For years my main goal was to just graduate graduate graduate and then I do and it's like ... now what?? Also, starting your career and finding a job in your field that pays fairly is some mess ... don't get me started.
Girl yes! This is so true! I graduated in 2017 and that summer for me was very difficult. I was not prepared to be so emotionally unstable as much as I was. I was so used to structure for 15+years. Go to school beginning of August, have breaks throughout the school year and summer vacation. Hanging out with friends was effortless and I got very comfortable with my routine. 2 years later, it’s way better but definitely an adjustment early on.
@@CJ-wm6xu You're right most post-grads have never been without the structure of school and when we graduate you feel lost and stagnant. I get you completely.
I was so sick for a period of time after college. I went to FAMU if any of you guys have heard of it. I moved to Atlanta and started my first career job. It was hard and as soon as I master one thing, the next thing is waiting at the door! But I can truly say there is beauty in mastering one trial and moving onto the next tribulation! And I’ve actively encourage myself to make the life I want. It helps. I read, I cook, I drink wine. All in all, I do the things that bring me joy.
Jayla, you’ve been talking a lot about mentoring & finding mentors that’ll push you & inspire you to achieve your goals. Have you ever thought about mentoring anyone younger and helping them to achieve their goals? Its been 4 months of job searching and no luck. UGH. The good thing is that my boyfriend is supportive and not rushing me. I get to be with my kids and thats great. I just feel like its so hard competing after you've been in college and others have actually been working. Employers will take 4 years employment over 4 years of education. It pisses me off because I went to school to get better employment!
At least you got a college education. I been working since I been 13, and all that experience for nothing. I had a mini meltdown yesterday, because it.
Sablo Stout your big break is coming don't feel bad because every adult has been there or are in your situation...your bless not to be working a 9-5 that you hate and still not be able to pay your bills
I had over a year of it. After my last exam in May 2011 then graduation in Oct 2011, I only found a full time job in Sept 2012 (depending on how you look at it I was at home 1 year + 4 months/11 months)and that was because I got so fed up so I wanted to volunteer to pass the time plus I was bored and lost. The irony about it is that the same place I wanted to volunteer is where I got paid full time employment and was able to build experience. My advice: DO NOT GIVE UP!

I’m so happy you made a video on this topic . I graduated college last year in May . I enjoyed my life for a couple of months after I graduated but now this year I have been struggling to figure out what I truly want to do . I applied to ALOT of different jobs this year . Some which were in my field and some that were not in my field . I just feel so lost and it’s very stressful. Many places look for experience and all I have is a degree that’s it ! I really hope that for 2019 God steers me in a good direction on what I want to do with my life . I’m tired of being lost and confused and working different jobs that I’m not satisfied with .
alisia Harris same. I graduated last May and I’ve been depressed ever since. My first birthday back home i didn’t enjoy myself. Finding an enjoyable job that pays well down south is making me feel so stuck and trapped.
I'm almost finished with my degree which is in criminal justice. To work in my field the degree alone will not get you where you want to be. I learned that doing a externship/internship/volunteer is a great way to add onto your resume. My school doesn't provide additional training so that's something that the student must do in your own. I will be volunteering/in/ext until I get a good job offer. I have been in my current field ( medical billing) for 20 years and im about to do a career change. Keep pushing.....Smile
Jayla, you've accomplished a lot since graduating college. Including change the definition of what a "youtuber" is. I'm very proud of you. Thanks for the inspiration.

It took me almost a year and a half trying to find a career in my field and I was really getting depressed through out the process but I kept searching and praying and I finally got a job offer 2 months ago that I could not refuse offering great pay and benefits.
Thank you so much for this Jayla! I graduated last fall so its been one year already. For a while I began to feel very discouraged, I started questioning the purpose that God has for my life and its easy to fall into that mindset once you graduate. I was so used to being in college that once I graduated, trying to adjust to my "new lifestyle" was a huge struggle (mentally/emotionally/financially) and it still is but I trust that this is only the beginning of something so much greater. thank you for the encouraging words!

I can’t believe you just disrespected that spring roll like that 😂😂😂 nah I use to be the same way so confused by spring rolls but a fresh and hot one is delicious, definitely lighter a crispier than an egg roll
Lmaoooo we have the same eating habits.. I LOVE eating, left-overs, saving a corner of my food to snack on later. I thought I was the only one lol. But I enjoyed this vlogmas episode, it felt geniune hearing you speak and it was humbling. Im in college now, community college and work part time at a nail salon and I just cant wait to be done with school and work full time. I get so depressed because I want to plan my every step and know that I'll make it.. I fear of struggling especially since my mom is allowing me to stay home and finish school but Idk how much longer I can stay here smh. So yeah I just been feeling low because Im so far from my finish line. 😭

Great video! I think that it’s important people know that the RUclips/creator/entrepreneurship life is not all glitz and glam, so they can have realistic expectations . It’s a lot of hard work, independence, and discipline which most new college grads have to adapt too even more. Very good video !
Hey Girly!!!! I’m 3 years post grad and it has been the ultimate struggle. I got my degree in fashion merchandising and had the dreams of becoming a buyer or visual merchandiser. I live in MD, so the job market for fashion merchandising/visual is pretty much slim to none. I’ve planned moving to ATL twice since graduating and it just seem to never go as planned. I too, am a woman who likes structure and having control over my life and I’ve learned it just doesn’t work that way. In this current state i just feel like My college/20’s is just flying by. I’ll be 26 next year and I’m not working in my career field and it’s starting to take a toll on me mentally. Like, I’ve done the interning and applying to like a 1,000 jobs a day. It’s just like .. when will it be my turn? When will I get my break through? With all of that I’m pushing through and just trying to make sound decisions for next year. It’s really hard and i did have to learn that I’m not the only person who is going through this and eventually all this hard work will pay off. 💕💕💕
Hi kayla😘😘😘, I know everything right now might seem like its not going as plan but I promise you. God has many ways of showing you and helping you to get the next level. Right I just Graduated high school and my plans are taking forever. Yah I also had to realize that stuff wont always go your way and you have to be strong , positive and work hard for what you want. It's only up to you who you are going to be.
This whole video was everything literally well without the cursing you said everything that needed to be said. Keep grinding girl your inspiration and so genuine 👏🏾💯❤️ I needed to hear this at the right time , I finally graduated yesterday with my Bachelors Degree in Biology 📈💉 and it so true to have a vision and a plan even though what you plan isn’t always going to be long term it may be temporary but still know where you going. I thought I’ll graduate in 4 years but I’ve graduated in 5 years 🤷🏾♀️ thought I wanted to be a surgeon but I choose Practitioner Nurse my second semester junior year. I’ve been setback and through certain test but let me tell y’all whose ever reading this NEVER GIVE UP 🗣 once you finish it is all that matters ....
I was in desperate need of this video😭 I graduated with my bachelors degree in Business Management from Jackson State University in April, started a brand & business consulting company during my senior year & wanted to attend grad school this fall. My dream school partially accepted me & wanted me to retake my GMAT exam & increase my score for full admission. The exam is $250 & pass or fail you can’t get it back so I put off grad school to save, study more & increase my score. Since then I have worked for a crappy company (in which I quit after 2 months) & have been battling unimaginable stress. I have a type A personality so my plans not falling through are literally killing me but thankfully I’m not giving up. One door closes & I come busting through the window. I just wanted to share my story because someone might need it hear it & understand that they are not alone. I thank God for the few people I can vent to as well as get help & advice from. Thank you Jayla for always being transparent & honest with us you never know how many of us appreciate it❤️
Thank you so much for making this video. I’m 25 yrs young and I’m still trying to figure the school situation out. Some days it’s not for me and other days I’m so motivated to finish. I’ve been looking up to you for years now and it’s so inspiring and motivational to see how you handle your ups and downs. Thank you for showing us that it is okay to fall just as long as we get our asses right back up as of nothing happened . Thank you so much Jayla. I pray that God continues to guide you down your path. Happy Holidays ❤️👑
My after college life has consisted of so many ups and downs. I got travel across country and international I had moments where I was broke and scared and moments where I got my first salary job started my own blog and even published a children’s book. Trust me the journey is tough but the results are amazing
Thank you so much for this video! It gave me a lot of insight on just life and college. I’m taking a year off because I’m just so stressed and I don’t know what I want to do in life and it’s really scary to think about. I know for sure I’m going to graduate though, but I’ve just been really unsure! So thank you again for this video! Also, the blonde hair looks freaking bomb asf on you 😍
Aryanna Cooke i took my year off and am back now. BEST decision I could’ve made . Gave me time to really think without any noise . You’ll love the woman you discover yourself to be . Good luck !
I also took time off from school went to the army reserves and went back to the same school i left, it was a great decision for me. Before i left i was stressed , depressed etc. my grades were slipping & now this semester i have a 4.0 nothing but God i Tell you. I’m still unsure on what career i want to pursue but I’m just going with the flow.
It’s funny that I decided to catch up on your last few videos and watch this one in particular b/c I officially graduated today!! And it didn’t really set in in my mind until today so THANK YOU!!! And I hear you, be patient and do what I gotta do rn to get the where I want to be, I may not have all the answers rn but that’s okay so thank you for ensuring me of that! And thank you for giving the true thoughts of being and entrepreneur b/c I know it’s what I want but I best get ready for everything that comes with that!! So thank you again for the post grad life advice💛💛 *cries in adult cause it’s real now* 😂😭😭

Dee Byrd ohhhhh ok gotcha...I’m a loaner too but just don’t enjoy watching others eat....maybe because I always remember my elders saying “don’t talk with food in your mouth” lol 😆
Dee Byrd k guess it depends on what it is. Like if it’s a sit down talk video it makes it a lot easier to ignore the eating sounds BUT if someone is just eating and not saying anything and all I hear is slurping and mouth sounds lord I would go insane. So gross hearing people eat. 🤢
Yeah, saving a little bit of food does the job to keep me for the rest of the night. I do it all the time especially because I’m lazy and don’t want to cook again.
You’re right, never try to go plan way too far ahead and if you do, make sure to make some backup plans too because when life throws a curve ball you’re gonna be sitting there looking like... what now????
Jayla girl, I do the same thing and my fiancé cannot stand when I leave that little bit of food in the fridge. If I’m full I’m not about over eat and I’m damn sure not wasting it. 😂
Everything you said in this vid is relatable. I feel like to keep from wasting time in college, people need to research careers in high school and take classes that offers job shadowing. I took Allied Health where we dibbled in different areas at different hospitals, and I knew then what career fitted me.
I graduated from college in 2012 and am still struggling like the people who have just graduated, to make a long story short , I graduated went the intention of going to law school, while doing modeling and acting on the side , I have professional training in all 3 . But but none of them have worked out for me yet so I’ve just been trying new things and am so dissatisfied with most of the new things I’ve tried the few new things that I love to do aren’t making me any money right now but I’m still doing them while working a deadend job I do feel “ Stuck “ Literally the Lord is the only one that gets me through , but I love watching you because you are so encouraging and you’re very successful , thanks for sharing Jayla
Currently 12:24am and I'm laying down hungry as hell watching this😂. Like why am I torturing myself like this? I'm currently in my 2nd year of college and the 'what ifs' have been with me even before I started. However, I try not to let it get to me mentally but sometimes that doesn't always work.
My neice studied forensics in college and was always fascinated with it, she's very young like you, you can do anything that you set your mind to, you guys personalities are similar, I guess that's what drew me to your channel, never give up on your dreams, you are a strong determined young woman, Stay Blessed! 👏 👏
This was my second year out of college also. I bought my first home, and almost hit my monetary goal for the year. I’ve been VERY blessed. 2019 is going to be a year of me taking chances and just doing things that others around me aren’t doing.
U r bless I seen your accomplishment knowone is Perfect even the ones with a 9-5 pm I’m disabled where I can’t work so girl cherish the moments n be grateful some can’t travel I can’t because of mental illness

I appreciated this video. it better explained that rut you were in a while back when you first graduated. I used to be like “tf is this girl complaining about she has RUclips she has a career” but now I understand so much. I’m a freelance full time MUA and once I finished aesthetics school I was like wtf else ima do considering a university was not in myplans. makeup was just a hobby at first, a happy escape from school but it became my job and all I did(do) and I was in a big rut. I’m almost out of that rut now I am blessed to be able to do what I love but I want to add more onto my belt so now I have path and plan that I am working towards and been getting clearer in my vision. So yeah life is really a lot of work 😂but it’ll be worth it
I love eggs rolls with duck sauce! Yum! it's crazy you made this topic about after college and yesterday your graduation from college video popped up! I felt like such a proud big sister! Even now with all your accomplishments!
I’m a December ‘18 grad and for me the anxiety building up to graduation was the most for me because nothing was planned out for afterwards and now I’m just relaxing trying to enjoy the free time of not knowing and planning what i want for myself so that in 2019 i can take on the world

I can’t believe you just disrespected that spring roll like that 😂😂😂 nah I use to be the same way so confused by spring rolls but a fresh and hot one is delicious, definitely lighter a crispier than an egg roll
How are your College friends doing, my favs are Dae, Raquel & Kay!! All of y’all should get together for a weekend trip!!
The accuracy of this video!
Your my little sister that I never had, always wish you the best.. your in my prays and you are doing a great job Jayla...
I'm mad that she tossed the spring rolls to the side once she realized there was no meat in them lol
This was amazing advice I wanna be my own boss but I’m super scared to take that risk I don’t wanna fail and I keep telling myself I can’t do it you helped me realize if I wanna do it I have to do it I think you should more videos on inspiring others to achieve there goals because you are great at being a motivation speaker
Great video! I think that it’s important people know that the RUclips/creator/entrepreneurship life is not all glitz and glam, so they can have realistic expectations . It’s a lot of hard work, independence, and discipline which most new college grads have to adapt too even more. Very good video !
you’re probably the only youtuber who’s intro i actually watch every single time 😭💓 it’s the cutest
You know the food is good, when you look back at the container after the first bite 😂😂😋
Needed this, I graduated college last weekend and idk what’s next & I’m super nervous!!! I hear a lot of ppl talking about post grad depression.
Dont be discouraged bc youre smart and beautiful and I guarantee you that once God comes through you'll look back and see how he is truly an amazing God!!! Love ya 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘
April Evans awwww 🥰 sissy!!!!!! Lol, thank you 😘 you really don’t know how much this means to me!!
@@kaylathomas8743 I believe in you kayla, you can achieve anything girl!!!! 😘😘😘😘😘
Kayla Thomas this is literally my story! Finding top positions in fashion can be a struggle but not giving up....somebody gotta be retiring soon lol
Girl, my after college experience has been one big struggle. I’m pushing thru though 😩
Right I just Graduated high school and my plans are taking forever. Yah I also had to realize that stuff wont always go your way and you have to be strong , positive and work hard for what you want. It's only up to you who you are going to be.
Thank you for making this video, this was a good topic.
Vegetable egg rolls are my favorite. I really appreciate your honesty about your career.
“I wanna warm this up a little bit”
*continues to grub*
so me 😩😂
This whole video was everything literally well without the cursing you said everything that needed to be said.
Life after college is definitely hard but we just have to keep pushing and we’ll all get through it!
This was an awesome video, great advice🙌🏾 .Continue working hard it will all pay off.✨
AWHH thank you jayla I loved this and needed this💋💋🤗
I prefer egg rolls. Life after college was very rewarding. I was fortunate enough to go work at my dads business. From there I built my own.
Thank you Jayla for always being transparent & honest with us you never know how many of us appreciate it❤️
At least u have the right mindset & are on the right track of entrepreneurship
Alisha Seer thank you so much❤️
Spring roll.👌🏽 You’re doing good sweetie. Keep striving to get everything you want in your life! 🙏🏽
@2:43 amen... I tried food from the west coast and no bueno. There was very little I liked. But I’m from the south so my preference is different...
EGG ROLL !!!!😂🤣😅 I WAS THINKING ABOUT JAPANESE OR CHINESE FOOD THANK FOR THE HELP!!!! YOU ALWAYSVBE EATING GOOD!!!!😂🤣😃😉😆😅🤗
My after college life has consisted of so many ups and downs.
So thank you again for the post grad life advice💛💛 *cries in adult cause it’s real now* 😂😭😭
Girl you are doing a great job with Vlogmas... and I agree that u have to stick with it I’m a new channel on top of going back to school and I don’t expect overnight success at all... I’m excited to go through the process actually ❤️❤️❤️❤️ great video Jayla
I've started a channel too and I had to tell myself that all my intended success will not happen overnight. Best of luck with your channel!
Misha Danielle Thank you so much same to you ... just subbed and keep the videos flowing no matter what ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@ReginaYvette88 Thank you! I'm subbing right back!!
Hi Jayla thank you for building me up,am a new subscriber and very few RUclipsrs that I focus on to. I also love time with you and the baddie twins so much. They are the reason I know about you. I love ya'll chemistry. I am happy to take time listening to you. Merry Christmas.
Ugh I’m so hungry now I don’t even eat beef and broccoli like that 😩 but I want some now
I love the middle part on you 😍😍😍😍😍
SEE-JAY TV I was thinking the same thing
Love vlogmas but I don’t know what others fascination is with watching someone else eat food 🤷🏽♀️ I don’t get it......but love your channel.
Dee Byrd ohhhhh ok gotcha...I’m a loaner too but just don’t enjoy watching others eat....maybe because I always remember my elders saying “don’t talk with food in your mouth” lol 😆
Watching ppl eat irritates me lol
Ashley Mallett lol
I don't either it really bothers me that this is the new wave 😭 I be here for the chit chat though
Egg rolls! I can’t get enough lol
Yeah, saving a little bit of food does the job to keep me for the rest of the night. I do it all the time especially because I’m lazy and don’t want to cook again.
I’m really enjoying your Vlogmas Jayla, and I’m going to miss this after the holidays..☺️😔
You’re right, never try to go plan way too far ahead and if you do, make sure to make some backup plans too because when life throws a curve ball you’re gonna be sitting there looking like... what now????
I found the intro song. It’s called Christmas In My Heart by Loving Caliber ft Mia Pfirrman.
Girl your my favorite I watch all of your videos you inspire me so much.🤗
EGG ROLL!!! And shrimp !! But how is the Chinese food in LA???
Jayla girl, I do the same thing and my fiancé cannot stand when I leave that little bit of food in the fridge. If I’m full I’m not about over eat and I’m damn sure not wasting it. 😂
Okay, sit down and chat while eating Chinese.... I’m ready sis 🥡🍵
You made a lot of great points and this was super inspiring! 🙌🏽
Everything you said in this vid is relatable. I feel like to keep from wasting time in college, people need to research careers in high school and take classes that offers job shadowing. I took Allied Health where we dibbled in different areas at different hospitals, and I knew then what career fitted me.
Veggie egg rolls are better. They have a nice crunch.
In Cali , you get less and pay more.
I see that. I would still be hungry.
Thank you for telling the truth.
Jayla, Great message.
@2:43 amen... I tried food from the west coast and no bueno. There was very little I liked. I’m from the south east coast so....
We want Chinese food now!!😩❤️
LA portion size is ridiculous 🤣
Currently 12:24am and I'm laying down hungry as hell watching this😂. Like why am I torturing myself like this? I'm currently in my 2nd year of college and the 'what ifs' have been with me even before I started. However, I try not to let it get to me mentally but sometimes that doesn't always work.
Come to Guyana carnival next year may
My neice studied forensics in college and was always fascinated with it, she's very young like you, you can do anything that you set your mind to, you guys personalities are similar, I guess that's what drew me to your channel, never give up on your dreams, you are a strong determined young woman, Stay Blessed! 👏 👏
This was my second year out of college also. I bought my first home, and almost hit my monetary goal for the year. I’ve been VERY blessed. 2019 is going to be a year of me taking chances and just doing things that others around me aren’t doing.
Jayla, my best friend and I are older then most of your viewers. We are so proud of you. Keep up the good work.
U r bless I seen your accomplishment knowone is
Perfect even the ones with a 9-5 pm I’m disabled where I can’t work so girl cherish the moments n be grateful some can’t travel I can’t because of mental illness
Mizz Kitty thank you for sharing your truth... Jesus is real and He can remove any illness or disease of you trust and believe Him.. I pray that you will be able to do all your heart desires
Thank u I believe
Shrimp Spring Rolls for me 😊
Xoxo,
- Mai 💜
So yeah life is really a lot of work 😂but it’ll be worth it
Team spring roll; I love the crunch and mine come with shrimp and cabbage!!!
combination egg rolls
No one makes chinese food like NY
Naw, like St.Louis lol. We have the best Chinese food
Where u get the shirt from
💕I believe she got it from a bag she got from going to the RUclips Black event💕
I know the feeling structure. I went from high school to college to law school all the way through.
I love eggs rolls with duck sauce! Yum! it's crazy you made this topic about after college and yesterday your graduation from college video popped up! I felt like such a proud big sister! Even now with all your accomplishments!
I do the same thing 😭 i eat until I’m full and save the food that’s left as a snack
Spring!
I’m a December ‘18 grad and for me the anxiety building up to graduation was the most for me because nothing was planned out for afterwards and now I’m just relaxing trying to enjoy the free time of not knowing and planning what i want for myself so that in 2019 i can take on the world
You are a very wise young lady. 👍🏾
shrimp egg rolls hands down. 🔥🔥
Hey Jayla, so I’m about to graduate and like I’m super ready to graduate college has been so stressful so fun but so stressful at the same time I major in animation my goal is to be a storyboard artist I’m originally from Brooklyn New York I moved out to San Francisco for school but I actually want to move back to New York. it was just nice to listen to you talk about like how life is after college like a lot of people don’t mention it even my own friends don’t talk about like how life is after college like they always Flossin you know boasting about the next new thing that they got but they never really talk about their struggles so here are you speak about like how it’s you know it’s not all glitz and glam is a reliever
I like the vegetable egg rolls 😂
Jayla there is good for in Cali! Good for in LA and Orange County. Such a good topic, I appreciate you sharing the things you have been through, your fears, and desires. You are doing your thing.I know your mom is proud!
