They are my personal heroes. I own much of my happiness in life to them. Unfortunately time is cruel and I don’t believe this game will impact this generation like they impacted mine.
One thing to consider - I don't think most gamers, and even most hardcore adventure gamers these days, have played the original Colossal Cave. So for them it won't be a rehash or a retread. It will be a brand new experience - a way of seeing what started it all in a much more immersive and exciting way than trying to actually play the original. I've played the original about 45 years ago, and I've played this new one, and I am pretty sure whoever gives it a try will not be disappointed.
This has me really excited; For past three of four years I've been in sort of a gaming funk where (outside of Disco Elysium) nothing that's come out has really been something I could enjoy for periods of time longer than maybe 10 to 20 minutes. Seeing Ken and Roberta return to the industry with a small team like the early days of Sierra has me hyped.
@@AdventureGameHotspot Honestly it was probably RDR2 and the Witcher 3 before that; But that being said Disco Elysium is probably my favorite game of all time. I've never played something that hits all the comedic high-notes, and world builds as well as ZA/UM did in that game, and insofar as a game can be perfect I think it's about as close to the Platonic Ideal as an adventure rpg can get.
@@AdventureGameHotspot Don't look up anything before playing it, just follow two rules. A) Don't min/max with quick saves; You're going to fail a lot of dice checks, and the most interesting things in the game come from failure. B) Don't worry about burning bridges or alienating other characters unless you want to, this game is about improvised chaos.
@Weird Gaming Adventure did u ever get a chance to play or check out,ps1 point n click blazing dragon's and Dracula unleashed? I was surprised, blazing dragon's wasn't on ur top 100 point n click games
The story of both of them is one you couldn't dream up. I'd so wish for them to live up to their expectations. But I don't think that game will be successful, meaning to reach even closely the numbers of Thimbleweed Park or even Return to Monkey Island. It will sell fine, but not really to build a sustainable base for more games with the same team. Don't get me wrong, I love Sierra and their adventure games, but the gaming world has become incredibly unforgiving and cruel, with "fans" bantering Ron Gilbert for picking the "wrong" graphic style or something else. I wish them success, but I don't think they will get it. As Ken said in his book: Not all fairy tales have happy endings.
I think it will sell based off of curiosity and name recognition. However, without having a full knowledge of the project, I suspect that they spent a LOT of cash in development. Large teams and a world tour marketing approach adds up. The game is more than enjoyable though, so I suspect that the reviews will be fair, but I totally agree with you about unforgivable fans. We are all a bunch of savages ;)
