I love this movie so much. This an hypnotic movie.I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. The soundtrack is gorgeous. Everything is mysterious. You have no many answers about the story going on. It looks like a contemplative movie about dark characters wth a coulourful and gorgeous photography. This movie reminds me Francis Ford Copppola 's movie " The conversation" or WIlliam Freidkin's movie " To live and die in LA" .Benoit Magimel is currently.the best french actor .He gives an excellent performance as a sticky politician. I recognize that is a contemplative movie with no clear story and one hour too long;. But what a pleasure for the eyes. The colours , the polynesian lanscape.

I completely agree. It's a little cliche to call it a vibe but it completely is. I totally agree on The Conversation...love that film. I will surely check out to Live and Die in LA

First time I watched it, I didn't get it. Then I surprisingly craved to see it again the next day, just for the experience of that strange tropic trip. Sound and music were subtle and powerful. All the actors were fantastic, the cinematography of the lush landscape and the sunburst shots of Tahiti skies: mesmerising!
The nightclub scene in this electric blue light with the admiral dancing and inviting the other people on stage to join him with the eerie moves of a festive monkey is a depiction of the devil residing in hell like I haven't seen it in cinema for a long time. Fantastic performance by Marc Susini as the admiral: What a despicable, sloppy, tiny-minded fascist.
The movie was shot during COVID quarantine which adds to the feeling of emptiness and fatigue. Magimel improvised all his lines which director Serra fed him through an in-ear piece, that's why his bodytalk is so spontaneous. The director also said in an interview that the viewer has to abandon the notion of sense, since most of the plot follows no ”real-world”-logic. @@moviehusbands

Interesting how the cinematography was amazing. Shoot on Blackmagic 6k camera with angieneux lenses.

I'm glad you like it! I've been showing this movie to anyone who likes arthouse or foreign cinema. I hope it finds a larger audience someday.

Great review ! thank you ... I feel this film could have reduced the running time by 20 minutes and still maintained the same tension
