The Bandito series was fun to watch, the "Slashito" series should be great too. It is far more entertaining seeing a lower-cost rc doing well in races against significantly more expensive setups.

Fielding these underdog chassis is super cool. While I absolutely appreciate the cutting edge vehicles, doing well with a (heavily modified) RTR, and especially a rear motor, is incredibly satisfying. I just finished our first local points for the winter with my rear motor B4 against a field of B6.4s and TLR22s and while I didn't make enough races to podium for the series, I did pretty dang well, including TQ and 1st for the final race last week. Next series I'm pretty focused on not missing any races so hopefully can put a 20 year old car on the podium in April!

I have swaybars in my slash (its a 4x4 though) and set up right, the cornering stability will be improved. It will take a bit of testing to get the suspension right as your shocks, springs and sway bars have to be all set to work in harmony with each other. Done right, both the bandit and slash will be winning consistantly in no time. Love the budget builds.

We need to petition proline to bring back their pro trac suspension for the Slash. That's what I run and it works great. It changes the track width of the truck to take advantage of the suspension change. You just run different offset wheels to compensate

These trucks are capable and a ton of fun. I'll have to point some of our guys to this video that are wanting to run something besides Spec slash. It's cool to see other tracks and other people trying to make the hobby more affordable.

I love Team Associated. I still have a B4.1 with full graphite, carbon fiber, and aluminum. Though, I've been replacing parts with RMP products because it has gotten increasingly hard to find replacement parts. I used to have a T4 RTR way back in the day as well. Stuck between a new RB10 or a Bandit as a buggy basher since the old B4 should be retired.

Now that Traxxas has the Slash kits, it may have been easier to just start with that instead of buying used, even considering all the upgrade parts!
I'm getting back into r/c after a hiatus and purchased one of the Slash kits just for bashing and I must say, I was pretty impressed both with the overall quality of the kit and the instructions which rival any of the high tier racing brand kits. Although I did add Trinity ceramic bearings, RPM Rear hub carriers, and Associated 50wt shock oil to mine. I think my next step will be the aluminum steering rack and bellcranks along with the LCG chassis.

Good race! I ran a 2wd slash last weekend in novice class that consisted of 20 entries. Most were 1/8 E buggy. I made the Amain for that class and managed to pull out a 4th place against 9 1/8 Ebuggys :)
I also have been running a slash ultimate in the sct and open 1/10 class. So far multiple TQs, and multiple second place finishes. :)
I am considering running my bandit in the next novice class just to see how high I can place. Novice at my track can be any 1/8 or 1/10 running 4s or less for batteries so I can run a bunch of random underdog stuff.
I have had more fun running my slashes in these races than with my actual competition E Buggy and E Truggy.

Do you post your setup sheets anywhere? I'd be interested in seeing where you landed.
I have that sway bar kit on my LCG slash. They don't fit worth a darn, and there are no instructions anywhere that I could find about how to install them. I should say, there were none that are correct. There are a couple of videos out there showing how to put the sway bars on. The front end seems plausible, but the rear end is completely wrong in the videos that are out there.
I ended up putting the parts that are supposed to be for the front end onto the rear, then buying another of the kits to do the front end...
Overall, I would call the design poor, but they do indeed work.... If they were any worse, they wouldn't work.

We have a local track that races Stock Slashes only. You can't change the shock brand, or the arms, or the transmission, or the steering or the motor. Basically only allow LCG chassis, shock setup (oil, springs) and tires. It is a loose dirt track that is rough and bumpy. What options are available for the stock shocks? I run Associated stuff, and although they do allow Stock SC10, It would be an unfair advantage to run the stock SC10 so want to try my skills with essentially matched Slash, I've never owned one either so don't even know what suspension adjustments there are. Fun video though, although I can't do the mods you implemented, it is inspiring me to join that racing.

yoooo. I have a slash 2wd all stock except springs (same body as in video too) A lot at club level will come down to driver. In my second outing with the slash and some suspension tuning, i was battling for a podium against buggies (novice class is free for all). dollar for dollar an rtr associated is better, but a slash get get close enough to where the driver will determine who wins. i would work on tuning yours, work on getting better and have fun upgrading it. and worry about the 'better car' if you decide to be more serious with it and need to make the investment.

@@gateguardninja that’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ve upgraded my slash. It has a brushless system in it that I put Scott different shock. I actually had to watch this video. Went to my local hobby shop today and bought the LCG chassis. I’m gonna give that a shot and see what I need to add after that I’m thinking about getting the pro line transmission in the pro line shocks

Definitely give it a chance. Be patient and the lap times will come down.

that could be...I didn't see what tranny he had in there. May want to run a HR sealed diff.

@@modelnutty6503 even with a pro-line it can unload in turns making it lose speed coming out of the turn. i would rather have a modded sealed traxxas diff with thick flood then any ball diff because it prevents the unloading of the diff in sharp turns.
