  • Milwaukee’s M12 Rocket Fuel light (2132-20) is one of the tools that really surprised me. I quickly found out this is one fantastic tripod light but easily can be used other ways. I believe this light can fill most tasks that a remodeler, mechanic or person in the trades would require of it.

Great light. I have both M18 and M12. I grab that M12 rocket constantly because it’s so darn light and compact. I take it anywhere including the attic. Works laying down or standing up. Had it for 3 years and still running strong.

I have that same light and like Harley said the height adjustment shaft sucks. So what I do is take a spring clamp and clamp it around the shaft at the bottom, now you can adjust it to any height. I use one of those Bandi-clamps but any clamp will work. The Bandi-clamp is the spring clamp with the rubber strap between the jaws, I use those for keeping edge molding in place while I glue or pin nail them on. Other than that I like the light, hope this helps guys

      That’s a good idea

@@campbellbuilt It’s a shame you have to do that paying a couple hundred dollars for a light. The M18 version has 2 clamps to hold the shaft any height you want but It’s a bigger heavier light, I like the size and weight of the M12 light so the spring clamp is a decent work around, have a good weekend.

@@lawdog516 I agree for what your paying for doesn’t add up to the same value as the bigger tripods. My brother mentioned that when these first came out they were 99.00. 199.00 seams a bit steep.

Genius idea. I used my cheap harbor freight 1'' Heavy Duty Spring clamp to do just this after reading your suggestion. When the rocket light is folded down, the spring clamp from HF has enough diameter to secure around the handle.
I think this is stupid on Milwaukee's part. Can't believe this got out into market without being able to adjust the height more precisely. I'm betting that the next gen will have the adjustment and some other minor quality of life improvements so that consumers go out and buy it

I got a large Rigid light with a large massive tripod. I found it too large taking up storage space. It's great but big. I just recently got the Milwaukee rocket for the reason l can save space and can use the standard power cord.

In order to use the light in its lowest position, rotate the head on the mast a quater turn, then put the mast in its lowest position. It's designed to sit that way for use or turned a quarter turn for storage.

I have the m18 version, i use it for diesel and automotive work, can't say a single bad thing about it. Out of all the tools you have your lighting tools are the most important after all, you can't work if you can't see.

That last sentence is very true. Within the last couple years lights I’m more interested in lights than tools themselves.

The Dewalt looks like its trying to compete with the M18 version not the m12. M12 is way smaller.

Yes the DeWALT 20v is a direct competitor to the m18
