was well known and even published in the newspaper that the police would not set foot inside due to the toxic risks.
Some cops are just young boys too. They be mad exploring too.
that was my thought too. If I was a cop fuck yeah I'd be goofing off at abandoned industrial sites at the slightest excuse.
Wow can't believe you were in my home town. I was born in that hospital in 1992. Crazy how it is now. Just drove by it tonight and they're still continuing to tear it down.
I was born their in 1996
I was never born.
Born there 2007
Born there in 91. Lived there pretty much my whole life up until about a year ago when I moved to Bloomington. It's still home to me. Not the best place to raise my kids tho.
Funny the first time we did Carraway Hospital an officer threatened us with arrest. The second time they told us “to be careful in there.” You never know what they’re going to do or say.
LOL, when I was about 15 I got caught exploring the roof of a local school and oddly, the maintenance people who caught us didn't have a problem with us looking around. They did firmly warn us not to go to the third level because it ends at the roof and there are no safety rails outside the door.
That room with all the HVAC equipment in it, it really does look like it was a lobby at one point. Its very strange that they would build such a decorative staircase, railings, and have decorative light fixtures in a room that nobody would ever see.
It reminds me of the main room of the building from Jurassic Park.
This is why I like this channel, unlike a lot of the others it hasn't turned to the clickbait route, otherwise the title would've been something like NEARLY ARRESTED IN HAUNTED HOSPITAL 👻👻 (GONE WRONG) (GONE SEXUAL) and then the only thing that would happen is a security gurard saying "please leave". But nope, this was realistic and scary
My thoughts too I've unsubscribed from a few channels lately because they started getting too clickbaity
I will unsubscribe to any channel that begins that click-bait shit.
But you never know, it could have been one of them in the vest, and we never saw a cop car 😬
They don't even ask for thumbs up.
They did the exact thing you are saying you don't like but used the word Busted instead of Arrested???
this was my first ever abandoned spot, i actually have the coordinates tattooed on me haha but they came because you parked to close, also fun fact; the richmond police don’t go inside, they are not allowed to because it’s to dangerous, the basement and morgue are underwater and i once took a raft down there lol.
Chris Condon Once a week or so they have a picture on the front of the local newspaper showing the demolition progress and every time I've seen "CCondon" somewhere in the photo. Your name is all over that place and has made the front page of the paper many times lol
9:43
Y4123 ,,,
K N fuckin legend in the streets
It’s a shame that the locals completely trashed the place. :/ at one point I think they considered making it a dormitory for IUE and Ivytech
Glad y'all got a chance to film it before it was demolished.
Btw, that machinery room was so freakin cool. The spiral staircase and the pipes made it look like a mad scientist's laboratory.
"I'm going to put on my respirator." Shit, never thought i'd hear you say that ;)
That was one of THE BEST chairs just chillin 🖤
Beatrice Franky yt broke, it said this comment is a week old lol
sporks He/she is a patreon supporter. Gets to see it early.
Yes, I'm a Patreon supporter. Looove my boys Michael and Bryan 😍
Beatrice Franky ah i get it now
Beatrice Franky the skylight above it kinda did me in
Looks like the aftermath of a nuclear disaster
Looks like a walking dead location too
Nuclear Dicksaster*
I always think zombie apocalypse, Resident Evil to be exact, when I see these locations.
I can get one if you want. No bro im the only walking nuclear disaster. Just waiting for the spark.
Exactly why I want to do the S.T.A.L.K.E.R challenge on the upper floors of this building, set up a camp, bring MREs, you’ll be set.
Wow it’s hard for me to watch this video. Many of my family have worked there since the sixties. I was born there in the new Leeds tower in 1970 and also worked there myself as a contractor. My kids were even born there. I was also sometimes a patient. Had many very good and very bad times there. So much history came rushing back as you walked through. It was like I was there with you in all those familiar places. Thanks for the exploration and giving me some closure to what was once a great place.
I discovered this channel last weekend and have been binging a lot of the videos. I've slowed down so I don't exhaust them all too quickly. Anyway, this is the first video that was NEW to everyone and getting to see it for the first time along with the others gave me chills with the beginning music (I've seen that stated before but now I understand). You two have a childlike inquisitive view to things as well as the maturity to not treat the places you explore like all the others have with destruction and graffiti. Each place you visit is unique and you treat them as such. And here comes the old guy and former dad in me coming out: please watch your step because I don't want to hear that one of you fell thru a floor and hurt yourself. Keep up the outstanding work.
When you said the hospital's last patient was transferred in 2008, I though “So it's only been shut 8 years."
I'm still stuck in 2016...
The final patient was transferred out in early 2009, the place had security for years and was kept up, once the security was pulled the police were overwhelmed in a year or two by calls there and stopped going inside soon after and the place became a wasteland in only a few years.
Looks like it's been empty for 30 years.
11 going 12 years now.
Holly crap I thought that was like 3-4 years ago. Damn I’m old.
@@kurtismckemmie4850 it was torn down starting in 2018, finished 2019.
www.pal-item.com/story/news/local/2018/10/01/old-reid-hospital-demolition-its-time-say-your-final-goodbye/1484954002/
When did the police start coming inside? When we were there the police would not come inside and never patrolled the area at all. We even had to dodge some people trying to track us but no cops the whole 13 hours we were there. Really glad you guys got to Explore here too, sad testament to the power of vandalism.
It could have been construction crews scouting out the building looking for specific materiel and/or mapping out the building. After all this vid was filmed right before demolition began.
Exploring With CF Same here we were there 2 different times no cops just people breaking stuff. We made sure to park way away. Police usually notice the cars parked near by and start circling like sharks .
Exploring With CF We didn’t get to see that theater someone dropped a tv off the roof soon as we was in that area so we decided to bow out
Ahsulak Ahh that sucks. I filmed here too with the theater and never saw one person the entire time I was here on 2 different days.
Scrappers did that don't blame vandals we just wanna paint on stuff
I always get so hyped up when I see a new video and click it and hear the theme.
Walter White literally the best theme on all of RUclips
Well as you walked through I was like that was my moms lab. Those were the operating rooms my grandfather worked in. Oh look the ER where my father and now mother in law worked together before I even existed. Where I met my bridesmaid, where I told people I had known my whole life I was engaged and then pregnant. Woo memories.
From that moment we first saw you, I know right then that you will bring so much joy into our lives. Thank you for coming to our life and for giving us the opportunity to become proud grandparents. Enjoy your day with heartfelt birthday wishes from your grandparents!
My wife's family are from the area. Reid used to have a significant police presence but it cost the city so much money from all the calls. At one point, they decided to just stop. Lots of squatters, druggies, probably starting fires to stay warm or just arson. The basement has been documented as totally flooded, and at one point there were patient files everywhere. Glad you guys got to go here! Thanks for taking my suggestion!
Good Lord! The mold has mold!
It's like you could smell it through the screen...
There's always just that one chair chilling by itself somewhere in an exploration.
Proper People Bingo. Chair just chilling and Christmas decorations.
You guys should make a T-shirt design with the message "Chairs just Chilling"
Dirk Hoekstra yessssss. I’ve been saying that forever. I’d buy that in a heartbeat
Can totally see this happening when The Proper People get busted:
Cops: We're big fans.
Proper People: Phew
Cops: Yeah, we still have to take you in, hands behind back.
"Can we get an autograph first though?"
Dylan "Only if you let us go"
Dan Bell got escorted out of a mall once by cops who, while not fans, seemed appreciative of what he was doing.
Sam and Colby actually got arrested
Dear Proper people. This is a hospital in my hometown that no longer stands (since your video upload) it was incredibly radioactive. When it was built they didnt have proper insulation or x-ray areas among other building design flaw. Undoubtedly this is why new Reid Hospital was built. I worked and volunteered at old Reid for many years. If there is any questions you might want to ask. Contact my email address linked to my RUclips account. I love the videos keep em coming. Be safe.
Graham Miller is this true!?! That’s horrifying but so interesting!
3.6 rontgens not great but not bad
please use bitchute Comrade! it’s ‘not terrible’, you come to Local Party Headquarters now!
Improperly shielded X-ray machines cause no permanent radiological damage to surrounding materials or objects. I highly doubt a radiological contamination would've been present at the hospital else it would've been declared a superfund site or something.
I’m glad you guys got out ok! That looks like it would have been a nice hospital when it was intact and in operation. It’s amazing how destroyed it became after the fact. Thanks for bringing us along and bringing these spots to life for all of us at home.
Now the old hospital is gone and you can't tell it was ever there.
I really love that scene 9:27
I have the same image for my thumbnail but it was after some jerk burned the inside.
Love your guys' videos. They have great exploring, and none of that toxic clickbait that 90% of other urbex youtubers constantly flood out.
Good shit
This channel is the best! I love exploring without leaving my own home! Thank you guys for risking your lives and risking getting caught for our entertainment! :)
A really cool explore but soooo much mould :(. I can't believe they just let those buildings go to waste instead of re-purposing them. Thank you. x
Sue Girling mold**
Sorry Ben in the UK it is spelt mould ******
@@SueGirling68 didn't know that, sorry
@ onorebakasama Finally a proper intelligent answer, thank you :).
That sounds like a good idea but Urbexers like decay and mold.@@SueGirling68
Thank you for taking us inside the older Reid Hospital. I am from the area, thus my Mother and several of my relatives in the Richmond area were born in this facility. For that reason, the older Reid Memorial Hospital holds a special place in my heart. I greatly enjoy watching this, as thank you for giving us a complete tour of the facility, otherwise I would not have known how the hospital was laid out. You are providing crucial documentary for us to see of a place that is disappearing, and we wouldn't have otherwise seen certain places which were hidden from public view all along before these buildings are lost forever.
Awesome video as always guys! Keep up the great work & keep on exploring!!
Why do people have to smash everything..... cool video as ever...
Rizla--King they are looking for “like” buttons. 😬
Drugs.
So many shitty people
Probably trying to kill a spider.😂
Hope you guys are still making your exploring videos. I like the way you didn't have any annoying music in this one. Sometimes that can be so distracting. Hope to see more like it. TY for sharing this video with us. 😉
Hey guys I live in this area and have been inside this hospital as well. They started cracking down on a lot of the traffic in and out of the building. This video was awesome to see since it is so close to me. Glad you guys got a video of it before the demolition.
You guuuuuuuuys!! I explored this like a year ago, so much fun. I'm so glad to see you guys went through it! This has made my day and I haven't even seen the video yet.
Love these guys intro man! You guys Rock!
That building full of equipment is likely a physical plant. It probably generates backup electricity and stream heating for the hospital campus as well as other enviromental services.
I think so
You are correct
I have had many a hospital stay, so I think about the patients in those rooms, and the hustle and bustle in the halls, the operations performed there.
The vibes of thousands!
You guys are awesome and this has got to be my favourite place you two have explored so far. Keep up the adventures. Thanks
I was born in this hospital.
It caught fire by some teenagers and people officially brought it down so now it's just land everywhere
That's a lot'a damage!
RandomDude OnTheInternet Dats alota dam-mage. Slap it on with some flex tape.
To show you the power of flex tape, I sawed this boat in half :)
I love your content and the production quality of your videos, guys. Keep it up!
Great coverage guys nice to see old Reid one last time! Got to see a lot of areas we missed!
*car salesmen slaps roof of hostpital
Car salesmen: “This beauty is fire proof”
"This beauty can fit so much mold in it"
You'd be wrong! There were actually several small fires over the years since it was abandoned. One being in the Johnson Hall section, where a firefighter almost got trapped. It was ruled an arson by a drunk guy who lit an old couch on fire with a cigarette (or blunt... no surprise.)
somone did try to burn down the old section of the hospital but it failed miserably
*roof falls in*
So reminds me of the lab in The Last of Us. That mold is freaky.
John Culhane I was waiting for the heard of giraffes to walk thru
impressed with the channel honestly I used to love going to abandoned places in my childhood, something about the emptiness and all the human traffic that once used to work behind those walls years ago, now left to decay...
Great video! Really, really enjoyed this one 👌🏼💯
I remember the place being trashed but not this much, glad you got to see the place, it was so big. And you're not alone with getting busted with the cops, I waited them out on the roof
DoubleHook G nope with the homie, filmed a school project here the second time we visited. We parked way down the street it was some other asshole that parked in the lot and we waited the cops out on the roof for 2 hours, great adrenaline rush, totally worth it
I came across your channel and I’m thoroughly fascinated! Good thing I’m retired so it doesn’t interfere with my binge watching!!
Awesome explore! Love your guys videos, always interesting & entertaining !!👍👍🙏
5:34 aesthetically pleasing shot! kind of ambient looking and pretty.
Your videos are by far the best on youtube guys this one is a fav along with the half built nuclear power plant best wishes from hampshire uk
watched in 4k on 1440p display. you guys have great cameras. i love all your videos
Kim Jong-un Come on your the leader of a country get a better display
You can't watch in 4k if your screen is only 2k 🤦🏾♂️
@@JYMAHJAMES You can watch 4k on a 1080p screen. It will still look better downscaled to 1080.
This is the place me and my friends chill 24 7 so glad yall came
I live in the town where this hospital was. My son was born in that hospital. I was really excited to see that you explored it before it was demolished. Most of it has now gone except for the oldest parts.
Yes another amazing post. The intro is still my favorite
Why do people feel the need to “Hulk smash” on glass! I guess it’s cheaper than paying for therapy
Guess so
I'm sure it heavily depends on the person but for me, smashing shit is just an amazing feeling.
This video makes me feel old, especially since its 5 years old. I used to work EMS in Richmond and took many patients to this hospital when it was open.
I remember driving into the hospital lot (around 2013) and just admiring the place. Reid had a unique look, the architecture, everything….a beautiful hospital. Decay was there but it was slightly better than it was on your visit. I took a few photos in the parking lot and left. I always wanted to see the inside of this place!!! Thank you for this!!!
The burned-out theater was creepy! Good stuff!
It's amazing how fast these places fall apart.
Thanks good work, and glad you didn't get caught !!!! Stay safe!!
Another great one! Thanks dudes!
This is TV worthy, the edit skills, the information, the people them self. If I was a host dude from Discovery channel you've would earn a own slot on the TV
This kind of exploration would never be on TV. They are literally trespassing (which is illegal) and filming themselves doing it. Not that I'm against exploring. I find it really interesting, but just saying.
Don’t open, dead inside
Oh I love that 😂
Ah my grandma worked at that hospital up until it closed. I always wanted to explore inside after it was left to rot, but I never tried. I'm glad to see this up! I recognize some of the areas. c:
Awesome video guys great as always love watching what things you find
I live north of Indianapolis and I remember a segment that WTHR Channel 13 did about Old Reid and how people were vandalizing it and how it wasn't secured. Since that story, police have kept close eyes on the property. Lucky you guys didn't get spotted or caught!
Hello fellow Hoosier I'm in Terre Haute😁
It's all the way tore down now. Wish they could have done something to it!
i guess the police missed your car parked right outside
lol
Wellington Smithopolis
Yeah, that's suspicious.
Wellington Smithopolis they say at one point that the cops probably know they’re there because they parked too close
Yet the police didn't wait at the car?? We have had police just sit right by our car knowing we had to come out for it.
always love the videos....such quality intros and editing kudos
I didn't know how much mold was in there. I never been in since it closed. It did catch fire though. Thanks for going to the location!
chilling chair at 9:27 nice!
You have masks for the mold! Finally! :D
Hey, you guys...nice vids. There are plenty of exploring abandoned places on YT, but your editing is pretty good and minimizes any corniness. Thanks.
Excellent work as always!
10:22 I was wondering if there was gonna be a TWD reference. I bet that was Rick out in the cop car! :O
"DON'T DEAD OPEN INSIDE"
another awesome journey! thank you guys for what you do😛
Tha chillin' chair. Y'alls' abandoned hospital series & SF NOLA are my most favorite. I love yall!!!🖤⚜🖤
"The Chair" looked like it needed the maxell tape dude sitting in it.
Wow, theres almost as much black mold in that building as there is in my dads downstairs bathroom.
Between scrapers, thoughtless vandalism, effects of nature and environmental impact, destruction was inevitable. Great explore guys. 👍👍
You guys are the best. Keep up all the hard work that let you guys put into all of yours videos.
I spent quite a lot of time in that hospital over the years both being treated and visiting family members. Several of them died there.
My Mom was born there, and I have relatives in the Richmond area who were too. I came from Connersville.
I grew up in Cambridge City. Small world.
When you see what happens to abandoned structures it becomes apparent that our society has an undercurrent of rage just below the thin veneer of the day to day civility enforced by rules and by laws.
@Rick Delair lmfao gosh some people are really intimidated by George Soros it's so funny😂😂
Yes, and bored kids as well.
r/im14andthisisdeep
I've explored this hospital so many times. Its cool you guys explored it before they tore it down.
As always another great explore merry Christmas lad's keep the great explores up 👍
It's sad these buildings are left to be rot and be vandalised. *Awesome video nonetheless.*
All the graffiti looks so shit aswell lmao. It's not even decent vandalism
Maybe the cops were subscribers
I love the intro so much! like it fits the content so well the music as well. Loving the videos!
Great video.. I am glad you guys went back to basic.. Your last videos were all very good.. Thank you 👍🏻
